I would love to recycle but hubby isnt really up on it. we do bring back the cans to the store and get our 10 cents deposit back thou. I really do think that my state should add the 10 cent deposit to all water bottles too so that they are also brought back to the store. We also bring in scrap metal. Does that count as recycling?

i recycle a lot! in my garage i have two trash cans, one for trash and the other for recyclable materials. when the second can is full, i take it to the side of my house where is separate it. soda cans go in one bag, soda/juice/water bottles in another, and milk bottles in a third. everything else goes into the big blue "recyclable" can from the trash company. then i take my bags to the local recycling company every few months, and usually get about $50.

I Recycle and I try to find new ways to use empty things instead of throwing them away. Not that I'm lazy or cheap, just hate to waste stuff.

We recycle everything we possibly can and have been doing so for many, many years.  Actually, we have a very nice curbside recycling service. They take everything in one 90 gallon container, so there is no sorting.  The recyclables are sorted at the facility.  Plastics #1-7, steel and aluminum cans, glass, paper, cardboard, paperboard, plastic bags, cookware all go in the one bin which makes it SO easy.  We used to have no curbside service and would have to take all the recyclables, pre-sorted, up to a drop-off in the city.

The items which we can't put in the bin, like electronics, aluminum foil, scrap metal, used oils/chemicals/etc, we take either to a local facility or the bi-yearly hazardous waste drop-offs.

It really is a shame that it has taken this long for recycling to become more 'it' and mainstream in this country. :angry7:

I recycle plastic and glass bottles, newspapers and plastic bags, but I have to drive them to a recycling center because our trash company doesn't have a recycling container or collects for it.  I give all my aluminum cans to my dad because he cashes them in every now and then as well as copper.  I just like throwing away less because it makes taking the trash out easier.

I recycle aluminum cans, but I don't recycle anything like plastic water bottles or glass even though I think I should. I've never really gotten around to doing that.

I recycle aluminum cans, plastic and glass.  If my apartment complex had a recycle bin for the rest I would recycle more, but they don't.
