Title: banking
Post by: Gerianne on June 09, 2017, 06:51:07 am
bank companies merge all the time.
I have a neighbor whose bank is now too far away.
She had to make a necessary move.
not all banks are brokerage banks.
Bank of America has numerous convenient locations.
I like Schwab. I can go to any bank I want, not just Schwab bank.

I used to work at BB&T and they were constantly going through a merger! As much as clients complained about mergers, it was 10% worse for the employees to go through it!

My bank is a credit union so I don't have to worry about it merging with another bank.  It is a local government credit union so only government workers and their family can be members.

Banking is part of my money making habit. I spend one to two hours per month, on various sites, reviewing dozens of banks to see if they offer a bonus for opening an account without requiring direct deposit and earning interest. Last year was slow, I only opened eight accounts which, subsequently, only added about eight hundred and fifty dollars to my bottom line.  I am aiming to earn over one thousand dollars this year with account opening bonuses. My bank account collection is a sore spot between my wife and I. She is not happy with just getting money from two well paying, full time, jobs and a part time job...she believes that every cent that I have should be given to the family. She doesn't understand that I have opened these accounts and other investment tools by scrimping, saving and being extremely frugal. Her hobby, tennis, costs a few thousand a year.

Yep.  I am with Wells Fargo by default.  I was with Wachovia and Wells Fargo bought them out.  The same thing has happened with my student loans.  I now owe to two companies that I didn't get loans through.
