Title: sleep
Post by: imwicked on May 11, 2012, 03:48:06 am
I really have problems falling to sleep. This happens about twice a week. I go to bed thinking I'm so tired but when my head hits the pillow my mind just won't quiet down. Don't trust sleeping pills since I have to get up with my granddaughter every morning and I don't want to get up with a fuzzy mind. Any help?

Having a night time ritual, like locking the doors, having some tea, and reading a book with soft lighting, and soft music.
Keeping a journal by your bed to write down worries, or things you forgot to do, or nightmares help to put them "away" so your mind can rest at ease.
Stop watching tv, and using the comp about an hour before you actually get into bed-the lights are stimulating, as well as the content-SOMETIMES!

I hate when that happens when I can't sleep because my mind won't SHUT UP!!! But I usually take a hot bath, read, or drink a warm cup of milk sometimes it works. I used to be up for days at a time that sucked.

I usually have the same problem.  The mind just doesn't stop.  I don't like to take sleeping medicine either, so i checked into herbal remedies.  Check with your local Natural store and see if they could help you.  It is worth a try.

I keep the TV out of my room and try to use the bed for nothing but sex and sleep.
Also, if I can't sleep, I like to read (preferably a calm book...nothing too interesting, but nothing that's going to bore me to tears either)

Been there, done that.  I use camomile tea or tablets to relax naturally.  If my mind won't quit, any time of day, I use the Bach Flower white chestnut.  No side effects at all.   :peace:

Try meditation. I try to meditate on the winning lottery numbers before I fall asleep. I have won a few small games this way. Concentrate on looking out of your third eye. The third eye is located in the center of your forehead. Look thew your third eye, pretty soon you will start seeing pictures like dream images. This is very relaxing.

Thank you all for the good advice. I will try them and see if one of them will work for me.

I suffer from this problem too, as I am sure a great number of the Fusion Cash members do.  Try turning off all technology the hour before you want to go to sleep.  I know that staring at bright screens keeps people up.  Perhaps try drinking a calming tea or warm milk to make you drowsy and really start to nod off before you even get into your bed.

I too have nights where I have trouble falling to sleep.  I have never taken any pills for such a thing.  I just watch tv until those eyes decide to shut for a while.  It works for me anyway.

i've always heard that lavender helps you relax
and is great to have on the nightstand. i would suggest
getting a small tea light oil burner, which you can find
at the dollar store, and some good quality lavender oil.
light it before you go to bed and drift off  :)

or a candle warmer with a lavender candle.

Seconding the "night time ritual."  I try to be in bed an hour before I actually turn the lights off to sleep- I'll read and just try to wind down.  It works, most of the time.

Try Melatonin.... Its natural, so it's non-habit forming too. It will help you FALL asleep but it doesn't help KEEP you asleep!

I am going to agree with Melatonin.  Maybe, if you see it recommended enough, you will try it.  I can't take Benadryl or anything because it gives me nightmares and I am tired for half the next day.  Melatonin naturally occurs in your brain.  The best way I can describe it is instead of making your body tired, it makes your brain stop thinking so much.  Many times, my body was exhausted but my brain wouldn't turn off.  Melatonin is the only thing that ever helped and there are no after effects the next day.  And I didn't try it until someone bought it for me because I didn't think it would help.  Well, it does!  Try it.  Seriously.
