Title: Morning person or night owl?
Post by: debidoo on May 31, 2018, 04:49:56 am
Are you a morning person or a night owl? I have never ever been a morning person.  It makes me physically sick seriously to get up early.  I am 64 and I don't think my internal clock will ever change at this point   :o :o :o :o

I used to be a night owl, never a morning person. Now the older I get, the earlier I go to bed. I guess I'm neither one.

Definitely a morning person but forced to be an all day person by virtue of working sixteen to twenty hours days. My capacity begins to show diminishing returns at hours nineteen and twenty. I took a vacation day from my day time job, today, in order to put in a huge day at my night time job which is more production based. My close out is on Saturday and the pay check will arrive on the day that my wife and daughter go on vacation. I may take tomorrow, and Monday, to do the same. I have eight weeks of vacation of which  only two weeks may be carried into 2019. I will aim to visit my parents who's lives are beginning to wane annd December is usually a heavy month at my second job so I may take that month off to pocket some additional cash.

I can do both, since I don't sleep late in the mornings, if I stay in bed after 7 a.m. I would get a headache, but I go to bed any time after 10 p.m.

I usually feel ill if I wake up really early via alarm or something, if I wake up naturally that can be okay but it doesn't happen too often. I am much more of a night person though.

I was a night owl as a kid , then i started to enjoy more things you had to get up early to do , like fish, hunt and live on a farm !  Can't sit on your hiney or sleep in on a farm with 200 head of cattle , who want to eat.  And you're not starting to cut hay when you get  you're lazy butt out of bed at  9am your up when its just getting light out ! I turned morning person and allot has to do with the amount of light that passes threw you eyes.  I sleep near open windows and the day light comes in and i never shut my curtains , and have the day light bulbs in all my lamps and it works , once woke at 8am now i'm up at 5:30 with or with out a alarm.  And fishing is better in the mornings and you need to be in a tree stand before it gets light .  Life is too short to sleep all beautiful morning !! The early birds get the worms as they say !  8) :angel11: :silly: :rose: :glasses-nerdy: ;)

My Mom said I was a night owl as a baby and I never changed! I used to work early A.M. for 36 years and I was always there at the last minute. I was thrilled when they invented the snooze button!

I'm okay with mornings after I get in a groove working after a couple weeks but I've always loved midnight shift...dark...cool...sometimes creepy....people you work with more laid back or perhaps you work by yourself.

Kinda stinks when your trying to sleep though and the whole world is awake.... ::)

I'm a night owl myself, given the choice, that is. I prefer being up late and am more productive at night too. It's tough when I have to be an early bird, really don't feel like myself until the afternoon hits.

Title: Re: Morning person or night owl?

All my life from school and now work I've gotten up way before the sun.  Some days my body functions fine but other days I just want to go back to sleep.  My biological clock just functions better at night so it wants to be a night owl.  The problem is my mind, my thoughts, they work better in the morning.  It's like I'm two halves of a person.  My head is the morning person and my body is the night owl.  So as unusual as that sounds I have to say I am both.

After my teen years, I slowly became a morning person.

Work, mother-hood, and helping to raise four grand-kids (giving them breakfast and taking them to school), my pattern pretty set.

The first several years of retirement from all the above, I woke up 5:00 a.m, 6:00.

The last few years, I sleep in to 6:30 and up . Besides how could I have charge of our happy big veggie garden if I slept all day.

I am 75, and wake early morning, go to bed earlier than many I think.

I love to garden, I take walks, I grow sprouts inside. I try to stay healthy and vigorous.

My younger sister (65) commented to me recently how her neighborhood is so boring.  They get up at 6:00 am, in bed by nine, garden, like to walk in the woods near by etc. Her response to that was "BORING", "old fogies" etc.

Her summation was she wanted to move back to the Chicago area for the nightlife etc. She is also looking for a new man.

I emailed her back and told her (we are not close, but she knows this much about me) "Your sister is one of these boring, old fogies. I get up early, bed at a reasonable hour, not seeking night life, garden, and would LUV to have a woodsy area to walk through.  I try to walk daily".

No response back on that. Guess she feels I am a lost cause.....hmmm, wonder who is really lost.

Definitely a night owl.  I don't sleep well at any time so often end up falling asleep trying to work on the computer or any time I sit down.  I often miss chunks of movies when I try to watch one.
