My wife used to have a cleaning crew come in once a week at a cost of forty dollars. Times got tough and we cut back to two weeks at seventy five dollars each. We rearranged our goals and found that we could do a lot of the cleaning ourselves if we attacked it for an hour on Saturdays and an hour on Sundays. This allows us to have a cleaning lady come in once a month for eighty dollars a visit. My parents just hired a cleaning lady that comes in twice a week at sixty dollars a visit (and there place is small). I had a cleaning lady ask me for a paid vacation...to get paid to not clean my house. I told her that I would be happy to give her a paid vacation but that I would also require a copy of her social security card, signed W-4, and completed application as I would be providing her with a 1099 form so that she could pay forty percent of her income to the government by way of taxes that I was sure she was claiming any way. She passed on the paid vacation idea.

You have to look for a local person that does this type of work.

It is not easy to find someone the is dependable. Maybe you can get some recommendation from family and friends. I pray that you find someone soon.

Have a house cleaning party

$40 an hour? Really? I need to quit my job and be a maid! Maybe this person is living in denial or a dream world.
I would think more like $10 an hour is what normal people actually get.

lol. Yeah I highly doubt she turned in any of the cash she received for cleaning houses. If I was going to pay that much I would tell them straight up I would be sending them a 1099. Don't want to pay taxes then don't charge an outrageous price.
I know a woman who was drawing welfare and food stamps and had a "cleaning business" that she done really well at. She got paid cash for the jobs she done and had people feeling sorry for her.
I turned her in but apparently they didn't care. I gave them her cell number and told them her name and told them just call the number and tell them you want her to clean your whatever (house, trailer, car, apartment, office building) and she will give you a price and tell you she needs paid in cash.
I am not paying anyone on a weekly or monthly basis to do anything if they are not a legit business. Not paying someone cash. I pay too much taxes out of my check for others to draw welfare and then work for cash.

Most companies will charge a bunch for a few hours of cleaning, but $40 is a low price for companies these day's. The only way you would find somebody, would be an independent person, family or friends to help with the cleaning! Good luck!

What these maids steal and sell adds the other 30 bucks. I knew Albanian and Dominicans who were "maids" and heard the horror stories from my neighbors on how these ppl even stole the nanny cams that were supposed to be hidden.

I know, I almost fell off my chair ! And i live in no mans land Minnesota, I figured 10 to 15 bucks a hour and i'm getting all these crazy quotes of 25 plus a hour and the $40.00 floored me! >:( >:( >:(

Wow 40 does sound like a lot, then again it is a hard job though. I've never had a maid or anything but I figured it would be a fairly low figure.

I never had a professional cleaning service clean for me, so I can't really answer that part of your question. But I have heard that they can be rather pricey. Back when I was a teen, I would offer to clean my relatives' houses for like $20 for the whole day. I mean, when your 14, have no job, and want a new video game, every little bit helps! So I used to go on the weekends to clean mainly my grandmother's house, but sometimes my aunt's or my cousin's. I wouldn't mind picking up a cleaning job as a second source of income, but with a baby on the way, it's probably not the smartest idea.
-
That price is not as far off as you think. I know several companies in my area where it is $125.00 for 4 hours. To pat less you almost have to get someone who works for their selves and wants cash.
-
For $40 an hour I'll teach my dog to clean!!!
-
Not everyone can do good cleaning ...
-
$40/hour is very high, I'm sure you could find cheaper options, perhaps put an add in a local paper or call local cleaning services and ask for some referrals. I don't think they'd all charge that much.
-
Hopefully, you will find someone to help you with the cleaning. Good luck on your mission.
-
I have never hired professional help to clean up after moving. $40/hr is expensive. Are you sure you did not hire professionals who specialize in cleaning out hoarder’s home pile full of trash? Those do take a lot of work if you ever saw one. :sad1:
-
No, but I am thinking about such company business.
-
40 bucks an hour, darnit I need to get a cleaning job!
-
Have you check the local newspapers or Craiglist or Care.com? When my daughter babysit she signed up to Care.com and found many part time babysitting jobs and they also had people willing to clean homes on the site
-
Why is the cleaning industry dominated by women ? How about cleaning men start a movement ?
-
It's probably because their independent and have to cover a lot of costs on their own?
-
$40 an hour IS cheap. I hired Merry Maids just to do one floor of my house ... over $400. They are insuranced so it's covered if they steal/break anything, but I still think it's a ridiculous rip-off. Which cleaning lady is $40 an hour? I'd gladly hire her. Lol.
-
No I haven't but if people charging that much and getting paid, it seems very lucrative to me. I just cleaned my house so someone needs to pay me.
-
I've never hired a house cleaner (wish I could) so I'm unsure of the prices. Did the $40.00 an hour include them providing all cleaning supplies? I would imagine if supplies are furnished by the cleaner the fee might be a bit higher.
-
Surely you can find someone who has their own company. Ask around - someone will have a suggestion for you. Also check online in your area.
-
That's a ridiculous price! I have no idea what they charge here, but I don't think it's that much.

The mom of a friend of my son's told me she needed help, and would it help me to be her cleaning lady one day a week.
She was such a sweet lady, and appreciated her thinking of me. She did it in such a sweet manor, I was not offended.
That helped me as a newly single mom in a big way.

OH I wish I had one. I hate cleaning, doing laundry, everything about it !!! But I can't afford to have someone so I guess I will be doing it forever

And here I just cleaned my daughter-in-laws house for $15.00 an hour and spent 11 hours doing it. The renter moved with out cleaning any thing. I only wanted to charge $10.00 and hour. But this was to save my niece some money and the owner said $15.00 that the young lady need to learn a hard lesson about renting and not cleaning as she moved out. I could have charged for more hours but didn't want to. I love my niece but right now am very disappointed with her. I know her mother taught her better, But wow $40.00 an hour (wow) If I should have to do this again I already have a young lady that will come in and help me all day for $10.00 and that is great . Of course I will be with her doing thins too. Just to get through faster.
-
I think you should call around to find someone who will help with or do your cleaning. If you are disable, I am sure they have programs like that. Good luck.
-
My girlfriend use to do that and 40.00 is a bargain. I am going to be very blunt here and none of any of you have any idea what you are talking about. You have to buy all the supplies, you have to be bonded, you have to have a licence, you have to use your own car which has to have special insurance to get there. Need I go on. Like I said a real bargain.
-
Price really determined by area you live in, but if you are near a college or high school, $10-15 an hour is a decent rate. You can also offer to pay per click of time. That way if young kid or retired that can't work fast, will still get job down. 😀
-
$40 is too much just to come in and do a little something.

Oh, I wish I was there! I would help you and it wouldn't cost much, if anything. I would do it just to do a good deed for someone who needs it unless it was something that was really difficult and took a ton of time.

Well, I forgot in my previous post but I saw an ad recently in my local area and a private person was advertising at $20 per hour. The ad stated that if "deep" cleaning was involved, the price was $25 per hour. I guess I'd have to talk with the person and have her define "deep" cleaning and give me examples.
-
$10 a hour is normal here but I can't even afford that and I am disable also. I do just what has to be done but I really wish I could afford a really deep clean.
