Would you rather live in the city or the country?
-
Country, 110%! I live near Chicago and I like to visit the city, but I don't think I could live there with all the pollution and crowded streets and insane drivers. The country is open and peaceful-definitely where I want to be.
-
I like living in the city, but I would love to have a home out by the lake in the country for weekends, a place to go relax and get away from it all. I would rather be in the city during the week for job and errands, just too far away in the country, to get things done. We just moved from a place in the middle of nowhere back to the city, I couldn't be secluded anylonger.
-
i would reather live in the country i hve lived in both and i love the country over anything the only problem is there is no jobs any more in the country and it stinks
-
hate country life after about 3 days, love huge cities. more people, more connectivity
-
I'd rather live in the city. I like the hustle and bustle of city life. It makes me feel alive. ;D
-
Country 1 million percent. I can't stand all that city noise and the people are so rude!
-
City all the way. The country gets boring fast! There's so much more to do in town. Shopping, libraries, public transportation to get around. Also emergency protection is much better. Your street is more likely to get plowed quicker after snow and emercency services are much closer.
-
i have lived in both the country and the city. my choice would be the country.....
-
i would rather live in the country...no neighbors to e rude to you.
-
I always thought I would liek the country till I got here! To the eye its beautiful, and I do like the quiet, but thats it. Takes forever to go somewhere, just pick up some pepsi at the store and u gotta drive forever. And the county I live in is country and poor and that reflects in their schools and that reflects in their people.
Plus I don't like killing deer and everybody walks around in camouflage ..............well a lot of people do ...maybe not everybody. And the worse thing is, We have to put our trash in our cars and take it somewhere, to the trash dump!!
Where I am from the trash man came around in his big loud truck and got our trash. We didn't take it anywhere except the end of the driveway.
I guess to each his own. :)
-
I could argue pros and cons for each... The country is cleaner :)
-
City pros - Easier to meet people-- lot's of interesting/intelligent people, there's plenty to do on a date, more to do at any time of the day, easier to walk around since everything's so close, landmarks...uhhh...that's all I got off the top of my head.
City cons - AWFULAWFULAWFUL STUPID GODDAMN DRIVERS!!! Noisy, unclean, packed, horrible traffic, bad road care, stressful, crime, ridiculously dumb laws, and there's a lot of creepy people lurking about.
I live near Chicago as well and it sucks. They built all the surrounding areas horribly and it takes me an hour and a half to get to work when it should take me less than 30 mins. And when it snows? 3 hours was the record. Whenever I head into the country, my stress level lowers dramatically. All you people living in the country-- you have it nice even if it is boring. This city is going to send me to an early grave! AUGH!!!!
Edit: Add a poll to the top of this post!!!
-
i love the city life. there are more things to do and people to meet but so busy. i totally can life both life. i love the mellow life also.
-
city 100%.
i want to move to new york someday
-
City for sure! I have lived in both and I like the busy life better. The country is where I might take a relaxing vacation but the hussle and bussle of the city is what I want from day to day.
-
I live in the country. I'm not sure what I'd prefer anymore. I love the peace and quiet we have out here all the time, but we're so far away from everything.
-
I'll take the country over the city any day. I just went to B'ham this weekend and thought I would go crazy before I got back to the country. Construction and delays everywhere. Too conjested and took to long just to go three miles.
-
I prefer city life (which I am living in right now). However I also like to take a quick break sometimes to live in countryside, it is relaxing!!!
-
I have always lived in the country and love it. I have neighbors, they are just not in my backyard. Sometimes life can be boring in the country, but I'm sure it is in the city as well on occasion. I have to drive a long way to work and back. The price of a long commute is worth living in the country.
-
:) Country...away from pollution and mad crowds. Go shopping for supplies in the cities...then go back where we all came from 'Mother Nature'.
-
No way could I ever live in the country!!! I have lived in a small town before and I really missed all the conveniences. I live in a major city right now, that's where I'm happy.
-
I like living out in the woods its great. I live by a dairy farmer not always the best smelling but a nice place to be. and we are only about 20 minutes from the nearest city but its not that big of a city either but busy enough for me.
-
I have the best of both worlds! I live on outer edge of our small town. My backyard is next to the neighboring farmer. We used to board our horses there so the kids walked across our two yards then brought the horses to our backyard to saddle up.
Our front yard faces a culdesac so it is a quiet neighborhood. It is a one mile walk to Main Street. We live a half hour from a city.
-
City. I've lived in both and I just love the city life. More things to do, more choices of where to shop and eat...
I have to have the noise and the traffic, it's how I was raised.
-
I've also lived in both and prefer the country. It can get old sometimes when a trip to the store requires a half hour or more drive and you only need a few things, but to live in a place where my granddaughter and I can sit out on the front porch in our pajamas eating breakfast, I love it!
-
i wish i could have both. we have lived in the country for the last 8 years. i love it and it's where i want my kids to grow up but, i miss living in a walking city...where you can just walk out your door and have everything within walking distance. a city is always alive!
-
I wish I lived in the country. Unfortunately I still have to work, so for now I'm stuck in the city. As soon as I get this internet thing paying big $$$....I'm outta here !
-
Country life!!! It's the best. After growing up in the city with all the rush, rush I never thought I would like a slower pace. But after 33 years in a small town, I'd never go back.
-
The city life is fine with me cause I used to live in Vt where all there is is dairy farms and smelly!
-
country life is great and if you live close enough to city you can have both of best worlds.
-
if you have decent transportation, then the country is the best place to live. I like growing flowers and vegetables and I like to be able to have pets that don't have to be pinned up all day.
-
I dont know if you can consider where i live a country or a city. But i like to say that i live in the country and then it takes 25 minutes to get into town. Which holds about 24,000 permanet residents but have like 40,000 college students.
-
in the country with alot of land to ride my 4 wheeler on
-
It's both for me. I like being in the country, where you have your own huge chunk of land and stuff, but I gotta be near the city for job, and also stuff I need (for a place like walmart or target). But I wouldn't mind living in the country and driving to the city, just wouldn't want to stand the traffic every morning.
-
I love the city life! There are more things to do. I don't think I could ever live in the country side.
-
I grew up in the country and at the time I hated it, I moved to a big city almost 6 years ago and would now give anything to go back to the country! I hate this city life, the traffic, the crime, and there are just way too many people here! LOL
-
The country for sure, I have lived in the country my whole life on my family's farms, I think it runs in the family because my family and my ancestors from the past have always lived in the Country from 1860 till now.
Much less noise and much more peace, no crimes or robberies because every one knows when they tress pass on country living folks you will be shot.
Much better views living in the country then living in cities.
-
I grew up in the country. I moved to a small city of about 100,000 when I was 15, then to a large city of 10 million people when I was 22. The country has its perks. It is more relaxing and you are free to roam and explore the countryside. That's especially fun as a kid. On the other hand, it takes a long time to reach basic services like decent shopping centers, hospitals, etc. If you live in a big city you have everything you could want: malls, food from around the world, clubs for any interest you can imagine, etc. However, cities are crowded and stressful.
It just depends on what you are looking for, but I prefer the city.
-
give me 10-20 acres and watch the nearest neighbor have to find my driveway! country 4 sure!
-
Country all the way....there's always something to do!
-
CITY LIFE I HAVE LIVED OUT IN THE COUNTRY BEFORE AND ALMOST WENT CRAZY
-
I would rather live in the country for sure. I don't like going to big cities because the air just smells bad everywhere. I'd really rather live in a suburb in the middle than in either, though.
-
City, i just like being close to people, but i like to get out sometimes.
-
Country, 110%! I live near Chicago and I like to visit the city, but I don't think I could live there with all the pollution and crowded streets and insane drivers. The country is open and peaceful-definitely where I want to be.
-
Id rather live in the country.
-
city. from a country town but live in the city now defenitely prefer the city
-
i have to say that i prefer the city life.
-
Country no doubt. Yeah, it costs more, but man is it worth it. Forget convenience when you boil it down; there's nothing better than true relaxation - even when you're busting your butt.
-
I've lived in the city almost my entire life, I would probably miss the noise :D
-
would def. prefer the country over the city. too much noise.
-
Would you rather live in the city or the country?
In the country, with lots of land so I could have horses.
-
I like farm ville better :)
-
city -i like the neighbors ,, i stayed at my moms for a week at a time to take care of my dad with my kids and my husband who worked 3rd shift, well i would get freaked out , and her neighbors were a bit a way , its just to creepy.i felt like someone could break in to easy..
-
8) I prefer the country life over the city. If it were up to me, my neighbor would be a mile away. To bad I live in the city by the beach.
-
I don't like either. I like a mix of the two. Small towns near both are where it's at!
-
city life for me
-
I hate city life and can't wait to get some kind of income so I can move.
People and their stero's blarring, vehicles constantly going by the house, the SARTA bus stopping at the end of the driveway every 45 minutes from 5am-11pm, dogs barking when you walk past the house on the sidewalk, kids yelling and screaming, people hot rodding
can't go outside and sit in your own yard without someone watching you.
The smells are :-X
-
Where you from, Vy?
-
8) I always thought 'city life' was very glamourous...it is not: There is too much crime and pollution! I prefer: 2% City/98% Country...2% City living- Go shopping in the crowded cities and take your supplies to 98% Country living...Yes, go back to Mother Nature...live longer...the quality of life is better, much better than polluted city living...you will live longer.
-
country life for me and my family
-
CITY 8)
-
:cat: I've been a city girl all of my life until 2 yrs. ago when we moved to the country. I didn't think I'd like it, but I love it!!
-
Country! Love it! Peaceful, quiet, fresh air, smells better than the city!
-
Country....I cant stand to even visit a small city let alone a large. I love the quiet, nature and a handful of people.
-
Country 2000% due to over population in cities. Don't like it never have and never will. I love nature and being able to go out and enjoy the breeze without choking on the smog.
-
Ill say city probaly cause that's where I am right now
-
I would love to live in the country. The peace and quiet plus room to have goats and chickens. The traffic here is awful, it makes me not want to drive.
-
my vote is for the country i just enjoy the peace and quiet.
-
County life is way better. Seems you still need the occasional trip to the city, but I have found that the less you go, the less you need to go. And the less you go, the more ridiculous cities appear. The stress you find there is just incredible. I just hope I get to stay in the country. Alot will depend upon finding a viable way to work from home.
-
Country, Definately. I was raised on country sunshine, I'm happy with simple things. A Saturday nite dance, a bottle of coke and the joy that the bluebird sings. ( Thanks Lynn Anderson)
-
well i live in a suburb and its just perfect. not too country and not too city.
-
A small city, with easy country access.
-
I like living in the city
-
i love the country life. I lived in sin city and i am soo glad that i moved back to country life.
-
I would definitely rather live in the country. I like the slower pace of things. I live in a small town, and even though it can be annoying at times, I would not change it. I overall like the small town living.
-
I've lived in the city most of my adult life. I grew up in the suburbs. Though it is much quieter in the suburbs, the city has much more to offer and the noise is at times comforting.
-
i love the country..im living in the city now and i hate it... :crybaby2:
-
The Country hands down :bunny: :cat: :dog: :fish: :peace:
-
I have lived in the country all my life but I love the fast pace of the city when I visited.
-
I would like a little of both. I've lived in Chicago majority of my life and when I moved to Alabama for college I was like "OMG, it's slow!" I loved the peace and quiet but, I still longed to cars driving past at 2a, smell the food from the late night burger joint up the street, etc.
-
 COUNTRY !!! The farther away from people, the better !!!!!
-
Each has its merits. I want to live in the city while I'm still young and want to explore the world. When I'm getting older, I will go back to the country and enjoy a simple life.
-
I am not sure where I would want to live?? I was raise in the country but now I am living in the city. I like both areas!
-
City deffinately, I grew up in a small town in Ky and now I live in nashville tn, love my city life
-
I've lived both and they both have their advantages/disadvantages. I currently live in the middle of nowhere (country) and I love my life, but I miss my family (city) and the area I grew up in. Country = slow pace, simple folk, close-knit community. Country also = nosy neighbors, slow drivers, no sense of urgency, driving for 60 minutes to get anywhere. City = excitement and a wide variety of activities and culture. It also = crime/gangs, pollution, and high taxes. Pick your poison.....
-
 COUNTRY !!! The farther away from people, the better !!!!!
Have to agree with that!
-
I'm lucky to live in a small rural community outside of the biggest city in Ky so if I need something from the city it isn't too far away so I get best of both situations.
-
I spent my whole life in Omaha until I spent a sort two-year stint in a small town. There's no question, opinions irrelevant, the city is better. In a small town, if there's any kind of emergency, whether medical, fire, or police, depending on the town, there's a good chance they're not going to get to you before it's too late. Another thing people seem to love about small towns is the "tight-knit community," which is more trouble than it's worth. In a city, you usually know who your friends are, you pick them out, and you have no problem getting a hundred or more friends of people you actually like. In a small town everyone is supposedly everyone else's friend, there aren't very many likable people to pick from, and the backstabbing and gossip happens to everyone no matter how rich/successful/charming/attractive/friendly someone is.
Crime does happen in small towns, there's less because there's less people, but from what I've seen, if someone happens to be the victim of someone who's good friends with the incompetent county police, charges mysteriously never seem to materialize.
You also don't have many good jobs to choose from and if you do find a job that wasn't meant for high school dropouts, the commute is insane. Actually, the commute is insane for everything you might want to do in a small town. The things in a city you take for granted like impulsively swinging by a fast-food place, late night drug stores, or not taking up half your evening just for the drive to and fro any kind of recreation or even friends/dates just aren't there, and you do miss it.
Sorry for the essay, whoever had the patience to read. ;D
In any case, the town I was in had a lot of dirty secrets I won't get into, and it was a pretty creepy little town of 1,000 people. My experience might not be indicative of the entire country, but I just remember getting a weird, eerie feel just visiting there. You can bet I'm never staying anywhere under 100,000 people again.
-
ive always been a city girl, i think it would be interesting to try being a country girl for a bit, but after a while ill most likely be running back to the city...you never know
-
That's a great question, I love the city life born and raised in a big city but same time I like to have things quieter I could see myself living in the country in a few years
-
Country. I don't like crowds or places where buildings block out most of the sky.
-
I have lived in the city, and I have lived in the country. The country is much better if you like your privacy, and if you like animals. Neighbors are too nosy in the city. They don't like it if you if you water your lawn at the wrong time, if your dog barks, or whatever they dislike about what you are doing. So personally I like the country better.
-
I would like the country. It is quieter and not so many people.
-
I have always lived in the city and sometimes I really want to live in the countryside. It seems so much more peaceful.
-
i lived in the country for a while and almost went crazy from boredom.. i need to be around lots of people. so city all the way.
-
I prefer living in the country. I do enjoy visiting a big city every so often.
-
The country is much more peaceful and you have more freedom.
-
Only country....could never live in the city. I like quiet, no road noise, no kids, no horns...nothing!!!
-
not sure yet
-
i profer the country and always will.i've always lived in the country just dont care for city life.
-
I like to visit the city...but the country is home!!
-
I have been living the city life all my life. I wouldn’t mind to adopt the country life to get away from the city for peace and harmony of nature. My ideal would be to live 4 days in the city and 3 days out in country. :peace:
-
Both, country for peace and quiet. City for more things to do.
-
Well I've lived in the city most of my life and it gets hectic sometimes. Living in the city does come in handy when you don't have a car. You can rely on public transportation until you get one. When you live in the country if you don't have a ride you're pretty much stuck like chuck. I'd prefer the suburbs, not too close and not too far from the city.
-
Country all the way i am 100 % cowgirl could not live without all the pretty views and the amazing animals
-
Would you rather live in the city or the country?
Lived in Manhattan, NYC as a child, teen, moved to suburbs (married), there's sometjhing great about both, step out of my door and walk to the curb, and bam! here comes the bus!Yyou could go anywhere anytime without worrying about "The car" am I low on gas and so on? the bus is always ready to go. Ah but the peacefulnes in the country, the beautiful sceneries, mountains shrouded in mist, flowers in the spring and leave us not forget the wildlife, that I really love, so it's a 50-50 proposition for me. :-
-
Would you rather live in the city or the country?
the country is were i would rather be its calmer and the people take the time to be nice
-
I prefer city life. As a matter of fact, New York is one of my favorite cities.
-
Yeah I rather liven the :star: country, :star: city life is way to "controlling" for the most part... Go :peace:
-
Would you rather live in the city or the country?
well being in the middle is better. not 2 much business, ;) but not in the middle of nowhere either.
-
I was born and raised in Chicago, so I'm VERY used to the hustle and bustle of the city life. When I was 20, I was engaged to a gentleman originally from Tennessee (Dresden to be exact.) He somehow managed to talk me into moving there with him. We lived in the middle of nowhere. The neighbors were half a mile away on each side, there were so many massive and strange species of bugs that I had never seen before which terrified me. There was a creek behind the house with wild dogs that had attacked people and animals in the area, so being outside at night wasn't safe...not that I would have wanted to because the mosquitoes were HUGE. We lived across from a hay field which made me sick ALL THE TIME (I never knew I had allergies until then.) Finally, the people were so rude to me because I was a "city girl". Some stored refused to serve me based on my appearance and no one understood me because I "talked too fast". After about 2 months, I was completely fed up with the country life and we moved back to Chicago. Some people are cut out for that life, but I definitely wasn't. lol
-
Well, I love my country life, however I miss conveniences of a big city. I live in a very rural remote area, I love the privacy, laid-back way of life. However, when my husband travels and I go with him I love the big cities, conveniences of restaurants, stores, shopping.. but hate the traffic.
-
like country life but live close enough to city to visit when needed.
-
I actually live in a suburb of a large metropolitan city. I much prefer this over the country. I like having neighbors and being close to shopping areas. I don't care to drive 10 miles to get to a store - winter or summer.
-
I would prefer to be able to walk or ride a bike wherever I want to go, but I live in the county and can't currently do that. But I really like the fresh air and nearby nature.
-
City more action and people
-
City I need the adrenaline/rush
-
My answer is city. Kind of. When you say city vs. country, are you talking about the extreme small apartment, people constantly walking by, noise traffic image you get in movies, vs. Timmy fell in a well, nothing but green grass, hay, and grandma country you also get in the movies? Because if that is the question, then the answer is neither. I couldn't stand living in either of those situations very long. I like to have access to food, shopping, etc within a few minutes drive of my house, that attractions and entertainment are not much farther away, but if I do want to get away from it all then it wouldn't be hard too either. So, maybe suburbs? Then again, hollywood attaches negative images to that too. Maybe there is no winning in any of this, lol. :cat:
-
I am a country girl at heart. Have lived in the city and am so glad i don't anymore. Although i do live in a small town now instead right out in the country. But all i have to do is go to my dads or brother and i am back out in the country. You never get away from it. LOve it.
-
I love the city! there is nothing that compares to the sights and sounds that a city can give you. Everyday is a new adventure, a new learning experiance. while i like the counrty to after a while i start to feel bored and want to do something. :star:
-
i used to live in the city., when i was young but know i live in the country and this is the life for me.
-
Country life! I live out in the country now and wouldn't have it any other way! Its quiet and peaceful! It seems to let you slow down and appreciate life!
-
I'm a country or small town girl. Currently I live in a large city and the traffic and noise get to me. I'd like to hear the crickets chirp at night and the birds sing in the morning.
-
I was born and raised in good 'ol Maine =) So I'm more into the Country & Wood's and Peacefulness rather than the City filled with buildings and crazyness :P
-
Its hard for me to chose I love the country and getting away from everything but I love the city because there are different things to do
-
Farm livin is the place for me.
-
I have lived in both worlds and for me I definately enjoy the sights and sounds of the city over the country. Got to admit though that I do enjoy visiting the country every now and than.
-
I've done both, and each has their advantages and disadvantages. Still, I would go with country. I like the peace and quiet. I've had quite enough sirens.
-
country definitely
-
I live in a big city, but I'm in the location that's far away from the main hustle and bustle of big city life. There's hardly any noise at all, and no traffic to worry about in my neighbor. People here are very friendly.
-
I've lived in both the city and country and both have their advantages. I love the peace and safety of knowing your (few) neighbors in the country, but when you wake up at 2 in the morning and get a craving for something to eat, it's great to run down the block for variety.
-
I live in the country but I like to visit the city.
-
Country life for me .. I live in the city for over 20 years
-
i grew up in the country, now i live in the city.. i miss the peace and quiet in the country
-
I've lived in both over the years and each has its attractions. My choice is to live in the country where it's so much more peaceful--but close enough to a city to take advantage of all that has to offer. So, I live in the country but can be in Philly in 40 minutes.
-
I would prefer the country life but this didn't/doesn't make sense with two kids. Events for children (sports, school. etc) have the best core in bigger cities. Living in the country would not allow as much socializing for the children as they would have to walk quite a distance to their friends houses and this would be impossible during the Winter. Gas prices and time constraints make it very impractical to live in the country. We currently live in the suburbs. The kids can walk to a friend's house or school. Sporting activities are all within a ten-fifteen minute drive and spur of the moment emergencies, common with children, are easier to take care of.
-
COUNTRY! All the way!
