Title: Change your clock
Post by: gwilson31 on March 09, 2019, 05:33:31 pm
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour at 2AM.  Spring Forward/Fall Back.  :) :)  I usually wait until morning because I don't stay up until 2AM.   I used to like this night when I worked overnights  but I dis-liked turning them back in the fall.

I hate Daylight Saving Time! What good does it really do?! It just delays daylight and harmfully affects mental health! We should stick to standard time! DST was never a good idea to begin with!

I doubt anybody will get up at 2:00 AM and set their clocks ahead.  Not sure why people think you have to do it at 2 AM exactly.  But I have heard of people who do. lol.

I set mine before I go to bed.  I completely forgot it yesterday until about 8 last night.  Usually it is online and on the TV more.

How does it harmfully effect mental health?  I have never understood how people say it takes them weeks to recover from the time changing.  I don't see how it could take over one day.

I do agree with pick one way or the other and leave it alone.  I like it the way it is right now.  I heard something about a couple of states were opting out of this and leaving it the same all the time.  Now THAT would be confusing.  This state does it.  This state doesn't  smh

I don't get it either. It's only an hour, and it's only one day a year. I can see if you work weekends or night shifts, but you know it's coming, so plan ahead. Go to sleep earlier maybe?

It's never affected me at all. Do other people get exactly the same amount of sleep every night? Sometimes I get 8 hours, sometimes only 4 or 5. Yeah, sometimes I'm tired in the morning - well almost always, but that's what coffee is for.

I did forgot to set my Clock up an Hour. When I woke up, I thought it was Five in the Morning, but it was actually Six in the Morning. I ran late this Morning, but it was not too bad because it is Sunday.

I usually do it when I go to bed the night of but I forgot until this morning. Most of my stuff automatically updates but I do have a few clocks to change. The one in the car is hard to change.

Always change them the day before and also check the smoke detectors at the same time.  Even went to bed an hour earlier last night so I wasn't running late today.

Did that early yesterday evening for the two clocks we have in house, that  need to be changed manually. Hope spring weather is right around the corner.

I make sure I change at least one clock before I go to sleep, that way you don't have to stay up or get back up.

I don't have a clock in my bedroom and use my phone to look at the time (changed automatically). When I went into the kitchen and looked at the time on the stove, I was so confused for a minute!  :)

I wish they would just leave Daylight Savings year round.... before switching it to Daylight Savings, it was light by 6am & dark by like 5:30ish... ridiculous.  Why do we need it to be light so early in the morning & everybody ready for bed at 7pm -- we're not farmers.

I'm going to be loving that extra hour of daylight in the evening tonight :)

Oof, we don't change where I live but my phone was set wrong and automatically changed... I thought I overslept an hour! I don't know you all cope with this nonsense lol

I have wondered how it works for people who work in factories and work 3rd shift. lol.  Because they are working 9 hours in the fall and only 7 in the spring.

lol WHY would you have to stay up or get back up?  Are people really that silly?  If you forget just change them the next day when you realize the rest of the world's time is different than yours.

You do realize that without farmers you would starve to death...right???

People get cranky and counterproductive when they don’t get enough sleep at night. A whole hour of sleep lost is still a huge amount of time for some people!

Then you go to bed an hour early or sleep in if you don't have to be anywhere. You don't have to lose an hour of sleep.

Harmfully affects mental health  ??  Who, what , where, when and how ??  Does changing the clocks affect mental health ??  I'm guessing because  these people might have to get out of bed at a differnt time.   I think if a person is that messed up then the place or the people around them  need to keep the facts to them selfs  not to cause harm . Simple don't change their clock! and deal with it for the time needed.

But it is ONE night.  Sleep an hour later Sunday morning.  Problem solved.  People act like this screws them up for months.  That is what I don't understand.

Well you have to change your clocks.  You can't go along in your own little world by your own time. It is one day. There is no way the time change could mess you up for weeks.  Change all your clocks and go on with life.

It takes me awhile to adjust to DST.  I have a hard time sleeping, so when we "spring forward" and the clock says 11 pm, my body clock says its only 10 pm.  But what can you do?  I adapt.

I did not forget.  I really hate losing the morning  light, but love the light in the evening.  Guess I cannot have it both ways :)

Thankfully my cell phone changes automatically ... I slowly change my other clocks as I notice them.

The only reason I disliked spring forward this year is because I worked late Saturday night and had to get back up to open around 8:00 for another 10 hour shift.  My wagon was dragging .. LOL

We change those that need it the night before. But I go  to bed by  the time  on my cellphone. always  wake up before I  need to so I didn't care. But there was a time at work at the Hilton, I reminded those who had to work that  Sunday to be sure  they  changed  the time to get to work on time. Well low and behold when I  got to work, there was not a soul there, not the cook, nor the waiters.  But I did have a crew  there waiting  for breakfast.  The crew  was shooting the ledgn of  the Lone Ranger.  So all I could do was  pour coffee and juice.  Took all of their orders and  they left. Called the boss and when every one showed up I  had all the orders filled and too them to the  crew. thank heavens we warming  trays in the van. Yep I got the $50.00 tip. No  I did not share it either.
