Came across this hilarious story (https://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/the-entire-world-is-disgusted-at-americans-for-how-they) the other day.
Apparently, most of us microwave their water instead of using a kettle. Apparently, this is a big deal so I actually invested in an electric kettle (https://bestelectricwaterboilers.com/breville-bke820xl-variable-temperature-1-8-liter-kettle-review/) to be civilized and its life changing :)
Unofficial poll, who here uses a water boiler/electric kettle to heat up their water?
-
I always use a kettle on my stove.
-
I use both.
-
i am a tea drinker. i have a kettle for the stove. i recently purchased an electric kettle because my stove takes so long and because it is very hot in the summer. should receive the electric kettle shortly. :rainbow: :peace:
-
I will use both, depending on what it is for. But actually I rarely heat water.
-
I prefer stovetop and kettles myself. I don't really care for microwaves at all but will use it on occasion. When I was single and my microwave oven died, I never replaced it and never wanted to. I survived very nicely.
Now, as far as being disgusted with how people, Americans or not, choose to heat water, all I can say is: Whatever works for you is what works for you. I really don't care nor am I disgusted. We're all entitled to our preferences.
-
I use my coffee maker to make hot water.
-
I use a kettle on my stove. I do not really use my microwave all that often.
-
Depends on how much water I need to heat. If for a cup of something hot to drink I would use a microwave. For cooking I use the stove. As for HOW I heat water in my own home I don't really think that is any of anybody's business. But it is nice to know that somebody has such a pathetic life they want to complain about that. smh
-
I either boil water in a pan or use the microwave.
-
Microwave. I respect the use of a kettle but I don't see the point in buying one since the microwave heats water just fine, plus all kinds of other stuff too.
-
Generally I only heat water on the stove for cooking noodles. On the rare occasion I have a cup of tea, I use the microwave. I'm not going to buy a kettle for the handful of times in a year that I drink tea.

Well here is the thing with that. And I was thinking about this last night. I can use a tea kettle to heat water for hot drinks but if you do not use all of it will it hurt to just let it sit on the stove and heat the same water again the next day? And a microwave IS faster. haha

Well some how I ended up with 3 of them. And didn't have to buy any of them. lol

The world is disgusted with how Americans heat water = they are just jealous
I use my Keurig to get my water hot for tea or hot chocolate or whatever. Sometimes I put the already hot water in the microwave to get it even hotter. I don't own a kettle, really have no use for one, but I do like the aesthetics of a nice kettle left out on the stove.
-
I use my Keurig to get my water hot for a cup of tea which is a rarity unless I am sick. If I want a whole pot I use my Bunn coffeemaker.
-
not since I got a microwave.
-
I don't drink hot tea, so I make my ice tea by putting it out in the sun. Sun tea it is called. I only drink about a quart in 2 days. We may heat up left overs if any is left. I don't use my electric stove anymore then I have too. Well for cooking I do. But if it means I have to heat my oven up to 350 degrees to heat left over it isn't going to happen,
-
I heat a cup of water in the microwave. Large amounts of water, I use a Pot on the stove. I don't have a tea kettle.
-
I use the microwave for heating water up often. I use it also just to warm things up that I have cooked
instead of making a big mess, it is less work to use one bowl to heat and eat.
-
i dont drink tea but if i was drinking hot chocolate i would use the microwave to heat it up.
-
We use the stove to heat hot water,
-
really depends on what i need the water for...I use my coffee maker for a cup of tea or coffee...i have a tea maker for a jug of tea..recipes i may use the microwave
-
It depends. I mainly use the microwave, but if I fix tea, I use a kettle because it heats faster and hotter.
-
Last year for Christmas I was given an electric kettle. I didn't think we would hardly use it, but we actually use the heck out of it! We use it for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, cup'o'noodles...you name it! Best gift ever!
-
I don't use a kettle or tea pot, to heat water i use a boiler like you use to cook food in, but for making hot chocolate i would use a cup to put in the microwave.
-
I use the stove and microwave, depending on what it is. Maybe I should invest in a tea kettle haha.
-
Microwave....
-
I do it both ways.
-
I use a small coffee maker. I do not brew coffee.
I boil my water and make hot apple cider, hot chocolate or
hot tea. This way, my hot water never taste like coffee.
-
I don't drink tea but I also find heating water for tea in the microwave is odd.
-
Controversy over this, but sewage and drug paraphphenalia wash ashore.
Long Island Sound looks more grey then "Father Time"!!
Pollution!!!
As true as that is, should we be overly concerned? Remind yourself of what the Bible says at Revelation 11:18, especially the very last part.
What is Jehovah's promise? How should we feel about that? Does Jehovah have everything under control?
-
Huh...I've never used the microwave haha. I always just use the stove top. Although I don't have a kettle, I just use a pot.
-
I think people need to stop worrying about what other people are doing to heat their water. What difference does it make to them anyway?

Exactly.
Some people, unfortunately, just like to find fault with others to make them feel better about themselves.
-
I have not owned a microwave in years so I don't heat water in a microwave. I drink tea a lot so I like to boil my water in a pan. I don't like kettles.
-
To heat my water...I always boil my water on the stove in a pot or I use a microwave. I use both.
-
I've never boiled water in a microwave. I'm a tea drinker and when I've got to boil water, even for soup, I put it on the stove. Yes, a microwave is faster, but I don't trust it to properly boil water.
-
I use to have an electric water heater and loved it. It broke and I haven't spent the money to get a new one. SO I microwave! :D
-
I drink pour-over coffee and hot tea. I heat all of my water for drinks in the microwave.
-
This is nothing new. It's been like this for quite some time. But it still is funny to look at the reactions all the time.
-
I don't mind either ways.
-
And we care what they think....because?
-
I heat it in the microwave if I need it really hot. I don't heat water that often.
-
I heat water on the stove but it's used mostly for cooking. I don't drink hot tea or coffee.
