Their opinion and vote is not worth any more than yours. I also like to see who wins. maybe that comes from living in an area where I know a lot of people who work in that industry.

I used to love watching the Oscars when it was still about movies but haven't watched in a few years. It's hard to ignore all the politics when the winners turn their thank you speeches into soapboxes. You can't escape reality anymore, even temporarily to watch a half hour tv show.

We were both heavy into movies and talking about actors/actresses. Now that she has passed I watch and feel her watching with me. I don't really care who wins since it is never something I actually went to the movie house to see and it's no longer about who deserved to win but who need an Oscar to make people go see it in the movie house.
