I really wanted to cash out by check, but it said that I had to get a verification call. But, every time I selected either option (call or text), it failed. Why? I felt like I didn't have a choice by to opt in for Direct Deposit. I'm not happy because I really wanted a check :'( Please fix this.

Repost this problem on the support tab and open a ticket for them to contact you, they always respond when I have a problem!

I know that other members have had problems verifying by phone call or text message and I do not know how the problem ever got solved, if it did.
I assume that you have a cell phone only. It possibly has something to do with your provider.
I suggest that you open a support ticket.
I get my money sent to PayPal and there has never ever been a problem.

The first couple of cashouts I did the check and it took to long to get my money and then got worried the check was lost so I switch to Paypal and have not had any problems. Usually get paid a day or two before the 20th.

I would send in a support ticket. You can send in a support ticket here https://www.fusioncash.net/tickets.php. I have not cash out yet but I want to us paypal because it is more convenient for me.
