Title: Did you lose power?
Post by: Nancy5 on February 07, 2014, 08:15:50 pm
We were hit with 9 inches of snow on Monday and about 1 inch of ice on Wednesday.  We had major power losses (in PA), and thousand of people are still without electricity.  Thankfully we were ok, but during Sandy we lost power for 5 days!

Thanks everyone.  Can you believe they are predicting another 3 inches tonight and a "dusting" on Sunday.  Another possible storm next Wednesday.  Did we move PA to Alaska and no one told us! LOL Come on spring!

I have awakened to weather here in West Point, MS that is 39 degrees.  I am so ready for spring.  I think the groundhogs mixed up the weather, in my opinion.  Puxtatawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter (he saw his shadow) and the groundhog in Atlanta predicted an early spring (he did not see his shadow).  Although Puxtatawney Phil's accuracy is sketchy at best, I am not a fan of all this cold weather, and the weatherman says that we are expecting a dusting of snow flurries.  Ahh!! ??? ??? ???   :rainbow:

Thus far, we have not had any ice.  We did have snow and has snowed some today too.  I think we might have dodged a bullet because at one time we were suppose to get between 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch of ice.

Thank God I didn't lose power during any of these storms.  I live in DE and maybe we are secluded from many of the storms.  It did snow about 4 inches here overnight.  It's been raining now most of the day.  We'll see what tonight brings.  So done with all this stuff.  5 more weeks?  Way too many! ::)

We had more snow this morning which turned to pouring rain this afternoon now gusty winds possible flooding and loss of power before it  turns back into snow early tomorrow morning.
I am so ready for Spring!!!

No thank goodness.  The lights flickered a few times.  Some people in my state still don't have power from the last storm.

Perhaps in the future, a portable charger would be useful for the next storms?

I hope nothing worse happens.

I can feel for anyone that has lost their power. We've gotten all the snow , some of the ice but thankfully have kept our power. But we're also lucky to have a wood stove so when we do loose power at least we have heat.

Well we got hit with another storm, yesterday we got 26 inches on top of all the snow we already have.  It looks like Alaska not PA.  They want another 3 inches tonight, don't know where to go with the snow.  At least we did not lose any power.

We didn't lose power on our side of town but the lights did some flickering and I was afraid we would lose it.  One of our daughters across town did lose power but they got the transformer replaced quickly so it wasn't out that long.  We have lost power for over a week in years past but thankfully not this year.
