We are closed Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day. I always save enough vacation days so I can have off from December 23rd until January 2nd.
-
I'm retired now,but when I was working I was really lucky about having to work on Christmas.Never on any job I ever had did I have to work on December 25.
-
Yes I actually want to work on xmas because it's more money. I don't care abut not having off xmas because I don't celebrate anyway. Thanksgiving is the only holiday I care about having off.
-
I well be online working sometime that day. From home.
-
I don't have to work Christmas day. I work at walmart and it is closed that day. Thank goodness. :)

This year I don't have to work on Christmas day.

We are closed Christmas Day. We were told no vacation days would be approved during the holidays. But "special people" always get them off anyway.

Obviously you don't care about CHRISTmas since you use a x before mas.

It won't be long til they are open all day on Christmas day. They actually do have people who have to work Christmas night. Gotta get ready for the big sales on the 26th.

I am retired now, so don't have to work on Christmas Day or any other day for that matter. But even when I was working, I always had Christmas off. I don't believe I have ever worked at a job that required working on Christmas Day.
-
Our store is closed on Christmas. I'm not sure what the store hours are on Christmas Eve. I've requested the day after off...so we'll see if they honor it.
-
I own my own business. We close early Christmas Eve and are closed on Christmas Day.
-
My computer is acting up so have to do it this way.

I am not "special", where I work anyone can take off anytime if they have vacation left. I have been there over 30 years and get 5 weeks vacation. Normally between Christmas and New Years the entire company only has a small skelton staff.
-
I volunteered to work: I do tech support and I can use the extra money.
-
No thank goodness I am retired so I don't have to work any holidays. When I worked for the school district always had time off at most holidays. Also at one of the call centers I worked at if I remember right they were always closed for Christmas day although I think I had to work Christmas Eve which I didn't like but oh well in the past. :present:
-
No. We're closed on Christmas Day. I will be working at home to feed 26 family members.
-
Nope, never have and never will! LOL ... plus I am not due to go back to work until March. But will probably be extended again since I despise everyone I work with and hope to never see there lying, hypocritical faces again! ahhhh, that felt good to say! Merry Christmas everyone! :)

I didn't say YOU were special. I said WHERE I WORK. I doubt we work together. And what I said is true. It's the same with callin in and coming in late. Certain people never get in trouble. But if I take a 15 minute break and am not back in 16 minutes they are paging me. smh
-
Countrygirl that always happens at work. I have the same thing where I work. We have one girl who I swear to God sleeps at her desk. We all know, so does the boss, but she lets it go. She actually snores at times. Can you think what would happen if someone else did that? They would be out so fast.....but she stays and stays.
-
Nancy, I don't get it. The same ones call in constantly, come in late, take 30 minutes on a 15 minute break...
If I am gone 16 minutes they are paging me. And the only times that has happened I was stopped by a customer walking from the break room back to the front. Not sitting in my car smoking (which we are not even allowed to smoke on company property) and yapping on a cell phone.
I know a lot of people say they will not work on Christmas Day. I am one of them. But a lot of people don't care. Our Walgreen's is open Christmas Day. I talked to a hateful woman who works there and she said it is volunteer. They get paid double time for working. But when you consider you make $7.25 an hour and you will only make $14.50 an hour for working that day to me it wouldn't be worth giving up the holiday. But I guess some people don't have family or don't like their family and just really does not care about being off that day. Even if I had no family I don't think I would want to work Christmas Day.
-
No, I do not work on Christmas day or Christmas Eve.
-
I am a stay at home mom and student so we are now on Christmas break for a month. But the career I am going for, most likely I will have to work some holidays, including Christmas. Hope you all have a safe Holiday!
-
No, that's one of the perks of being self-employed. Though I don't remember ever having to work on Christmas day. :snowflake: :santa:
-
Some of my family members has to some don't, as for me I do not have work this x-mas.

Thankfully I have been in the fortunate situation where I have never had to work on Christmas Day. I really wouldn't want to work on Christmas day and I would seriously think twice about any job which expected me to work on Christmas day. Having said that, there are many reputable jobs where people really dedicate themselves and they don't have a choice, ie nurses, ER doctors, police officers, ambulance drivers and the fire department. What would we do if they all demanded not to work on Christmas day?

I work in a hotel so I usually work every Christmas! I don't mind since most of the others have small children at home and I don't!

It's not the same thing. You know when go you into that field that you will work on the holidays. And most doctors do not work on Christmas. Nurses yes. And most of the police officers just get a car and go home and only go out if they get a call. Same with Ambulance drivers. At least that is how it is where I live. I think the people who get the most upset about having to work Christmas day is fast food workers and retail. There is absolutely NO reason for them to be open. I have seen where McDonald's will be open this Christmas Day. It won't be long until Walmart will be as well. The workers already have to go in that evening to get ready for the day after sale.
-
My husband does. He's a police officer....but he can hang out around the house in uniform and wait for any calls...so that is nice.
-
My law firm closes at noon on Christmas Eve and closed on Christmas. I wouldn't mind working for overtime/holiday pay.
-
Yes i have to but im just thankful to have a job

Can I ask where you work? Not specifics but like are you a cop, ambulance driver or something like that or do you work retail? It amazes me at the retail places that are going to be open. If you have not bought your gifts by Christmas Day then I say don't worry about it. And using the excuse of a last minute gift ... then you need to buy a few extra gift cards you can have on hand. Personally, I think if you aren't finished shopping by Christmas Eve you need to just forget it. lol

Yes I do have to work on Christmas Day.
We are a 24/7 group home for 4 individuals with health and physical and mental needs so we need to have staff there every day and every night no matter the day.
