I bounce back and forth. I'm an herbalist so I use anti-viral herbs on a regular basis. Garlic, yarrow and cayenne all have antiviral properties but I think I might get a flu shot, anyway.
What about you?
Did you get a shot yet?
How much do you have to pay for one?
Are you going to pass?
-
I have Kaiser insurance and they pay for it, but I would get one anyway because it usually works for me. I say usually, because last year I was hospitalized with the flu for a couple of days.
-
I don't plan on getting one. I use to get them all the time and sometimes still got the flu, perhaps a different strain than I was vaccinated for but for now I have no plans to get one.
-
I have to get a flu shot I am required by work. I don't know how much they are my insurance covers them.
-
I don't get the Flu shot... the two times I have gotten the shot I've gotten sick.
I did take my father to get the Flu shot at Kaiser & it was fast & quick, they have an area just for the shot right in the lobby.
-
I wont, I had a bad reaction to one I had a couple years ago, for 6-8 months my arm where it was given felt as if someone hit me with a bat, and was black and blue
-
No, I won't be getting a flu shot this year. The last time I got one I was sick for 2 weeks.
-
I have allergic reactions to medication. I need to be very careful. I will pass.
-
No, I won't get a flu shot. You all should be able to get them more easily for free this year though. Check out some of the grocery stores. I thought I saw them advertised for free, but I do not know. I do not have all the details. No min. purchase, ie $50, etc.
:bad: :bad:
-
No, no plans at all on getting one.
-
I've already gotten mine. It's a requirement for my employer because I work in a hospital. No side effects, though a few years ago, I was super tired after getting it. It's either getting the shot or possibly getting the flu. I'll take my chances and just get the shot.
-
I have already gotten it this year at my doctor's office. She had plenty of the high dose ones for seniors on hand so I gladly took one of those.
-
I have been getting a flu shot every year for the past 15 years and only had a bad reaction once. It was like feeling I was coming down with a bad cold for about 24 hours and then was gone. It was only one year. On the other hand, getting the flu shot annually has kept me in good health and I know I am safe being around others. Getting shots and vaccinations isn't all about you. It's about keeping others safe also. Once you are on Medicare, you get your flu shot free.
-
Most certainly will get flu shot!
-
Yep I got mine about a month ago.
-
I would never get a so called flu shot. They make people sick.
-
Yes I will be getting one. I usually get it late October at my doctors office.
-
I don't really believe in its effectiveness, but living with someone with heart disease means I have to get a flu shot every year. While I worked at the School of Nursing I had to have one every year because they required it.
Now I just get it because it's free with my insurance and they and my doctor bug me about getting it.
:fish:
-
When you say you are an herbalist it makes me think you have a healthy conscious mind, similar to mine. But clearly we aren't exactly seeing eye to eye. Under no circumstances would I get a flu shot. Completely unhealthy to put it nicely...in my opinion.
-
Every time I get one I end up sick and feel like I have the flu for days. I think this year I will skip it and see what happens.
-
I use to get flu shots but I would always get the flu. I will never get one again no matter what my doctor might say. :-X
-
I plan to get one.
-
No I stopped a few years ago. I use to get them but my arm would be sore for a week and I couldn't even raise it up. So now I just pray, eat onions and garlic, wash hands often and take vitamins.
-
I get mine every year. They have changed them to not make you sick. :)
-
no plans for me
-
I got the flu (a serious case) from the flu shot. Will never ever do that again. Got very sick with hep shot for a job I had.
I stay healthy with herbs and vitamins, and have not had the flu since.
Those shots they all want us to take are very risky, often with, I have read, the "hair of the dog" (like the one for shingles....people still get the shingles often enough).
Got bronchitis with another of the shots. Not worth it, at least for me.
:rose:
-
No I got one years ago because where I worked the nurse wouldn't quit hounding me. But I haven't gotten one since I think they are a scam and I also think they could be dangerous at least to some folks so no flu shot for me.
-
a neighbor of mine learned about the flu shot.
she got the shot and consequently, yes, consequently, got the flu.
what do you think is in the flu shot? ???
I learned my lesson back in the 1990's.
-
I am getting mine next week at my doctor appointment. I work with a lot of medical workers, who have to get it. When you see the large numbers of elderly and very young people come in for help with the flu and others who just happen to be at risk, you would change your minds about the shot. It is an ugly way to die, especially when it is preventable. It can come on so suddenly and so strong that some high risk people do not have a chance. You also have less immunity as you age for things that at one time you could fight off.
-
No, I never take the flu shot. It has been many, many, many years since I caught the flu. My husband got his flu shot this morning. He takes it every year and he catches the flu every year.
-
Nah, I've no plans on getting a flu shot. I've actually never had one. No specific reason, honestly, I know you can get one for free at countless places, I just never really bothered to.
-
No. I do not take the shot and I have never had the flu. Most people who get the shot get the flu then say oh well it would have been worse if I had not got the shot. No, you most likely would not have gotten sick to start with. I know 2 people who got the flu shot over the week end and they are both sick today. I also know a woman who got the flu shot several years ago and she was one of 3 that got a bad vaccine and she is in a wheel chair today. And yes it was caused by the flu vaccine she received.
-
I wont, I had a bad reaction to one I had a couple years ago, for 6-8 months my arm where it was given felt as if someone hit me with a bat, and was black and blue
Two of the girls I work with got the shot Saturday and both of them have a bruise and their arm still hurts.

Don't think it is free. Pretty sure it would be no out of pocket expense if you have insurance. Nothing is free.

LOL. Why do you care if somebody else doesn't get the flu shot? You got your precious shot so you are protected. lol

lol. No they haven't.

I don't think that legally they can force you to take a shot to keep your job.

I will NEVER change my mind about the shot. I won't be taking it. If you feel you are at risk then take the shot and you will be protected hahahahahaha I know elderly people who get the shot every year and then they get sick every year.
Not worried so much about the flu but just colds are crap in general. Funny how people can be so sick they can barely stand and they go to Walmart. I do plan to avoid Walmart as much as possible in the next few months.
-
I have never got a Flu shot because I have heard where people got the Flu shot and they still get sick. I have never had the Flu.
-
My son and I actually just got ours Monday. It didn't bother me but my son woke up with the flu Tuesday morning. Not sure if it was because of the shot or if he was getting sick and it just pushed it on out. Luckily he gets over things fast and is a good bit better.
-
I will definitely will get one.
-
My daughter is a Type I diabetic, I have a mod-sev case of lupus, and my husband is a sheriff's deputy in the jail working with inmates from all over the world. All 3 of us are considered high risk and are told to get a flu shot. We did. Thank God for insurance. My son, however, hasn't gotten one since he turned last fall. He's supposed to because he lives with the rest of us, but he won't do it. I told him if he gets sick, I'm gonna take away his birthday.
-
I may pass. I don't take to the idea of being injected with the flu; inorder, to not get the flu.
-
I have never gotten the flu shot. I do recall having the flu a few years ago and it was rough. However, I have no plans of getting a flu shot.
-
I am considering getting it this year.
-
I will never get a flu shot. Never have, never will. :angry7: I only rely on my own immune system for healing.
-
I have got to get my flu shot. I usely have it by now but I retired 4 months ago as a greeter at walmart and was there were I could get it at the pharmancy. Hope everyone has a good day and my God bless each of you and keep you safe. :)
-
I always get the flu shot
-
Have no plans to getting any flu shots, they aren't for everyone, they do more harm to the system than good. Never got one and never will. My Auntie gets them each year and it does her really bad, makes her feel just like she has the Flu.
-
I am one of those people who don't really believe in flu shots it feels like it makes it worst then it helps me.
-
I always get a flu shot. I'm not sure if i'm do for one. Have to check on this. For me I don't pay anything.
-
Just got mine a few hours ago, I never miss it and have only had Flu once in 20 years.
-
Not getting flu shot at all. I only get if a have a bad year getting sick
-
I think I had one once and I got the flu right after, not sure if that was coincidence or the shot's doing. But either way I still got sick, so forget it, I'd rather risk getting the flu or not for free.
-
:) I used to not get one. Now that I am retired and work part time at a funeral home, I am around people quite frequently. So, last year I got one and will get another one this year. Also, Pneumonia and Shingles I got last year. Shingles was a 1 time shot and Pneumonia is good for 2 years. :)
I am able to get them through the Veterans Administration.
I don't remember the cost but was very reasonable.

I got one last year and it hurt. I'll probably pass because I rarely get sick. I take a lot of vitamins on a regular basis.
-
Not sure yet, last year I got the flu and did not get the shot. I may do it to experiment. I am becoming a holistic health coach and know that food is your medicine and will prevent many illnesses but we can't stop mother nature with giving us other forms of infections. uugh! My son got his today, so maybe I will just bite the bullet and get mine! lol
-
i plan to get mine. i have an appointment for my doctor in november
-
I have already gotten my flu shot this year.I had an appointment with my doctor about 3 weeks ago and I went ahead and got it while I was there.
-
If I have the time, I'll get it.
-
I got my flu shot in September and a pneumonia shot too! I usually wait till October but the lady at the drug store was really pushing them early so I got it out of the way.
-
I will definitely get one.
-
I don't plan on getting it. I have never gotten it in the past.
-
Got mine today, It was free. the hospital that I am with for my graves/thyroid gives them every year. Makes it nice. Just go in and sign your name and you have your shot.
-
I normally do not get a flu shot due to the fact that I rarely get the flu .. I have seen everyone around me get it but for some reason it normally skips me.
-
Thanks for the reminder - I need to do this.
-
I just started getting mine a couple of years ago and to my surprise the flu shot works for me. I keep my fingers crossed though. :)
-
I get one every year
-
if you want the flu you will need to get the shot
-
No I do not get flu shots. I don't trust what is being injected into our bodies.
-
Nah...
-
Yes. I meant to do it last weekend and forgot. I don't know if it works or not, but I trust the advances we have in modern medicine.
-
My doctor makes me get one each year. I have really bad allergies so as she explains it, 'any sever allergy attack during the flu season could turn into pneumonia so a few shot will prevent that from occurring.' I think it's based on the individual. If it gives you a peace of mind then go ahead. Personally I don't think it prevents the flu, because I've had many friends get the flu after getting the shot. I think what it does in truth is not prevent you from the flu just makes it less lethal when you do get it. So, in my case, I have to get it for a different reason.
-
My husband and I (we are in our sixties) have been getting them for the last few years. He insists on getting them, though I feel like I could go without it. However, we are going to visit our newest little infant grandson, so I guess it's good to have it. (We also got the whooping cough vaccine.) Our flu shots were paid for by our insurance.
-
No more flu shots for me. I was getting them for many years until 3 years ago.I used to get the flu every year with the shot. Now I do have to get a pneumonia shot. Was hospitalized last week for that and my DR said I had it so bad it will take me about 6 weeks to get over it.
-
I have never gotten a flu shot, and don't plan on getting one. I don't normally get sick, and don't trust what's being injected.
-
Oct 25, 2017 is scheduled for me, my friend got it already.
-
I got mine in September. I work in a place with kids so I want to be ready before the flu season gets here.
-
I haven't had a flu shot in 20 years, and, thankfully, I have not gotten the flu in that long either. My husband gets a flu shot every year, and he's had the flu a couple of times. So I guess I'm just lucky! :clover:
-
I got mine Monday. I have medicare.
-
Yes,I am going to get one as I have COPD
-
yep I already got mine about 2 months ago I think.
-
No, because I don't want the flu.
-
I never had a flu shot and no plans to get one.
-
I don't have any plans to get it. Everyone I know that gets it always says it makes them sick.
-
No I'm not getting it. I have enough problems. I've heard a lot of people still getting sick after doing that. They poke me with enough needles to draw blood. I'll pass.
-
I get the flu shot every year as I have chronic illness and can't take a chance of getting the flu really bad
-
I haven't gotten the flu or the flu shot in over two decades, knock on wood.
-
Yes next week.
-
Already got mine - The insurance paid for it :glasses-nerdy:
-
Naw, I try to stay away from drugs and just treat myself with holistic remedies.
-
i think my insurance covers it but im not interested in getting a flu shot.
-
noppe ive never got one,,,,,,,,
-
I haven't gotten one yet and i don't plan to get one
-
I already got the high dose shot because I am a Senior and it is covered by Medicare.
-
My family gets a flu shot every year. Hubby gets his through work (works at a prison).. my son, Mom and I go to a clinic that does it for free every year. Usually they don't bother any of us. This year however both my son and husband ended up incredibly sick. The shots didn't bother my Mom or myself but naturally the boys were all too happy to share their colds with us.
-
I have lots of health problems, so I always have the flu shot.
-
I don't plan to get my flu shot anytime soon
-
Yes, I got mine in late September, or early October; I always get them, so for have not had a bad reaction and it has kept the flu away; which is most important.
