I have been lucky to have all my family very close to me when I was younger and now only a little more than an hour away. My boyfriend's family is back in Missouri and he will be driving there for Christmas. It must be difficult to be away from family all year but especially around the holidays

Nope! I don't do any traveling over the holidays. I just stay at home.
-
No I don't do much traveling during the holidays...I mainly stay home.
-
My immediate family live close, as do my 2 best friends. My 2 stepbrothers live a distance so I don't see them on holidays.
-

Although gas prices are low, I was not in the mood to travel this year...we just used the good old system, the telephone.

My kids made it up to the mountains for four days during Thanksgiving before they had to head off to an insignificant concert. This was okay because I took last week to relax and get my head together. My wife and I went exploring by ourselves, took the dogs for a five mile walk (pups are passed out today), hit a few nice restaurants and watched several movies. I had told my wife to plan on only spending a day or two with the kids because they are into them selves at this time of their lives ( my son is seventeen going on eighteen and my daughters is twenty). Living with/ visiting them makes it so much easier to work ninety plus hours per week. I may fly out to visit my parents for three days next week. I have hit and exceeded my goals for my daytime job and only have to put in another forty hours this month to hit my goals for job number two.

I went to visit my daughter in the hospital. She just had knee replacement surgery.
Considering I have a pinched sciatic nerve, it surely seemed long distance... :)

Lately, I do not travel to visit my family out of state. Locally is my thing.

-
Nope. Not worth the hassle.

I'm not close enough (emotionally) to any family to visit, but I have them in North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Florida, so I could be all over the east coast! :P Looking forward to spending a quiet holiday here with immediate family.

Before my Dad passed we'd travel a couple of hours after all the events died down just to visit and bring his favorite foods. Since his passing 3 years ago I haven't seen either sibling at all and therefore do no travelling in this stage of life. When I was young it was no big deal to just decide on the spur of the moment and hop in the car to travel 8 hours to visit family. Now that most have died off and I have more local priorities, I don't travel at all.
-
No but I'll have to when I relocate further out of state.

My family comes to me. Every Christmas we make dinner for the whole family. I write a special prayer and every year I start to cry and someone else has to finish the prayer for me. One day...I will make it through.
-
I usually do, but this year it looks like they will come to me.
