Do you get your ears professionally cleaned in a doctor's office? Or do you handle ear wax yourself? I go to the doctor's to get my ear wax drained every couple of years. In the meantime, I use the over the counter ear wax loosener -- not sure if it actually works, but it does make my ears pop. Awhile back, I had a nurse recommend earwax candles. I've never used it, but according to her, they work. What do you use? I literally have been partially (and temporarily) deaf from the amount of earwax that has accumulated in my ears.

I use ear cleaners..
Alot of people give me grief over it
I also apparently clean my ears to much
Have you ever heard such a thing?
Anyways.. I have never had my ears professionally cleaned..
I do wanna try that one device they came out with not to long ago
that you put in your ear and it cleans it for you. Not sure how well
that would work or if it does work.. But i mean.. I hate having my ears
feel disgusting so i clean em out.. didn't know there was a right or a wrong
or even if there is a right or wrong.. but i would probably get sick at the sight in a
doctors office i have a terrible gag reflex.. and it let's me know XD
I once had to get my nose sucked up at the doctors office because i had surgery
and there for a while.. i felt like it was gonna be a everyday thing..
ugh.. that was super disgusting ...

I bought the ear wash where you squirt the warm water in the ear. It really works. Have allergies so my ears get clogged up sometimes.

I do not have a problem with ear wax. Never have.

I make candles out of mine... :silly: ;)

never had a problem with mine...Hubby uses peroxide in his...

Interesting how some people have the problem and some people do not.
-
I've done it both ways, in the doctor's office and using an over the counter softening solution, then rinsing out with water. Either way, it feels great once they are de-waxed! Getting it done at a doctor's office is almost like getting a spa treatment, and way less trouble than doing it yourself!

I really don’t have a problem with earwax anymore when I was younger I had major ear problems and they flush my ears out and ever since I’ve not had any more problems with earwax
-
I have to get mine done by a doctor every two years because my ear canals are strangely shaped and lock in a lot of wax. Using Debrox doesn't work, but my doctor makes me use it every day for the week before I go to her for professional ear wax removal because it loosens it and makes it easier for her to do her job.

I clean my ears everyday. The wax can easily build up into a hard ball. It's best to be consistent than it is to end up at the doctor.
-
funny, had that done last year and the nurse even said to keep em' clean to buy some Colace at the drug store as that loosens the wax so you can maintain at home - nice tip... and effective, too!

Yeah, I use Debrox before going in to see the doctor too.

I don't have a problem with wax in my ears, I keep them cleaned.

Have you ever had your ears candled? Not sure that it is any more effective, but it is an alternative way to clean out some of the wax?
-
I haven't tried them. I'm afraid I'd set my hair on fire. Does it really work?
-
:-\ It kind of depends I guess. I've tried it a few times in the past. I had a friend who learned to do it and so she used me as one of her test subjects to 'practice'. It was relaxing, but I'm not sure how effective it was for me. (But it was free!) She ended up giving up that 'line of work' but I would imagine someone who is good at it and with a lot of experience would be worth a shot.

Are you really Shrek??? LOL

I don't go to the doctor for cleaning. I just use hydrogen peroxide every now and then then they get clogged.
-
I just use a Q Tip at least once a week. I have a little bit of a problem from my allergies but nothing that can not be taken care of with a quick clean.
-
I clean my own Ears every day. If I need anything to help get it out, I just buy the meds over the counter.
-
I do as I wear hearing aids and having a professional do works better for me, as it is sometimes deep in the earn canal.
-
To modist to talk about this on line , i hear fine , and my personal habits are no ones bee's wax hahahahahha
-
I have never had a problem with ear wax in my ears, I clean my ears regularly with a Q-tip
-
Hubby was told to have GP irrigate every couple of months and Never use Q tips. In between he squirts vinegar into his ears while in the shower. Seems to work so far!
-
I use q-tips but not real often I don't usually have that much ear wax typically which I don't know if that is bad or good. Now here is something weird my sister-in-law said her granddaughter's er was is gray/black color now that is new one to me.
-
No problem here.
-
Be careful with your ears...do not hurt them!
-
My husband has problems with ear wax build up but I have never had any issues with it.
-
Never thought I would be talking about ear wax but now that it has been mentioned, I saw a commercial for an ear cleaned that at first I thought it was a tooth brush but turns out it has a spiral think on the end. So you insert in the ear and turn. I supposedly is better than a qtip that just pushes it in but I have to say it was a gross little gadget that shows all the junk that just came out...ewweeeee
-
I either do it myself or have a family member help me out.
-
I have never had my ears cleaned at the doctor's office. I usually take care of it myself. Every couple of months I use a little bit of peroxide in my ear. It will bubble and clean your ear.
