Title: Why I Post Bible-Discussions---What 'the Word of God' Truly Is
Post by: mythociate on December 31, 2013, 11:38:00 pm
In short, the Word of God is what we hear today ... often 'when reading the Holy Bible (http://www.biblegateway.com),' but also (increasing to more often) 'when we hear how it applies to the world around us.'

I think that--until you apply the Bible to your day-to-day action--the Bible remains as much 'the Word of God' as Greek- & Roman- & Nordic-mythologies are.

THAT (along with the fact that most 'Scripture' was 'oral tradition' until the Roman Catholic "Councils" published) is the reason that the Bible tells us to "not forsake the gathering of ourselves together"---in order that we can make heard 'what we ourselves THINK might be the Word of God' and either confirm that it IS the Word of God or -that it is just another 'demon' trying to manifest itself.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

That hasn't changed.

So I take it you don't believe in sola scriptura?Or just as interpreted by you?

No, the Sola (http://www.fusioncash.net/forum.php?topic=61655.msg838404#msg838404) I believe is sola gratis (by grace alone ... through faith, if you can have it; but His grace abounds)

Scripture IS divinely inspired etc., but it only has the power of God if 'we' (His children) so ascribe it!

I'm 'sure' I could use my Bible to "let Scripture prove Scripture" (not sure if that's in the Bible anywhere, but I've heard plenty of God's children 'say' it), but I find that the Light I thus discover goes out quickly if I light it 'under a bushel-basket.' It seems better to discover the Light up where it will be if it is to shine for all to see!

:) The Word of God is alive and active, exposing the truth. Other writings can not make this claim.  :)

That's right. NO writings can make that claim, not even the Bible :angel11:

Well, it worked for me.

Don't argue with me. I didn't write the Bible.

I am outta here, end of discussion. When you earnestly want the Truth, I suggest you read the Bible and keep your harsh expressions to yourself.

I wish you well.  :)

::) Touch-y! I'm sorry you mistake 'what you see with your blinders on' for "Truth." I see that 'truth' and all the "reality" surrounding it as well ... I used to be like you--holding to that truth & ignoring everything around it--and it truly is a blissful ignorance, but it doesn't change the reality around it. And it's good that you can hold to that 'truth' & ignore the reality around you until it goes away (leaving you & that truth & others who hold to it). But ... was John 3:16 "For God so loved only the good, nice, obedient, righteous part of the world"? Not in any Bible I've ever seen.
