Title: Do You Still Ordinarily Trust Others?
Post by: Cbsteffen on October 11, 2017, 06:49:53 pm
I’ve read the quote, “Trust is like an eraser. It gets smaller and smaller after every mistake.” My trust has become extremely tiny now because people lie or frequently jump to conclusions!

Trust is earned.  I'm willing to respect people and with time I might learn to trust them.

Also, there are different flavors of trust.  I might trust someone not to run away with my purse but that doesn't mean that I trust them to be emotionally stable.

As a single lady - I've had opportunities to date and to be able to trust someone - is pretty special.

I try to trust people, but once the trust is broken it's broken forever.

I want to trust people, but I've been hurt too many times so it gets harder for me to do so.

No I find it very hard to trust those that I don't know. Its very hard to earn trust from me. I once trusted easy but with each person that did me wrong my trust has been harder and harder to earn.

Politely cautious, till I know folks better.

There are only a very few people I trust.

I can still enjoy them casually, but with deeper things, I am mostly private.

It has nothing to do with "mistakes".  I don't trust people at all.  And for the most part do not like people at all.  People stink.  Like you said they lie, they cheat, steal, and are out for themselves.

And I notice more and more everybody got a sob story.  And if you talk to them long enough at Walmart they will eventually ask you for money.

I think by “people,” you mean the most simple humans.

I used to be so trusting, but now as I age and find more and more people abuse my trust I  am getting to where I trust less.  Now it must be earned and then sometimes I am very wary of  some people.  Our world has changed so much. Used tobe we could go  off and leave our doors unlocked and now you have to make sure everything is locked up tight and then that does not  always stop some people.

That’s why I find teleportation dangerous. If you could teleport through locked up places, you could also get away with a crime!

I don't generally trust people, it has to be earned. In the past, I have trusted and been let down. These days you have to really watch your back.

Yes I trust them until they do something that I won't trust them.

I will not get to close immediately any more, but I usually give them the benefit of the doubt.

I like the saying but I think there should be a different eraser for each person.  By all means, I do understand where you are coming from.  But there are some great people out there and I hope you don't miss out of a great relationship because you are assuming everyone is untrustworthy.

For reasons unknown to me, I've always been slightly suspicious of others. Most of time its unfounded, but some times I'm right

For me trust is earned however I do not automatically think everything some else does is a lie I give the benefit of doubt.

Hello! :D :)

I think the problem is that I just trust too easy, I try to see the best of everyone. It's just my naiveness that put me in trouble I know that for sure. I need to change my thinking pronto! :rose:

I honestly have NO one that I would believe everything that they say to me.  Once someone lies to me, I don't trust them again easily and there is always this little underlying doubt if what they say is true.

I don’t trust companies and their representatives anymore. If they try to lure people to join their company because they have to rely on their financial contributions, I take it with a grain of salt. I do not fall into their ploy so easily until they prove themselves worthy with integrity. I agree 100% that trust needs to be earned.
