Title: Memorial Day plans
Post by: dreamyxo on May 24, 2019, 10:44:51 pm
What are you all doing?  I'm working.  I always forget about Memorial Day when I'm picking my schedule so I never request it off.  I'll be making extra money that day so it's not a big deal.

I'm working today (all OT).  I will go to church and then to my mother's for the afternoon.  Monday I am going to Lexington to see my pride and joy, Edison, my 2-year old grandson.

We are celebrating our grandsons 8th birthday.  It was Thursday so we have been celebrating for a couple of days already.  We usually have a bbq but it is suppose to be raining, so we may just eat and play games inside.  And of course we must remember and pay respect for the reason we have this holiday.

I don't really have any plans, I may pick up some ribs to barbecue, and hand out at the pool with the kids. It is supposed to be very hot that day where I live.

I will be remembering my uncle Donald who was killed at the age of 18 in 1942 when the Japanese sank the USS Astoria in the Battle of Savo Island. May God continue to rest his soul.

Extra house cleaning.

I use to work on a job and the same people would go in the day the new year schedule dropped and request ALL the holidays off so the same people got ALL the holidays off.  And we did not get extra pay for working on a holiday.

People in retail and fast food get regular pay.

It amazes me at how many people have no clue what Memorial Day is about.

We are just going to stay home as  we don't like to  travel on Memorial Day. There are so many people out and about, And we sure won't go to the  lake. It is the first warm holiday and it will be so crowded  with boats and  drunks, I do not know why they think  drinking is the celebrate.

It was my parents wedding anniversary today, so we went out of town to celebrate for that as well as a "kinda/sorta" memorial day celebration. We might have a barbecue just my BF and I!

Both my grandparents were in WWII so I do what I always do, by truly honoring the day for what it was meant, visiting a cemetery.  In respect to them and my father who was army, I cannot honor it any other way.

My son's boy scout troop is serving pancakes on Memorial Day morning before going to the parade. Other than that it will be nice and quiet.

Right. Memorial Day is not a day of celebration.  It is a day to remember those who died serving our country.  It amazes me at the people who have NO IDEA what Memorial Day is even about.

It doesn't kick off summer.

It isn't to remember ALL the people who have died.

It is to remember and honor those who died fighting in wars and serving our country.

I have no plans for this holiday. I've been home all day online. My dad went to visit his father's gravesite because he was a veteran. No cookouts for me either. Too hot outside.
