Well if you like sweet potato fries you may like how we make ours.  Just like tator's peel and slice em up to the size you like.  I use a 9 x 13 stone with a lip.  Pour a little olive oil onto your stone.  Layer your sweet potato's on the stone. I use the honey bear and just squirt honey all over.  Than I sprinkle cinnamon on top of that.  Bake for about and hour.  Sprinkle some powdered sugar over them if you like.  They are sweet enough as is for me but the powdered sugar is good too.  I've never put ginger on my homemade fries before.  Did you use fresh ginger root or ginger spice?

I always make my own fries in the oven.  I make a lot and freeze them so I will always have some.  Not sure how healthy putting cheese on them.

I do this with sweet potatoes :)

The only comment I can offer is the choice of oil used in the baking process. Olive oil is the healthiest choice, canola is good but less so than the olive oil. Using lard or vegetable oils really puts you back in the frying pan mode to a great degree.

Another thought, olive oil in aerosol form is available and is great for the baking method.

that's sounds yummy.  my favorite is melted cheese pour over fries and sometimes I eat it with just mayonnaise and catsup.

Home made is always the best!!!!  Maybe you would even like making your own "potato chips" - just slice the potatoes really, really thin and fry quickly, drain, salt and yum!!!!!!!!!!!!

I make mine by using skin on potatoes cut into wedges. I spray them with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt and pepper. I bake them for about 20 minutes in a 400 degree oven.

YUMMM Baked or fried.... I LUV HOMEFRIES! I always put Onions (red , vidalia or scallions) Black and white Pepper, A lil bit of Red and Yellow Peppers, Parsely, Mrs Dash Tomato Basil Garlic seasoning. If I'm baking them I would toss potatoes onions and peppers in melted butter before adding dry ingredients.

If you can cook them in the oven it is much healthier, but most folks like deep home fried...

the trick to getting your fries to be like Mc'D's is to blanch them first!  This will make them taste awesome!  Freeze-n-fry!   Enjoy!   :fish:

I love homemade French fries but they are so much work. Easier to pop a tray in the oven.

They sound great! The only problem is - it sounds like too much work! I really like French Fries - I also like Home Fries. I can't hardly find Home fries in a Restaurant anymore.!!

Just FYI from about.com. Blanch: All it means is to put the item in question in boiling water, lift it out after the prescribed time, and cool it off quickly.

I had to look this up since I couldn't remember.

It sounds delightful.  My late grandmother baked sweet potatoes in the oven in their skin.  I loved to put butter on it and eat it.  It was so yummy.  When I want French fries, I fry them and season them with salt, pepper and hot sauce.  I use white potatoes.  I have been making my own French fries since I was 9.  It was either learn to cook or eat what my grandmother cooked, and sometimes it didn't look appetizing.  So I have experience in the kitchen.

My daughter likes for me to make home made fries.  I cook them in the deep fryer for her, but I also like to put in the oven with a little olive oil and salt.
