One of my FB friends son was crying. Her husband said to the little boy to "stop crying like a little girl" what does that even mean? boys have feelings and emotions, why not express them when needed, aren't boys human too?....this for some reason really bothered me....what do you think?

Girls do cry easier than boys or women easier than men. I see nothing wrong with men showing emotion. But I would not want to be with a guy that cried all the time. I remember guy I dated that told me he never cried, he didn't even cry when his mom died. We were talking later and I was saying how I don't see anything wrong with men showing emotion. So then he is all I cry about everything. Well make up your mind.
I don't think it is right to fuss at a boy (kid) for crying and call him a girl.

I had girl and boy babies  girls do cry easier. If, I learned anyway, if you let kids cry they will cry at anytime anywhere. Some cry can be controlled, self control is hard to learn but, agreed by how the statement was said, stated could been different. Dad maybe could of said 'Really, can this be controlled, control it young man!' Never call them a cry-baby, stays with them could be forever.

Some kids do cry too much. Some of them do not want to here no or wait at all. I get more annoyed when boys cry for every little thing more than girls. I saw a little boy burst into tears because his paper had a tear. I think that is a little too emotional.

That is so mean of him. I believe boys have feelings and should cry if need be. Really, cry like a girl, so what if he did.

That sounds nothing but stupid!

Yes it bothers me because of this idea that boys shouldn't show emotion I believe that it gives a lot of men problems in relationships. It is BS it doesn't make them effeminate and only in my opinion forces them into a life of hiding their feelings.

When Jesus' good friend Lazarus died, Jesus himself gave way to tears. Jesus, the greatest man to ever live on this earth, cried real tears.
If the King of God's Kingdom can cry, it's O.K. for men, boys, girls and women to cry when necessary.

Good point Bet and let us remember Jehovah has feelings too.Times in the bible when mankind hurt his heart from disobeying. And he listened too.Like when Abramham asked him RE destruction of Sodom and when Moses supported Aaron.

I agree. Particularly sad when it a very young child who does not know how to control his emotions, it is a shame to try to curb them...then they often have trouble with emotions forever.

Boys have emotions too, I know a grown man with grown kids, that shows more emotions than his wife. There are men that have this mentality and it is hard to break it. But boys can cry too,

I am surprised that no one commented on how insulting to females this is. What a diminutive statement. It is comments like this that insure that women take a back seat to men. Regardless of whether females cry more or not, this statement was oppressive to women and should be offensive to everyone. Trying to control someone else's feelings is another matter. Bottling up one's emotions can only last so long before the repression manifests itself and, sadly, the result could be an inappropriate behavior that no one understands. How many times do you hear someone saying "He/she was such a nice person...a little quiet, but the perfect neighbor. I can not believe this atrocity happened!". One statement, alone, may not cause this but over the course of time, as a person endures a steady diet of insensitive statements, the impact can be very detrimental to a being's mental health.

That's a horrible thing to say to a kid; boy or girl. SMH
-
I agree, boys have feeling also and should show them sometime.

It bothers me too. To constantly tell boys they have to hide their feelings is not healthy. They should be able to cry and laugh just "like girls" do - healthy ones, that is, that don't go around hiding their feelings from others.
