Title: Social Media
Post by: Dvessella1983 on August 29, 2016, 09:34:29 am
What is the big deal about social media (aka) Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Snapchat....etc? Are you not apart of the 'In" crowd unless you join? I am not saying it's wrong to be on it but it seems like everyone and there brother are on it and they check it everyday. With the use of mobile phones Facebook is the center of everything.

What do you believe about social media?

I don't understand your IT crowd wording. But I use Facebook to stay in touch with family who lives in different states. Friends form when I was in school & to keep up with my community events. I also keep an eye on my teen kids & what their friends post (so I know if I need to step in or be concerned with something) I think social media is a great way to stay up to date with people you know. Twitter & Snapchat- really too much for myself, I guess I am too old for that.

I like to use social media for the news and things happening around the world.  The news is certainly more diverse than it is watching any of the 3-letter channels on TV who, I think, are more slanted in one direction.

It does seem that way. It seems like only the highly elite are on Instagram, and unless you post carbon copy photos or look like a Kardashian, no one is going to pay attention. It seems too manufactured. I'm on there but don't post much and certainly don't try to be a trending topic.  ::)

Im not much for social media. It is time consuming and time is something I run short of as it is. I also dont like my stuff being "out there" in web land. It is great for some people, just not my thing.

I use and enjoy social media.  Learning new things brings me joy and helps to keep me informed about new technology.

I'm on social media.  I guess I'm too old.  I just don't get it and I've never cared for it.  I don't like taking pics of myself or letting all my business out like that.

Social media should be called anti-social media because it certainly doesn't promote good social behavior.  It also causes many unforeseen problems and is typical for immature kids and adults. 8)

I've Facebook but I'm not very social by nature & the only time I respond is something issues interest or gives me a emotional shock I can't help but respond.

I use Facebook and Twitter regularly for personal use as well as business. I help maintain the social media presence for a local comic book publisher, so from a business standpoint they're both extremely useful tools in getting your company name and your products out there to a wider audience and to network and establish professional connections.

As for personal use, I use it to keep in touch with family and friends. After high school, a lot of my friends moved to various other states for either school or work, so it's an easy way to keep in touch. GEEK ALERT: I've also made friends from attending various comic conventions who, again, live in other states.

But to each their own.  :)

I'm usually in it for the fact that i like to be up to date on things not saying that i necessarily like social media because i feel like its fake and they blow things alot out of proportion on it, but i do sometimes sit well with twitter although it does has it's days where i can't stand to be on it. in all honesty i think social network sites arent a big deal as they used to be and its only sucking those in who were sucked in when it WAS a big thing, im sure the people who are just now getting into the social media thing arent really getting why its really so interesting other than the fact that every once in a while a celebrity grabs the attention of everyone worldwide by doing something idiotic and stupid.

but i mean its also good for business and networking which was one of the main reasons i made me a facebook and twitter mainly for those reasons only but after a while i succumbed to my daily "Tea" posts and i do like to see what's rumbling in the jungle from time to time lol!

To me I think people abuse social media by posting all their business.
