Title: Nascar back with no fans
Post by: metsrock69 on May 01, 2020, 03:22:17 pm
Nascar has announced that they are bringing racing back but for now with no fans in the stands. I guess they had to do something. Wrestling shows have been doing this since this started

I saw that. Not sure how that will work for them. You need fans. Maybe they need to just close the sport altogether. You can't make money with no fans in the stands. I wonder if it will ever go back to normal.

My husband will love this at least he has something to watch and he loves cars.  Lucky the sponsors are willing to pay to keep this running.

It's entertainment for people that like racing and the fans will be at home.

Hmm how are they going to make money ? Those races usually bring a decent amount per race for people in the seats and those same people buying merch & sponsors. Some of those sponsers have to be hurting right now & cash flow should be drastically low even if they put on races. Its just going to be cars racing cars can't picture to many die hard fans just wanting to see that alone without hearing the roar of the crowd during them. Sure it will be entertainment but but for how long before they go banrkupt because this is a sport that relies on fans being around not being all at home watching races. Eventually they wont be able to afford to be able to do races and will go out of business just like any other business

Most sports rely on the fans being in the seats.  I remember going to a college football game and the game we went to there were over 110,000 people in the crowd.  You times that by the cost of each seat and then the food and drinks sold and like you said merchandise sold and you are talking more money than I can imagine.  I don't think the people in general are going to stand for this "shut down" crap much longer.

I know that several fans will be glad to have the races back even if they can only watch them on TV.  I'm sure there are some fans that will be very disappointed that they can't be there in person.

I was suppose to go to the Nascar race in Delaware this weekend but obviously it was postponed and we don't know when or if we will be going. The shame is that Nascar and the teams make the money from television so they want to race even if there are no fans. The tracks won't be making money because there is nobody paying tickets or buying concessions. Hopefully it won't last much longer and we can back to "normal".

I think it will be strange with no crowd cheering.

I live near Daytona Beach so seeing the NASCAR race site filled with cars and RV's is the norm.  I haven't been over there since all this started and have never gone to a race anyway.  But good for them if they are helping people be entertained without putting them at risk.
