Ok I haven't had a dog since I was a kid. We are getting a puppy this Thursday, if/when she poops either in the house or yard, where do you put the poop? I feel dumb asking this but I need to know !!

Flush it! Just pick it up with toilet paper and flush it all down. Or pick it up and toss it in your outdoor garbage can. Try to use biodegradable bags, because otherwise that's a crap-ton of plastic bags in the landfills.
Congratulations on your new puppy! :dog:

Actually flushing it down the toilet is a good idea. We have an indoor dog and it goes on a pad. when it does its business, we flush it. And also not a dumb question. that is what we are here for :)

Thank you I appreciate you saying that :)

I clean it up with grocery bags and put it in my garbage can outside.

congrats on the puppy, dogs are great and very good companions (most of them anywways).
If the puppy is small, and it will stay small forever then flushing down the toilet is a good idea. But if your dog is going to be bigger than 205 pounds then the poop will be big and not worth it to flush since it will be really hard to pick up and carry, I suggest you buy the litter bags that pet stores have specially for dogs, pick up and throw in the trash can outside. In my neighborhood we have special designated poop trash spaces.

Thank you. We are getting a coated XOLO puppy that is suppose to be small. We did buy some bags yesterday so we will see how that goes. The woman we purchased from is paper training her so I hope that works out too :)

When I had a puppy I put its poop in the toilet most of the time and occasionally in the trash. My puppy was quite small and there wasn't much to its bowel movements. These little pups are like babies in many ways and can be a lot of work. However, they are such great pals! Be sure and find a vet that you trust. The first one I found was the cheapest but he turned out to have a personality I didn't get along with. I got another one quickly that I felt better servicing both me and my puppy.

Depends on where you live. If you live out in the county or country you can throw it in the woods. If you live in the city you can put it in little bags and throw it in the trash. I don't have a dog any more :( But that is what I done when I had mine. You could also flush it down the toilet.

Bear in mind that there's no such thing as a silly question. It's only a question that you hadn't yet heard asked and answered. Poop goes in the potty.
BTW, there are many people who take their dogs for walks in the park and fail to pick up their dog's leftovers, leaving the rest of us to either sidestep it or step in it. How unthoughtful!
Have fun with your pup. That stage doesn't last long and it's a trying time at best.

Flush it or put it in the outside trash can, so it wont smell in the house.

There is no such thing as a dumb question. I also want to say congratulations on your puppy it will love you unconditionally and give you so much joy. Enjoy

I have never had a house dog or puppy. I would not have known the answer to your question about what to do with the doggie doodoo.

Flush it or put it in outside trash cans.

It is pooping in the house that I had the problem with but I miss my little dog. I keep getting encouraged to get another but I haven't given it any serious thought. When my dog pooped outside I just left it but someone in our neighborhood said it can burn your grass also if you live in a neighborhood or apartment complex you are expected usually to pick it up with tissue or whatever and put in in a plastic bag to take home and flush.Well anyway enjoy your new dog.

Just put a little plastic baggy on your hand, pick it up, put it in a receptacle, and bring it inside to flush it down the toilet. You will be glad you did. There is nothing worse than trying to spend a summer afternoon in somebody's back yard and to walk into dog poop all over the place.

We got our puppy in the dead of a Michigan winter and she was less than 2 pounds - we pad trained her for the first few months. We'd just pick-up the pads and put them in the trash or I'd pick it up with paper towel/toilet paper and flush if it was a new pad.
-
Never thought of flushing it when I was training our puppies but is a good idea. Now that they are older we just use the litter bags that we purchase but we put them separate can outside that has a garbage bag in so we just grab the bag and put in it the larger can to be picked up. Just remember to keep it cover because it can attract rodents.

Put it in plastic and throw it in outside trash

Puppy Poop. I am just wondering if this is the right subject for this board. I have no problem with it but apparently every time I post something it is the wrong thing. I mean really. :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: :dog:
