Title: your thoughts on what happened to Tony Stewart

My thought is, it was a racing accident, and mr Ward should have stayed in his car

Tony Stewart has a history of violence and "going after other drivers". It seems like it was just an accident, but that's for the investigators to figure out.

i think that that kid who was killed was totally out of line and down right stupid for getting out of his car and thinking that he was going to be any match for a vehicle.  there should have been no investigation into tony stewart.

tragic case, don't think it was intentional, glad NASCAR changed the rules....not sure why he felt it necessary to get out of car and approach Stewart

Not sure on where to begin. It is difficult to place some, if not most, of the blame on the victim, Kevin Ward, considering that he is no longer alive to explain his actions. As difficult as it is, however, I would have remained in the vehicle (regardless of what racing policy was in place at the time of the incident). Racing, NASCAR-sanctioned or not, is an extremely dangerous sport with an equally dangerous history of accidents and deaths. Why on God's green earth would some one get out of a vehicle with vehicles whizzing by at such excessive speeds is beyond me. There is a reason why the yellow caution tape was brought out: to alert oncoming racers of an accident.

So the question is, who is at fault: Ward for getting out of his vehicle or Stewart for failing to see/heed the yellow caution tape on the second lap. I do not think there is any question that Ward deserves some of the blame. Stewart? Still debating this...

Tony has quite a temper and it has gotten him in trouble in the past. Only he will ever know for certain what happened but regardless he will have to live with killing someone for the rest of his life. That's quite a cross to bear.
