I just now read about this unusual national 'holiday' in celebration of socks that have managed to stay together. No, really--no joke! You see, there are two more national 'holidays' for socks--National No Sock Day ( May 8 ) and National Lost Sock Day ( May 9 ). I guess that we are apt to look at socks as an 'either-or' kind of non-essential part of clothing.
What are your thoughts? Do you have favorites? Do you lose them in the laundry? Do you give them as gifts? Do you love 'em or not?

I just have enough for one week lol and its from a pack I bought way back ><.

I don't have too many matching sets of socks. Perhaps I have enough for a week and a half and that's it. It's pretty funny that there is a National Sock Day. I guess there is a day for about everything.

I like socks and have many pairs. Every now and then one will get lost in the wash and I have no idea where it goes.
It just *poof* disappears. :o :o ???

I never count my socks but when the washing machine eat a lot of them, I just buy more.

my husband and I manage to lose our socks . we just say the borrowers have taken our socks again? we bought some packages a few weeks back. so far haven't lost any of them.

I think I have about 20 pairs of socks at least. in the winter my feet are always cold so I wear 2 pairs a day.whati can't understand is why they go missing all the time! I swear the dryer eats them! I am pretty good right now but there was a time when I had more missing socks then pairs of socks. :rainbow: :peace: :santa: :wave:

I'm not sure i can give a very accurate count of how many pair but I will say that the minimum number is 24! Actually, I like to buy winter socks that are cozy and comfortable. There's just something to having warm feet in a Michigan winter. I also like to buy solid colors but there are such cute socks that sometimes I have to give in and buy a colorful, patterned pair.

It is also Repeal Day to celebrate the repeal of the twenty first amendment/prohibition! I would probably have a glass of scotch if it were not a work night. Who am I kidding...it is always a work night for me! It is also the eve of Saint Nicholas Day. Not celebrated in the United States as much as it is elsewhere. I read that cities like Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Ohio and Evansville Indiana celebrate Saint Ni's day more because of the heavier German influence in those areas. Our kids have been out of the house for a year but, when they lived at home, we would hang our stockings out on the evening of December fifth and wake up to the filled with sugary treats and gifts. Some traditions put shoes out (to be filled with coins). I sent a little note card with cash in it to each of the family members.

I have about 100 pairs of matching socks. I have a couple that got lost between washing and drying oh, well.

I love black or white mens ankle socks. They're way too big for my feet but sooo comfy. I don't like tight fitting things and these are perfect. I literally keep them till they fall apart, but I don't bother matching them. I wish they'd make other designs, but I guess guys don't care about that. The cute socks are always uncomfortable and so thin! I don't even bother with them anymore.

I have many individual pairs of novelty socks (some people do drugs... I have a novelty dollar store socks problem) and while that's fun, on my lazier days sometimes I think about just having a whole drawer full of identical, interchangeable socks whose mates I never have to rummage for!

I have around 12 matching pairs. I usually threw away the ones that get lost.

I only have about 5 pairs of matching socks :party: as a birthday present from a sibling and it's the monopoly game board theme.

I got so many socks. Everytime its on sale bought it.

I will know when we have a day when all the missing socks return.
I have a stack in a drawer, waiting for its mate.
Then I will know how many pairs of matching socks I actually own.

I have many pair, have never counted them though! when I laundry them I tend to tie together to try and avoid losing them.

Haven't counted, I go through socks like they are candy though... not sure why.

I have enough matching socks for the week. But Everytime one sock goes missing I buy another pair

Also, I found out that Dec. 6 (last Wed.) was Christmas Sock Day in the UK. TK Maxx is the retailer encouraging Brits to wear their most festive Christmassy socks on that day in support of cancer research for kids and teens in the UK. Proceeds from the sale of Christmassy socks sold at this retailer will be given to the charity. How's that for getting into the spirit?

Socks are a must-have for me, especially in the winter. I probably have around 12 pairs. But some socks in my household do go missing! I supposed if we ever move out of this house, we'll find all of the missing socks. ;D

I've got about 6 pairs that are made to change with each other. Which means that they are made to mix and match socks, and I've got some plain colored socks that you should wear with the same matching sock!

Sock...I have a few..like 40 pair. Athletic socks, dress socks, socks for cold weather, socks for warm weather, weird patterned socks, and a couple pair only to be worn on Christmas.

did not know there was a national sock day .. that is hysterical. I have tons of socks I love them. I usually lose more of the hubby's socks but it is not usually the washer that eats them. I find them under the bed, in the family room etc. LOL

No, this topic on socks is not a contest and it IS a legit day, but I truly hope everybody keeps expressing their opinions and we all get something {maybe a :present:} out of it. :kiss:

I usually wear black dress socks or white short socks with my tennis shoes. So I can easily match my socks.

All of my socks match. I haven't counted how many pair I have. Some are athletic socks, some are anklets. Most of my socks are plain black.

Surprisingly, I have a huge quantity of matching sock pairs (approximately 40 pairs. And YES, I counted them, LOL). Like many people, I do tend to lose them, especially when doing laundry.

I have two whole drawers full of matching socks. This is because my husband is always worried about us not having enough socks and he buys them whenever he sees them on sale. I have enough brand new socks to wear for the rest of my life it seems.

Happy National Sock day, I have more than five or six pairs of sock that match.

I love my socks I buy the package at a time or I will lose them. I see one sock in the hallway never to see the other again.

How may matching pairs? About 40! Every year, hubby gets me 3-4 pair for Christmas. I hate to tell him that i bought plenty of socks when I was working back in 2010 that I never wore yet. Add his 3-4 pair every year and what do you get? I don't have the heart to tell him either because he's so proud of what he gives me for Christmas. :)

I just got some new ones for christmas. with the old ones I have, I have about 27 pairs of socks. These days with snow, I change 3 or 4 times. Get wet fast . I don't wear boots :)

I will celebrate "sock" day because I am wearing them! In FL, we usually wear sandals, but this week it is full shoes with socks :P

As many as I need, depending on weather.

I don' have a count of how many socks I have total. I would say almost every pair I have is a matching pair though. I have white anklet socks, black socks, navy socks, trouser socks, and low cut athletic socks.
Today, the stores sell unmatched socks as PAIRS. The kids get these! :)

SOCK day?? hahahha i once wanted to make a sock chain letter, where you mail 10 socks with no mate to the people on the list... i figured i'd get 250, 000 socks in two weeks and would 4 sure make some pairs!! hahahah :silly: :silly: :silly:

I have more socks than I need! Last winter, a local family center that helps people who need food and clothing and help with their bills put out a plea for socks. They said their sock pile had been depleted because there was so much need in cold weather. So if you have more socks than you need, you might find a place that would be happy to pass them on for you.

I probably only have 15-20 pairs of matching socks but since I wash clothes frequently its not a problem for me not to have more. I don't wear socks everyday either. If I'm home I usually just wear my houseshoes with no socks.
