I've been applying to jobs as much as I can recently. On a steady basis, had a few interviews but none hired yet. I'm trying to remain positive about the whole situation. It's difficult though.
Right now, I'm a virtual assistant. It's great for the most of it. However, some weeks I don't get much work though. Those weeks are a struggle, but I still supplement income to make ends meet.
What do you do to make ends meet?

I am on partial social security. I went on soc. sec. early to help my son raise four kids.
That means I get a little over half of what I would have, and that will never change. So then, you get SSI.
I truely hate being on assistance. I am 73 now, so I bring in a bit here and there with sites like FC.
Ya do what you can.......

Yeah, sometimes it feels like it just keeps getting harder. Sometimes its easier to save than make money. Isn't always possible though. I miss the days when I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck. However, I can't complain but so much because my income as a virtual assistant as doubled. However, at the same time I still have those slow weeks that I don't earn much. So I have to be really careful when budgeting, and supplement my income when I can.

Well, the best I can do is make money online and do volunteer work in the meantime for me.

make money online, 5 years in a row I have paid for Christmas with my earned money

Well its hard we lived with one income for many years and we used credit big mistake .I would pay what you can and look at things you need and don't need. My husband is the spender and i'm the saver just like my mom was.

Sacrifice. A ton of sacrifice. We lived in a 2 bedroom apartment (2 adults 3 kids) for 4 years to save. We did our laundry by hand in a wonder washer. Hung it outside in the summer to dry and around the apartment in the winter. We shopped (And still shop) at aldi and use coupons at Kroger (I also get to use the company discount) We used the library for rentals. No redbox, hulu, netflix, trips to the theater or subscription for cable. We said NO a ton. A ton to the 3 kids. Even when it came to birthday parties as we didn't have extra $$$ for gifts. If we need (and still need) clothes we get them at the Good Will. Bottom line - sacrifice.

I have only one income too, and it can be very hard; especially when things break and you don't have the extra cash to fix them! Like someone else said, you do what you can, and save when you can....

I use a lot of rebate sites when it comes to buying my groceries to save on them, I end up getting them for little to nothing in many cases. But as far as making money it is just sites like fusion cash.

I'm on SSI and I do what I can online to supplement it.

I work. Sometimes you have to take a job you do not want to do. Even if it means fast food, retail, or a job you really hate.

I think that countrygirl112 is right on. Sometimes we need swallow our pride and take jobs that are seemingly below us. I have found that by making the best of a bad situation more opportunity is found. I took a third shift position when my business began to disintegrate. But I worked harder than most others and my work ethic caught the eyes of another employer. I took on a second job and then found a good job that covered the first two. Being in a job slump has made me appreciate the jobs I am currently working at. I go to work before most and leave after many. I sacrifice and work even harder at a second job. I work at a part time job and nobody realizes that I have two other jobs because I maintain a high level of energy and a positive attitude. You will find something-I feel certain.

I have just signed up to sell Avon on line. Avon has their entire catalog on line and, I believe, it can all be done on line. I have my own e-store. Can you suggest sites where I may be allowed to post a link.
How do you get work as a virtual assistant? What do you do?
I am a senior citizen and get social security. I also live in HUD Housing for seniors and my rent is based on income. That helps.
I did have a p.t. job but I ma getting less and less hours and I think they are trying to get rid of me.

That reminds me of when I was in the Army and lived in a fourth floor walk-up with no bedroom (just a bed that pulled out of the wall) and we did our laundry in the bathtub. We would put the clothes in with water and soap, then get in and stomp on them for 20 minutes a load. Drain and rinse them the same way and hang them inside. Since we lived in downtown San Francisco (the Tenderloin) there was no place outside to hang clothes.

I'm retired and my retirement check covers all my bills and personal expenses. For a little extra money I do my fusioncash every day.
-
Well even though I don't have a house payment or rent it is still hard sometimes to make it on disability and a small pension / retirement check. I have to really budget. Pay bills first and try to watch what I spend on food. I try to use fusion cash and a little other online earnings to buy myself stuff every once in a while. Good luck finding a job I hope something great comes through for you.

I have a full time job and teach part time as well. I also do lots of surveys!
I wish I could find something for Saturdays that was sort of brainless, like filing, or data entry.

Try to get for free whatever I can. The rest that I have to pay for, I will get it on sale.
