Title: Not My day in Christmas Shopping
Post by: sfreeman8 on December 05, 2019, 04:57:42 pm
In fact, horrible week. I tried to place an order 5 times to Game Stop and it was denied. Why I don't know. It would've been the 3rd year ordering a gift card from them. Never had a problem before. Tried calling the local store. Even though it was during store hours, no answer. Tried a couple times. No answer. That was Tuesday. Checked Game Stop's website. Order still denied. Tried calling the store again. Got an answer and hubby will have to run there for a card. This is what i try to avoid doing. He has more important things to do.  >:(

i wanted to buy a wagon for Hubby so he doesn't have to carry his firewood by the armload. Found the cart he wanted on 3 sites and was $10 off. Decided to go with ebay because of the Rakuten 2% cash back plus using PayPal and bank account to pay for it. Problem is ebay didn't use my "Preferred  Payment"  (PayPal) option. They used my credit card. I didn't WANT to use my CC, so I cancelled the order. They told me it will take 3 days??? So Cyber Week will be over as will the good deal. Then when I looked at my CC account, saw that they are offering 5% cash back if I place an order on Amazon. Hey, great....but I don't want to be double charged or recieve a double order, although hubby wouldn't mind.  >:(

Then I want to order a gift card for a BBQ place for grandson. The only way to order is through a phone call. Well, they don't open until 4 p.m. so I placed a "call back." No one called. So I tried calling. Busy, busy, busy. So I sent a message to them.

I decided not to do any more shopping today. What happened today took almost all day. Only one good thing happened and that's the game store.  So-how was your week?  ;D

Boy, I guess I was lucky.  I did not have any shopping problems.  My husband says he was not so lucky.  He would have said you had for him a successful shopping day..no money spent..LOL

I understand the cashback thing and I always try to utilize it. sometimes it is not  worth the aggravation with these websites for the cashback unless it is a major company. These little game companies are good for the gamer people that can go locally :peace:

Holly cow, that is a bad day or week! I tried to order a gift on a vintage toys website, had ordered from them before without a problem but not this time! I got a message about the name on my credit card didn't match the one with the store account which is B.S. So, I added my middle initial and I got another message saying I had used up all my chances to confirm the order. Make a long story short, about an hour later I tried again (my 4th attempt) but instead of paying with plastic I opted for Paypal and clicked pay with credit card. Paypal also used the few dollars I had in my account which I didn't want but figured it's just a few bucks and will reduce the bill on the card. My order went through and I was happy. Lesson here is to be careful! Next time I order something and need to use paypal, I'll make SURE they only use the the payment option I want or perhaps it's paypal doing what ever they want!? A few years ago anytime I used paypal they'd take what was in the account and put the rest on my card and they even withdrew from my bank! Gotta be VERY CAREFUL with these guys, they're somewhat dishonest. Lastly, Ebay is now charging a tax! I bought an item for $240.00 (free shipping) and they charged me $15.00 tax! Would have happened again but I shopped at fansedge instead, probably saved myself $10.00 as I only had to pay for shipping and NO TAX. Kiss my grits Paypal and Ebay!!

Yeh,nothing worse then feeling pressure to have to give a gift, rather then giving it from the heart when time is right, and avoid all the hustle and bustle.

I ordered a Christmas present for me about 10 minutes ago.  Can't wait for it to be delivered tomorrow.

Well for one thing Its GameStop Mate its been made public that they area really bad at what they do and even to a point where they scam people who don't know much about gaming tech and such, I myself have been had a couple of time by them as well. Its just bad luck sadly. Try Walmart or amazon next time they price match Xmas promos sometimes. There is still the X-mas sale coming up/ Happening right now so best of luck.

sFreeman8, I'm so sorry you had all that trouble. SO not fair.

I think things like that are why my blood pressure goes up so high sometimes. I let it get to me.

Don't let it get to you 'cuz you're worth having all good things.

:highfive: I appreciate your insights on the posting forum.

I would never order a gift card online when I could go to the store and just pick it up and have it in my hand.  I did get paid for a survey with a $100 virtual visa card and I used that to purchase a $100 Amazon gift card.  But that is about all I would ever do. Too big of a hassle if you do not get the card.  And I am pretty sure most have a disclaimer that says they are not responsible if you do not receive the email. (They are wrong but that is what they say).

Anytime you get a refund they always say it will be 3-7 days.  Which is wrong since they charge your card as soon as you hit the order button.  Think that is incorrect set your credit card up to send you an alert when something is charged on your card.  I placed an order with Chewy last night and with in 2 seconds of hitting the order button I had an alert saying a hold or charge had been placed on my credit card. lol

I do not order from eBay.  I don't trust random people to be honest.  I would rather deal with a legit company.  Most places it is impossible to get someone to answer the phone right now.  They are swamped with calls and people in the stores.  For people to be so broke there sure is a lot of spending going on. haha

Hopefully you can get it straightened out.  I am sure eventually it will but I can see where it would stress you until it does get fixed.

Game Stop is not a "little game company".  It is a nationally huge company.  I got a gift card there a few years ago but I either went to the store and bought the card or bought it at Walmart or Lowes.  Both of them places have the cards.  And honestly I wonder how that works because Lowes and Walmart are not making money when all people do is buy gift cards for other places.  Unless they get a small cut?  I am curious about that now.

Shopping online it not very easy. So many pictures too load. Takes quiet a while. The pictures don't show it all.

Interesting to see so many people interested and actually shopping online. But, I do feel like it is going to turn out to be a debacle with people with wrongful intentions trying to meddle into online shopping forums. I guess I don't want to lay out too much details.

You may want to use caution at shopping at Gamestop. Is there another store you can buy the same items at?

Ugh, all that runaround sounds awful! It seems to me in most scenarios, customer service seems to have gone by the wayside! Well, I hope you have better luck with anymore Christmas shopping you might have to do! I'm a little surprised, though, that GamesStop is still in business, as far as actual physical stores. I would have thought that by now it would have gone the way of Radio Shack, LOL! My grown boys still shop from there from time to time, but they always go through the online store.  :peace:

I've had so many things come up out of stock.  And it's not even for popular stuff.  It gets so frustrating.

I had the large percentage of my shopping done before Thanksgiving as I usually do. I will get a hint or an inspiration after Thanksgiving but do not anticipate the gift being delivered on time because of the busy season. This year is probably especially bad given the late Thanksgiving date and the general population's bend towards procrastination. I may stop by a store today because I need a break and saw a few toys that the kids may like but there is absolutely no need to do this. I may order a few things from Amazon Prime because I am certain that they will be on my door step within three days but all of these things will be above and beyond the bases that I have already covered. I had given thought to sending to people that I normally do not send to but this would just cause a feeling for them to need to reciprocate.
