I used to take recreational classes, read for library reading programs, and watch a lot of PBS shows. What about you?

Remembering always being at the park after dinner and playing sports was on the softball, volleyball and relay race teams. It was right across the street and parents always knew where we were. Had a 8:30 curfew to be in front of the house so all our friends would come back to our house and sitting around talking or playing bean bags or hopscotch.

I used to wake up in the morning and ride a bike for a few hours. Then I went to deliver newspapers for a couple of hours. I had over 200 customers that I would walk daily . it was a lot different then than what it is now.

During the summer as a kid I detassled corn, baled hay, walked beans, and rode my horse.

I would spend a lot of time with family and friends, go swimming, and play outside. There was probably more but those are the main things that come to mind.

What is walked beans. I am a city kid. We spent a lot of summers in different places along Highway 101 and 88 in Northern California with my grandparents. He worked on the crews that build the roads. We spent time swimming and camping, picking blackberries (eating blackberries...LOL) I still love to go and see the giant redwoods. The fishing boats and logging camps in Eureka. We did lots of reading and board games when it rained. We learned our lesson and only got poison oak one time. (That was enough!)

My favorite summers as a kid were spent working for a YMCA camp on Catalina Island where I washed dishes about three one hour shifts a day, then the rest of the time were like living in paradise. We took the camp boats out fishing and skin diving, went on hikes, hunted wild pigs to roast over a spit on the beach, had glass bottom boat tours and spotlighted flying fish at night. Harvested 6 inch Red Abalone off the rocks at low tide, skin dived for Pacific Lobster and one unique adventure was in the cove right off our camp we could use a window box off the stern of a row boat to spot Halibut and spear them with a spear gun over the side.

My family is from the south. Every year from the time I was born until I was 16 I went there to spend summers with my cousins. I have a large family but I only have a couple of cousins who are close to my age. I loved going there and hanging out with my favorite cousins just being kids. Where I lived I didn't have cousins my age there.

I used to visit my family in Canada every summer when I was younger. I miss those days.

We always went to Panama City, Florida every Summer. We always had the time of our lives. My Dad always made sure that our Mom and My Sister and I had the best of Summers. We would also go Camping and Fishing a lot. My best time was the Trips to Florida though.

My brothers, sister and I would go outside and play with the other kids in the neighborhood outdoors all day. We would ride bikes, play games with marbles, play hop scotch, read and trade comics, climb trees, play hide and seek, and whatnot. It was a lot different then than it is now, that's for sure.

I worked on the farm in the tobacco fields, picking strawberries, tending animals, canning or whatever else needed doing. We never went on vacations.

We played outside all the time. We used to go camping just about every weekend. Weekends that we didn't camp, we would be at my grandparents' homes.

Until I was age twelve I spent the majority of my summers reading or bike riding. I started cutting lawns from age twelve through age fifteen at which time I took on several art time jobs. When I was eighteen I added summer classes to my three job routine and, upon graduation from college, focused on running and maintaining two full time jobs and a part time job. I traveled to different states when running marathons. After meeting my wife at age thirty one I began focusing on family plans and a more sedentary lifestyle. My vacations were more exorbitant with my wife. Once the kids were born I spent most of my time being a full time father and working two jobs around my children's activities (never missed any of their events). Now I look forward to hanging with my semi-grown up children and loving every second spent with them.

I was in gymnastics in the morning 3 days a week. Nights I had softball games and practices. On off days we would go swimming. As I got older I began shooting hoops in the driveway. I remember jumping off the garage roof a couple of times just to prove I wasn't scared to a few neighborhood kids. My knees wish I hadn't done that now.

I lived in a small town on a street where there were quite a few kids. I played outside A LOT! I rode my bike, played jacks, played hopscotch, played kickball and softball, played on school playground equipment that was just down the street, played tag, hide n' go seek, and Red Rover. When I wasn't outside, I played dolls or dress up at a particular friend's house or was home reading. I liked to read quite a bit and would visit the library often. Once in a while we would go to the local roller skating rink! Frankly, it was a great childhood and was a blast!!

I would play with my cousins during the summer. There was a pool in our complex and we tried to go swimming a couple of times. We'd go on the tennis court and try to play there too sometimes. I remember we'd also race our bikes up and down the street. Since I was out of school and we had cable I'd watch TNT toons until Noon on saturdays. A couple of summers our family had a family reunion with a barbecue as well.
