Has anyone here taken a cruise?  I have not and am really sorry I didn't before all this happened as I am surely not going to try one now!

Over 90,000 cruise ship crew members stuck at sea amid coronavirus outbreak

Even as the last passengers disembarked the Coral Princess, the latest cruise ship in the U.S. with reported cases of COVID-19, the U.S. Coast Guard said over 100 cruise ships and 90,000 crew members are still stuck at sea in or near U.S. ports and waters.

No I haven't.  I feel the same.  I used to want to travel.  Even bought a travel package deal.  Never used it.  Doesn't look like am ever going to.  Even before this virus, I started paying attention to what happens on ships.  Like the plumbing going wrong and stuff like that.  That deterred my ambition quite a bit.

My husband and I went on a honeymoon cruise 25 years ago, and we had the time of our lives on it! We didn't book many outside excursions, but we enjoyed the ship an awful lot. Between the fancy dining, the pools, and the off-Broadway shows we saw every night, it surely was a memorable time for the both of us! It makes me sad now that the cruise industry is hurting due to disease, natural disasters, and infrastructure problems within the ships. I probably would be to nervous to book a cruise any time in the next few years.  :peace:

My sister-in-law has tried to get me to take a cruise with her (BEFORE all this happened no since) but there is something about being out in the middle of the ocean that creeps me out.  I rarely leave my house so that should tell you something.  I would never go on a cruise now even if the powers that be said it was absolutely safe.

My husband and I went one since our marriage and I was so sea-sick that I never had the desire to go one again.  Guess it is a blessing because it keeps me off ships

I love cruises and have been on many.  After this virus and seeing all the passengers stuck on the ship for days, it will be a very very long time before I go on another cruise.

When I was younger I went on a cruise with a bunch of friends and we had a fantastic time!  Now that I'm older I have no interest on going one again.

I went on a Mississippi river cruise back in 1993, with my Mom and little nephew.  It was pretty boring for me at the time bc I was in my mid-thirties and most the passengers were seniors.   No TV,phone or internet, just some lame azz shows............thank GOD for BEER!   :turkey:

I have taken nearly 14 and always enjoyed it but will not be going for sometime after this virus news.  Seven days is about my limit on a ship and some of these people have been on one for over 50 days because they can't dock.

I have never been on a cruise ship, nor do I plan to.  Almost everyone in my family has been on cruises.  Not me-never.

I went on my first and one and only cruise about 14 or 15 years ago with my sister.  It was 5 days long and left from San Diego, CA, going down the coast of Baja Mexico with 2 stops.  It was pretty good but not so wonderful I was dying to do it again.  It was with Carnival.  I have since done research and if you can afford it, some of the more upscale, smaller cruise ships sound wonderful!  But it's all about what you want and can afford.

I went on  one and it was about the best vacation I ever had and I'm afraid of water and can't even try to swim but I loved the cruise and I think the cruise line you go on makes a lot of difference some are a lot better than others

Yes I have.  I have been on three different cruises, all on Carnival and I loved every minute of it.  It seems like a lot of money, but when you take in consideration that it is your transportation, lodging, entertainment and food, it is not that much.

I've taken 3 cruises and I have another one booked for April 2021.  I really hope this situation clears up by then.  I would be really sad if I didn't get to take my cruise.

I prefer to use ferries for long-distance trips
because I can take my car or RV with me.
No big crowds and avoid the hassles of the
hotel industry.

I have never taken a cruise and I don't think I would like to unless it's on a yacht.  8)

Nothing is absolutely safe.  Back before all this cov stuff a friend went on a cruise.  A few days in he got sick and was sick even after he came back home.  Seems like there is always some kind of sickness on all these cruises.  Not sure how it supposedly runs like wild fire through the whole ship.  Unless the ship is what exposes the people to it.  smh  If you think back there have been several times it has made the news where a ton of people on a cruise ship all got sick of the same mysterious illness.

I've never been on a cruise and was never really interested in it anyway, even before the pandemic. Surely I can locate every one of the same activities on land where there's no risk of seasickness or drowning, lol.

I've always loved the beach, not so much sitting in the middle of an ocean.   :turkey:

I took a cruise 10 years ago and I would like to try it again. Once all of this is contained we should be able to do it again. Hopefully  :)

Update:

Some were allowed to disembark in Barbados.  See this page for full story and information:

While the passengers have headed home, the journey drags on for tens of thousands of crew members who are stranded at sea aboard their vessels, with no end in sight.

Many are no longer being paid because their contracts ended, some have no Internet access, tensions are flaring and some have even filed suit against their employers.
“We are prisoners. I need help. We need help, ” said Caio Saldanha, a Brazilian DJ who works on the Celebrity Infinity, which is in limbo somewhere between Florida in the United States, and the Bahamas.
“We need to fight to go home, ” the 31-year-old musician said.
Saldanha shares a cabin with his 29-year-old girlfriend Jessica Furlan, who hosted on-board activities for passengers

As several cruise ships remain stranded at sea with hundreds of crew members still on board, Barbados has remained a haven for the vessels despite concerns about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The line of Royal Caribbean employees extended throughout the airport, with people sitting on benches, their luggage and even the floor as they waited to board their rescue flight arranged by British Airways and local authorities.

Unfortunately, I have never been on a cruise ship. And thanks to COVID-19, I am extremely reluctant to go on one in the near future. :(

I've alway felt trapped in Cruise trips so I never ever go on trips not even if it's given to me as a gift. I'd refund the ticket.
