I am trying to work on my budgeting skills. I have tons of expenses and want to simplify. Where do you cut corners in your budget?
-
I made a list of all my expenses, and then put them in order according to importance. That makes it easier to decide where to cut. In my case, it's mostly the little nickel-and-dime things that drain my resources. I've also gotten into couponing, and unless it's something I really need, I won't buy it if I don't have a coupon, and preferable an app rebate to stack with it.

As of right now I am not saving money... I am expanding my investment assets... Collection (gold, silver, coins, etc), lending club, and cryptocurrency (mainly bitcoins)... Was thinking of getting into stocks, but I havent had the time to research or learn things

the best thing to do is to write everything you spend money on (even a pack of gum) for 2 weeks to a month.by doing that you will see your spending habits and where you could save some money. give it a try. Saving money can be as addictive as spending it when you get started. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:

The first step I would do make a list of your monthly fixed expenses
Rent/Mortgage - can't easily adjust short of moving
Power/Water Utilities - Is there anywhere you can make cuts? Hang-Dry instead of Dryer?
TV/Internet - Do you use all 150 channels? Do you need the fastest connection?
Phone Service - Do you need a house phone? Do you need that many minutes or texts? look into Prepaid
Next Step, Find money savers, coupons, discounts
FC offers coupons, and each one earns you money on FC
Groupon
Ride Sharing - Lyft, Uber etc

I use a website called butterbudgeting.com. She has great stuff and knows what it is like to cut corners. a lot of ideas , cooking , coupons, etc. I cut my budget by cooking more at home and not eating fast food a lot. It is hard but I worked on it a little at a time.

I cant save money....I dont even make enough to pay my rent on time every month...
so every penny I have goes straight to my landlord or to my utility bill.

I save my change mostly, I save around 50/60 dollars in change every 3/4 months.

Best way I've saved money is giving up tv subscriptions and phone contracts. I also where things more than once to cut back on laundry costs. Coupons and savings programs are fabulous as well.

use coupons when i go to the grocery,,,,, gave up cable ( hate time warner ) they just gave me grief so I save 100 bucks every month of that,,,, i walk a lot of places instead of driving ( if i'm going someplace close that is) I dont spend much of new stuff and I hate to shop LOL

I would first start making a list of things that I need, as apposed to things I would like, but don't need. For instance, I need a loaf of bread as I have nothing else to eat in the house, but I don't need bottled water, because water is drinkable from the tap. I would consider shopping in the reduced section of the store and I myself have often found bargains which I could not pass up on. For example, taco shells normally sell for $2, but I noticed a whole stack of them in the reduced section going for 25c, so I bought ten packets! Plus, I ususally buy bulk as prices are cheaper per item if you buy in bulk. You can very often find the unit price advertised on the store shelf.

Great ideas! Thanks everyone. So far I have cut my cable down, asked for a discount on my cell ( they gave it to me!) Stopped eating work lunches out, changed lattes to fountain drinks, started thrift shopping and done minimal couponing. My fixed expenses stay high, but I've come to realize that even a few cents a day adds up.,

Recently my husband was out of work. It was amazing how much we could save since we really needed too. I planned meals around and shopped with coupons. We looked at every thing, cable cell phones. No eating out. No pizza night.
He has been back to work but we still continue our "frugal" ways.

I have recently found that buying a lot of my groceries at a dollar store saves me a lot of money! Around here we have one called "Dollar Tree" where everything is a dollar and no more! They even have amazing deals in frozen foods and bread products! I stock up and put them in the freezer!

yes I shop 99cent store.have gotten medicine there for 99 cents instead of 3.00 or more dollars. Look at the times of the year soon will be back to school so Kelloggs will have coupons and the stores will have cereal on sale. Can get for maybe as cheap as 1.25 abox oh I hope so.

i never spend any of my change it adds up pretty fast

I do my own hair at home - 99% of the time. I stretch out my eyebrow waxing appointments. I got a debit card that I load every couple of weeks that I use for my entertainment expenses. When the money's run out on the card - I'm done (at least I should be). Your Advertising Budget is supposed to be good.

I bring my lunch to work everyday and I avoid roads where you have to pay a toll. I believe it saves me about 75 a week.

I cut out cable and just have internet and Netflix and an atina for local chanels. i went from 170 to under 50 a month. i also joined my local buy nothing group on face book where i can ask for things i need like food cloths furintire and i can gift stuff so i dont have to throw it away
-
I save by turning my hot water off, keeping my air on 75, turning off lights, unplugging everything and cook all home made meals

I've cut a lot of corners for sure. And am trying so hard to stick with my budget. But goodness, it's hard.
