I hate getting the hiccups ---what do you do to stop them when you get the hiccups?

This ALWAYS works for me. You sit quietly and sip small sips of water very slowly until your hiccups are gone. It calms your diaphragm.

Drink a small glass of water.

I hold my breath. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. I suppose if you held it long enough you'd pass out and your hiccups would quit. I've never really tried that.

I always put a tablespoon of sugar on my tongue and hold my breath till it dissolves. Usually always works for me.

I have a sure fire cure every time I do this it stops. I hold my breath while at the same time hold water in my mouth and swallow 10 sips.

I don't have a cure for hiccups because I don't really need one.When I get the hiccups they only last a few minutes so I just let them run their course.

Hold your breath or breath into a paper bag. I have heard that works but never tried it before.

My mom used to always ask us what did we steal when we would get the hiccups. And we actually believed her and would confess to something we did so our hiccups would stop. LOL

ok, sounds strange - but always works - tip your head upside down, bending at waist, now drink your water while upside down - the amount of concentration is enough to get rid of the hiccups - have done this for years....

Hang your mouth open. It works if you are in a place where that will embarrass you!

I hate hiccups too. Drinking water slowing somethings works but holding my breath always does the trick. :rainbow: :heart: : :snowflake: :wave:

I hold my breath or drink water. It has always worked for me and I hope it will always work. :)

I still think my idea is the best "What did you steal" admit to it and hiccups go away lol

Bend over and drink a glass of water backwards it always works.

I usually drink a bottle of water. That seems to do the trick for me every time.
