I did. That was because my father made a big mistake by not checking a school year calendar and therefore planning a vacation that didn’t end until after school had just started. Because the first day of a school year is the day I never like to miss, I felt so miserable that I got sick through the whole vacation!

you lose important information maybe the most.

I didn't when I was younger but I went through something in college for a few semesters where I wouldn't go on the first day. I remember having my fourth class with the same teacher and he got upset with me and said he always went over it the first day of class. I had to be honest with him and I couldn't do anything but apologize.

I may have in middle school, can't remember. Those were not good times :confused1:
-
I very seldom ever missed school much less the first day.
-
I don't think I ever missed the first day of school.
-
Nope, I never missed one and my daughter has never missed one either.

I never missed the first day of school. I did miss many days in between during High School. I was labeled a chronic truant. Attendance was taken in home room every day so I would show up for home room and exams. My grade point average was above a 'B' but two years into this routine my process was discovered. My first high school was among the first in the nation to have forced integration which is a horrible idea at the high school level, after young adults have become set in their ways. There was a lot of violence. Kids were being shipped in that didn't want to be shipped in and kids were being shipped out that didn't want to be shipped out. Had this process occurred at a younger, more impressionable age it, most likely, would have better results.

Yes, but it was because I was transferring to a high school I was unfamiliar with due to my family moving to another place.

 :glasses-nerdy: :silly: I don't recall missing the first day of school, since the first year I attended to the last year I attended school. I guess my Mom knew about school days and we had to go. :glasses-nerdy: :silly:

My homeschooled kids start on a Wednesday this year, which I thought was odd but as I think about it I think I can remember starting in the middle of the week one year, which can throw parents off.

I have heard where kids fake sick so they don't have to go the first day. It's crazy cause eventually you have to go eventually. I would rather my first day be everybody else's first day too.

lol....nope

Why would I tattle on myself? Even years later?

One year in college I didn't have any classes on the actual first day of classes. But that doesn't really count I guess. Other than that I almost forgot that I had class one day. Again that probably doesn't count.
-
I did when I was a teenager because the weather made us late from getting back from our summer vacation.
-
I don't remember but I probably didn't.
-
I may have but don't remember. If I did, I would be at home when I'm sick.
-
Not that I recall
-
Never missed the first day, maybe a few others.
-
I don't think so but school days were many years ago
-
Not that I remember, and my own children  never did either. It is certainly an important day to get the school year off to a good start.
-
yes in college but that was a long time ago over 30 years.
-
Nope. Missed an average of 30 days throughout each year, though.
-
Yes I have missed the first day of school multiple times.

I am 77 years old and I can remember my first day of school. I cried just about all day. I had never been away from my Mother before. But when I got use to it, I loved school. I joined the band in school and played the clarinet in for 6 years. Those were the happyest days for me. I still have my clarinet but I don't play it anymore. Have a good week.
-
No, not that I am aware of; my family generally was pretty good with following the school's calendar.

As far as I can remember I never missed the first day of school and my children have never missed the first day of school and my grandkids have never miss a first day of School. To God be the glory!
