So what are your throughts on her NYE "performance"?

I did not watch her performance on NY Eve but saw all the news broadcast about it. It is unfortunate that she did not get to perform. It was probably a huge let down for everyone. I did not attempt to watch the performance to see what it was all about after all the news broadcast either.

Never liked Mariah Carey. My girlfriend just told me what happened on New Years Eve.

I'm clueless. I don't know what happened to Mariah. I didn't see the performance. What happened?

Things happen --its not always going to be good --i think she should just move on --done and over with !

Did not watch her, I brought in the New Year at church but I saw a clip of her on the news and I am speechless.

Isn't anything ever the person's fault anymore? She's blaming Disney Productions for her dead mic but turns out she never did a pre-test of the equipment, so it's her own fault.

Someone messed up and Mariah could not hear the music so she couldn't time her singing correctly.
I think the "lip synching" is just that she had a back up track with the high notes, not the whole song. It's just there to provide insurance in case she couldn't reach the high notes.
All in all, this is another case of our media making a mountain out of a molehill...

Got to agree. All it does is put her name in front of the public. I really don't care too much about her. She seems rather taken with herself!

I read there was some sort of technological mishap that confused all the performers involved.

She's got a great voice.
I can see why performers lip sync/ sing on top of a track while performing for large audiences, and/or while dancing around, it just sounds better. On one hand it is funny it happened, on another it is an unfortunate situation for everyone. It is getting played way too much in the media, who cares... move on.

She messed up BADLY!!! I couldn't stop laughing at how she still kept going after if was so clear on what she was doing.

I heard about it - and it's unfortunate.
Back in the day, performers rarely sang live (unless it was a concert) - it was all recorded.
If you look at performances of performers in the 80's and before, you will see that nearly most lip synched to their recorded music.
And Mariah's mishap is probably one of the reasons why a lot of performers did it that way back then.

I think it was... silly.... a little embarrassing for her, towards her fans for sure.... I believe they must have felt betrayed :D
But hey... it's always her...
It anyway gave a lot to talk about.... or else no one would have ever said anything about her NYE performance...
She's gonna prepare good for her next performance... that's for sure! :D

What an absolute train wreck that was!
Edit: LOL - it didn't even occur to me right away when I wrote that. I was actually ON the train on New Year's Eve when it happened. I saw a news alert come across my phone about Mariah Carey's botched performance and it wasn't until a day or two later that I was able to get video of it. Ultimately I am glad she was in the train wreck and not me!

I loved Mariah Carey when she was younger. Now, she tries too hard to be sexy and she flaunts the fact that she's a Diva. I still think she has an incredible voice; but my opinion of her as a person, has gone downhill.

I didn't see the incident in question, but I know lipsyncing can sink a career. Ashley Simpson (Anybody remember her? Jessica's little sis that had a career for a hot minute?) She was caught lipsyncing on SNL back in the day and her career never seemed to recover.

To me I honestly don't care! Mariah Carey have a great voice one bad performance shouldn't ruin her entire career. We all make mistakes sometimes, why should we keep bringing up her mistakes? I think the performance was made to be a disaster for her publicity. Look since this bad performance Mariah Carey has been all over the news and I'm tired of hearing about it. The real problem is that we treat celebrities like Gods :notworthy:, like they can't never make mistakes. When something like this happen to show they are human we get all upset about it. Lets move on! :rainbow:

I did not see the show live but did see quite a bit of the recorded portions. It didn't look much like a performance at all. That's probably why you have the word in quotes.
I like her voice, I have a couple of her cd's but I'm really not much for live concerts. There seems to be so many more 'mishaps' these days with performers; not just Mariah.

I'm guessing this is regarding her New Years Eve outing, LOL Was not a good one. When your going to do a show even if it is only 5 minutes,,, be there for sound check,,,, and make sure your "mic" is working !!!!!!
Even your gonna lip sync ( which I hate) with a passion. She just made it worse by letting everyone know there was a problem, and then just strutting around made it worse.

Honestly, I think people are just trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Yes, she made a mistake on stage and that is not her best but that does not mean that deserve all of that backlash. Great stars ranging from musicians to TV presenter and all that have made a mistake. I mean mistake is part of why we are human. Just try to learn from the mistake and move on.

I'm not a fan of Mariah Carey. But I like some of her earlier music. Not the stuff she's done that is popular today.
