Title: Gardening still anyone?
Post by: tjshorty on October 09, 2020, 08:31:25 pm
Last week they called for frost and freeze.  So I drug all the potted plants inside.  It has been summer type temps since.  I can't win.  My tomatoes still are taking forever to turn red.  With this nice heat I even have some new ones coming.  They won't make it before winter.  I have been needing rain for about a month now.  Does any one know when a watermelon is ripe.  I will try to give the a few more weeks.  At least one good week left that I know of.  Well how is you gardening coming?

We brought all our summer things in or threw out.  Furniture went into garage and hanging plants and potted plants we threw away (most were either dead or dying).  Our days are warm but our nights dip into the low 30’s.

It is getting chilly in MA but temperature is still moderate. My herbs are still growing in my garden. For the rest of the yard, I have shut down the water sprinkler system and is cleaning up the yard. This season is over for me now.

Mine is still going strong! It's hot here. Just now starting to get any highs below 100. My pumpkin patch is living its best life and my peppers are flowering.

Your gardening activities are exactly why I am not into it.  If I knew more about gardening I might like it, but didn't grow up with it and have never tried :-[ it.

I didn't grow up with a garden.  I am very thankful for the internet for the access to the information.  Also my neighbor, who is probably my best source of weather and other information.  If you really want to know, just ask.  Someone knows something.  And are happy to share.

We are still harvesting patio tomatoes, collard greens, turnip greens, peppers, squash, and green beans here in middle Tennessee.  We have just a small garden for fun, but have been eating at least something from it almost every night since February.  I have planted a fall crop of mustard greens, Swiss Chard, Pak Choi, collards, kale, turnip greens and lettuce. I planted most from seed, but also transplanted a few plants that I bought.  They are coming along nicely.  I love gardening!

I'm cleaning in the garden, and digging up and dividing the Irises...Ugh!  I still have carrots in the garden and tomatoes and peppers in the garage, waiting for me to do something with them.

My husband just planted collard greens, so he is still gardening.  Hope to have some by Thanksgiving.

If winter wasn't coming around the corner I would be gardening, but I plan on going to my dads cottage and helping him with his stuff. He would definitely love it from heaven.  Seeing that his daughter is helping him all over again

I've pretty much shut it down for the winter after feeding my lawn.

The only thing I still have in my garden are the collard greens that I just planted.  I also planted some sweet potatoes and I hope they grow.

I was looking at my plants such as hosta's have turned yellow/gold. It's that time to cut them down so that they can come back fuller than the previous year.

I still have some rosemary left in the garden but everything else is turning brown so it's time to get ready for next year.

Our garden is all gone for the year.
Some of it grew the right way and the other half needed to be planted sooner.
