I'm afraid I'm going to need to start a fire. It's chilly in here. It's only 58 here at 12:30 p.m. It's very cool in the house. I hate this time of year because it will be too hot if I do start one but too cold if I don't. I go through more wood at this time of year because if I let it go out, I'd just need to start it the following day.

I grew up with a wood burner. I don't miss the work. I sure miss every thing else about them. The fire going out in the wee hours of the morning waking up to see your breath. LOL. boy we got dressed in a hurry.

I also dread this weather coming up turned on our pellet stove this morning to take the chill off seems the winter months last so long and cost so much money to stay warm
-
I just love this weather other than I get sick every year when the weather changes but the cooler weather is the best I can’t wait to have bonfires and cookouts sitting out at night I love this time of year
-
I rather enjoy this kind of weather hopefully it will kill all the bad germs hanging around I use my electric fireplace to warm up No wood burners for me Had coal furnace growing up and that was enough to last my lifetime

I'm guessing you live in the north (east or west) or the Midwest. I used to live outside of Chicago, and the winter months could be pretty oppressive because of the numbing cold and the deep, deep snow. But I've lived in Georgia for about 30 years, and now I wish there was even one day in the winter when it would be cold enough to start up the fireplace, LOL! :peace:

I hate this season. Today it’s 69 so semi warm but soon it will drop and the heat and fireplace will come on.
-
I love this time of year, actually I will love it closer to the end of the month. It is still close to 90 here, but the humidity is going down a little. It is better than a month ago though.

I know what you mean...I have been there!
A wood fireplace is not going to do the work.
Buy space heaters...the ones with dual controls.
Fan, fan with low/high heat. They will do the work.
In a warm day open your windows to let the cold air out!

i am also not looking forward to the coming weather. i just hope we have a long colorful fall in Ma and a very short not snowy winter. i know it is wishful thinking but i always have to try. :pumpkin: :peace:

I live here in the Georgia Mountains and the Weather is not bad yet. It is quite chilly in the Mornings here in the Mountains. I do have to start a fire in the Mornings, but come afternoon I'm ready for some A/C.

I live in central florida and so I don't have to deal with that problem usually although we do have some cold weather some years but not this early. But I can relate because back some years we lived in NC for two years and I couldn't wait to get out from the snow and cold. Sorry you are cold.
-
I feel your pain. I love the fall weather, but it becomes frigid too quick with winter.
-
I’m sorry, but you can’t always have good weather. It’s your responsibility to do whatever makes you the most comfortable no matter what! I guess you don’t have a thermostat that works, so it might be harder for you to ease stress.
-
I'm ready for some cooler temperatures, to be honest.
-
I dread the weather coming down a lot more (rain. sleet, snow)
-
It's amazing how fast the temperture dropped.

We had snow last week. Cold enough to turn on the furnace. Its warmer this week so the snow is going fast and the furnace is off. Good for the utility bill.

We are, in Colorado, already starting the winter weather. Wednesday provided us with a sixty two degree temperature drop which created an extreme pressure system causing wind sheer and dust/particle fogs limiting vision distances to about one hundred feet. Thursday provided us with about four inches of snow (we were expecting one to two inches). The first snow of the season usually results in dozens of car accidents and this storm was no exception with an estimates of over one hundred cars involved in accidents of one kind or another. Colorado has attracted many people from out of state that are not accustomed to driving in snow/ice conditions. Many of the new transplants do not seem to realize that an expensive four wheel drive vehicle is not a substitute for prudent and attentive driving.

It has just cooled off enough that we can open our windows in the evenings. As a desert dweller I love when the weather gets cold tbh, but I can understand the cold is a hassle in other parts of the country.

Me, too! I hate going out early in the morning (4:30-5:00 a.m.) and starting the car up. It usually starts to get warm by the time I'm at work. I only have a 3-4 minute commute if I don't get caught by the only red light on the route.

I don't think I have ever dreaded a winter like I do this one, we had such a nice long Summer and I don't want it to go away. I think we skipped fall.

70 today...58 tomorrow

In My area we have the Santa Ana Winds every fall for a couple of months. I HATE them. I have a daughter that is a wildland firefighter and I worry whenever the big firs, fire season starts. (She loves the work!)
