I personally am not going to get the flu shot because I never do. I have thought about it but I have said what the heck. I haven't had it since 2002 so i'm not worried about it. I know people die every year because of it. And so what if this year is a bad flu season it doesn't mean I will get it. It just means that I might get it and my chances of getting it are probably higher.

No, but I'll make sure my kid gets his, especially the piggy flu ;D
-
This is the first year I'll be getting it since I was a kid. I have a crappy immune system.
-
I used to get the Flu every year and suffered through it in agony, then I started getting a Flu shot every year in 2000 and haven't had it since. I have Kaiser and they give me one free every year, so it's a no-brainer for me.
-
I do not think I have ever had a flu shot and do not intend on getting one this year. There are too many people with illnesses that demand they have a flu shot or face severe illness or death. I feel that at this point in my life, I can suffer through the flu, as miserable as it may be. I would rather another person who is diabetic, asthmatic, etc. have mine so they can live a healthier, happier life.

I cant recall ever getting a flu shot since I have been an adult. Ive giving a number of them with me being a nurse.

I got the flu shot like maybe 2 years ago. Ended up getting sick, I don't think it was the flu, but I was more suseptible to getting sick with another illness that was going around my work that the elderly were catching. But since then I havn't been getting the shot. I just don't believe in it. I think it causes other issues. That's just my opinion from experience. My dental office that I work in wants me to get it. Technically I don't have to due to what I believe in, so I just don't bring the issue up.

I have never gotten a flu shot and do not plan to do so now.

I am 48 and diabetic. I have gotten a flu shot every year for the last 2 to 3 years. I used to never get it until my doctor told me that since I was diabetic that I needed to get one.

My point exactly, by not getting a flu shot myself as a healthy 31 year old, these people have more available to them. We all know that the companies never seem to make enough for everyone. They truly need to get the flu shot in order to avoid a major decline in health or even death. I see no point in my getting a flu shot, since I am otherwise healthy. If I do get the flu, it goes away in a matter of a few days as long as I take care of myself. To the people who are diabetic, flu can really do a number on their sugar levels and the ability to control them. Asthmatics can actually stop breathing....and the list goes on and on.

I have gotten the flu shot and am waiting until the swine flu shot becomes available. All supplies of the regular flu shot have been given out in our area.

I dont think I get sick.
-
i wasnt going to get it , i think its sum kinda set up or something , plus i even hear they give u a piece of the Swine Flu and the vacine just so ur body can get used to it

I've never gotten a flu shot and don't plan on it. Normally, I will feel like I'm going to get sick (achy, stuffy, etc.) and it doesn't get any worse than that.

I am having trouble finding a place to get my flu shot at. My three children got their flu shot on Tuesday and now the two oldest were home sick from school today throwing up. Why does the flu shot seem to always make you sick when you get it to avoid getting sick?

Any doctors office should have flu vaccines (unless you're talking about the H1N1, in which case they're not really in full distribution yet). Walgreen's, CVS Pharmacy...in fact, I'd imagine any pharmacy would have access to flu shots.
Because a flu shot injects you with the actual flu. The vaccine has weakened or dead microbes that are the actual causes of the flu. Your immune system has a much easier time fighting off weakened or dead harmful microbes than it would have fighting off the fully functioning microbe. It takes quite a bit of time for your immune system to fight off a microbe it has never seen or can't recognize. By getting a vaccine that has a very weak version of the microbe, your immune system learns how to fight it off, making it less likely that you'll get the full disease/illness at a later date.

I was able to get my flu shot last week. I decided it was a good idea since 2 of our grandchildren had the H1N1 virus. Thank goodness they both got over it without too many problems.

I want to get the flu shots this winter, but here in Maine I was told that I don't qualify to get it at this time. That's a real bummer. I would like to prevent getting the flu if I can, so I hope I don't get the flu before I can get the shot. :'(

Flu shots are a complete waste of time & money. yet another American scam

Wouldn't go that far, but I personally don't believe in them, even though they are offered for free at my university. Of course, I'm 18 so if I do get it, it wouldn't be life threatening. For the older crew, it's definitely something to consider.
-
I think I will take my chances with out it. If I were around children alot though I think I might then.
-
i got one for free after donating blood and platelets (apheresis) 60 days ago
so i didn't plan on it but they offered it for free

I've never gotten a flu shot and I haven't had the actual flu since I was about 8 years old (26 yrs ago). My plan is to be as healthy as possible so that if I am exposed to anything, I can fight it off. I feel that my system would be better off fighting an illness/virus by itself.
-
I never get one. I hope that I don't ever regret it either!
-
NO! NEAVER EVER EVER EVER! They don't do any good and have a chance to kill you! BAL! :crybaby2:
-
I been thinking about it and I get mind free doesn't cost me a dime but am like the member before me can make you sick or even die.
-
Got a swine flu shot. Still thinking about a seasonal shot. I'll think about it even more if I get the flu..
-
My immune system is pretty weakened but I don't get the flu shot. Every time I did I got horribly sick so I just try to stay healthy by doing other things.
-
I never get the flu shot. I know that thousands of people die each year from influenza, but they are generally the elderly, children, or people with poor immune systems and prior conditions. I never get one because I know that there are more people out there who need it more than I do. If you are a healthy individual, there's not really a need to get the flu shot.
-
I get the flu shot for free at work (Iwork at a hospital).
but when they began to offera free H1N1 vaccine... I said "hell no!".. I think that people and the media made people fear it too much, and so a "quick fix" vaccine came in. I've seen horrible side effects from the H1N1 vaccine... and I will continue to refuse it until it's a much safer product.
