im having trouble sleeping at night and its beginning to be a problem for me, i try to take sleeping pils but i dont want to rel on them.. ::)

I have this problem also. I don't take any medications for this, but I am considering. I often find myself sitting awake at night, only to fall asleep at three or four in the morning. I have to get up at seven to get the kids ready for school by then the youngest two are awake so I have to stay up for the rest of the day to tend to them. I often find myself forgeting tasks that I have started. I want to find other alternatives to medication for this problem because I don't want to get hooked.

yeap i think so. I try to get at leat 7hours in.

I absolutely get the rest my body requires. I sleep 7-8 hours at night and if necessary take a short nap in the afternoon.
-
Sleep? What is that? Oh yeah, I vaguely remember getting plenty of that at one time. I am a night owl, and actually have to tell myself to get to bed. Usually live off of 5 hours or less. NOT GOOD! However, when I have particular trouble, it is usually because of stress. next would be to much caffeine, nicotine, or internet. LOL

have you tried melatonin?

Ever since I was a baby I have had trouble with sleep. First I couldn't sleep but 2-3 hours a day. Then I was sleeping 24 hours every 2 or 3 days or so. Now I go through cycles of 12 hours up and 12 asleep. I find I sleep better during the day than I do at night. This is great for me but makes it hard to lead a "normal" life.

Working at 1 to 930 and having school all morning kind of kills my sleeping routine haha.
-
I never sleep that much at night anymore, because I do all of my ptc's all night long, and if the child takes a late nap-(Like freakin' tonight!) She won't go to bed for hours, so I have to entertain her , and I get some work done!

SLEEP??
Duh......... what's that? :dontknow:
-
Hardly much at all except that I can sleep in on Mondays. Only 6 hrs the most. :'( I rarely have trouble sleeping at night so I don’t need to rely on sleeping pills.
-
my wife takes pills for her sleep and she dont reli on them but they help her alot!!!
-
Nope. Not at all.
-
Many people have problems sleeping, and pills are not the solution. Just rest yourself, see a doctor.

Living in a dorm, definitely deters me from getting a great night's sleep
-
No, I do not. But I know I should get eight of hours of sleep because I am trying to lose weight and all the books and internet I have read states you need eight hours of sleep to help you lose weight, but I get around five to six hours of sleep.
-
I've been working nights for about 10 years now so I've come to treat sleep as a hobby, but I hear good things about it.
-
I definitely need to get more sleep. I've discovered that my body wants to rest and sleep in the afternoons, so Im beginning to comply ;D
-
Most nights I get enough sleep. Usually between 7 and 8 hours. When I had a job I rarely did, I got closer to 5 hours a night.
-
I'm a college student and u knw what that means, papers, papers, papers, most nights i'm lucky if i get 6 hours of sleep.
-
No, I do not get enough of sleep. The more I sleep the less energy I have. I will not take medicine to help me sleep, because I do not want to be dependent on the medicine. What can I do?
-
I get around 5 hours most nights. I get up a lot during the night then up for work at 3:00. I try to make up a little on my off days.
-
No I dont get enough sleep I went to bed like 4am in the morning and woke up at around 11am this morning so I went and was so tired and took a good old nap.
-
Yeah, people. Focus on sleeping better. Try going to bed before 12 and waking up between 7 and 8. You'll feel a ton better. Though I am not a good spokesperson for this due to it being 1 AM at the moment, I have done this in the past and you DO end up having a lot of energy and u feel better.

I try for 5 to 6 hours....some days I'll get lucky and my son will sleep in and I'll sneak in 7 or more but then I end up being up later that night because I can't sleep. Vicious cycle that doesn't get reset until I only get about 3 hours of sleep one night. :( But I have soooooo much to do that part of the reason that I can't sleep is that I'm busy....and if I'm laying in bed staring at the ceiling then I feel guilty that I could have been doing something instead of just laying.
*sigh* Some day I hope to have a good relationship with sleep again.

it depends on the level of my blood sugar some days i sleep like 5 hours
