Title: The $999 Phone
Post by: griffin06 on September 22, 2017, 06:00:23 pm
So, I'm sure many of you recently have heard about Apple's new fancy iPhone X (10), worth $999. What are your thoughts on this? Anyone considering to buy it?  :o

No, not interested in any phone that costs $1000. I can buy a lot of things that are more useful for all that money.

It's hard to believe that people would pay $1,000 for something that they are only going to use for a year or two. I won't be buying something that overpriced.

I have a Blu Android phone that works plenty fine for me. It's got all the bells and whistles I need, and it only cost me $60! It has ads that pop up when you first turn it on, but they're easy to swipe off and go about your business. I don't think I'd pay $1000 for a phone even if I had money to burn (I'd probably burn it on something else)!  8)

I'd never pay that much for a phone.  I've never owned an iphone and probably never will (loyal android user).  I paid close to $80 for mine a few years ago and it's just fine.  I guess if you have the money and can afford it fine.  I can think of a lot more practical uses for $1000.

I would not spend that on a phone. There are better uses of that kind of money.

Omg, $999? That's crazy! I think it's more worth it to buy a laptop instead of a little phone for that price!

What is so special about that one? It is funny how these company keeps making new phones which cost an arm and a leg. I remembered the Razor blades. It was mach then mach 1 and so forth. But they are almost the same. Cuts the same to me though.

I think the new IPhone is cool, but to me I wouldn't pay that kind of price for a phone that could break or not work. I could buy more stuff with that kind of money.

I would never pay that much for a phone that could be stolen or lost so very easily. I'm hoping to upgrade my iPhone from a 5 to a 6 now though since I should be able to get a good deal on that.

999 is too much money for a phone. Mine cost 290 and I'm still paying for it a year later! Who could afford that sort of thing?

I have heard of the fancy  new luxury phone but will not be purchasing one. I have been an iphone user for about six years for a variety of reasons: the phone is well put together and durable (my last one lasted five years before my son destroyed it); they do not appear to be a target for hackers; software applications used to be more abundant; and I have been accumulating shares in Apple (I always buy shares in a product that I believe in) so having the product that makes me money on the market makes sense to me. I replaced my last phone with another iphone that only cost two hundred dollars because it was last year's model. I feel somewhat certain that apple will release a lower cost alternative at or slightly after the luxury phone roll out.

I doubt this is true.  I saw the stated prices for other iPhones and most people get them for a lot less.  To answer the question NO I will not ever pay $1000 for a phone.  But it is actually way more than a phone.  It is a computer in your pocket so it is probably worth it.  But I would make sure to invest in a high quality protective case because most people bounce them off a wall by the 2nd day they are carrying them.

I do love iphones. However, I have a 6s plus which works great and I plan to keep using it. I keep my iphones at least 3 or 4 years then upgrade. By then the price will be much lower.

I am not sure how it could be lost very easily.  Maybe I am just more responsible and take care of my things.

Hmmm Even when I purchased the last years model I gave way more than $200 for the phone.

It would definitely be stupid for me to spend that much on a "smart" phone.

Need a new phone, but won't even look at that level of spending.

Think I'd go back to my old flip-phone before I'd pay that much for a phone!  I do love my IPhone and felt I was paying too much for it but my other one had crashed.  Think it cost About $600 or little more but $1,000 is way too much.

In its defense, it IS way more things than just a phone, it's really a whole computer. 1k is still more than I've paid for a decent desktop though so I would never pay that. I also claimed years ago that I'd never pay hundreds of dollars for a phone and yet I just did (and that was after it got old and the price came down.) I think this will probably be the phone whose price will not come down low enough even after it's obsolete and I'll have to look at other options. hope my current lasts a good while.

Would not buy this phone even if I was filty rich. It's going too far. There's sense and non-sense; this I believe is the latter. There are more important inventions one can come up with.

I can't believe the phone is a $1000.  That's ridiculous.  Especially when it's not really that different from any model that's already currently available.  Ok they may have 'upgrade' a few things to take sharper video and clearer picture but it's basically all the same like the Ipone 8.  So no.  I've got a 6plus and it's great.  I'm not trading it even if the Ipone X was free.

I have the IPhone 5.  That is the first smart phone I have ever owned and I have had it for about three and a half years.  Clearly I don't get all gaga over the newest phone.  And I don't care what it does $1000 is crazy.  But if you have more money than you know what to do with, then power to you.

The iPhone X is supposed to be a great phone, much better than the iPhone 8. I am going to wait until it has been on the market for a while before I even consider buying the X so that all the bugs get worked out. Who wants to spend $999 on a phone only to find the battery catches fire or something like that!

My thoughts are that any phone which costs that kind of money better be able to independently pay all my bills, do some housework, drive the car when I need it, answer any question I pose, and pull out a gun and kill an attacker!

$1000 for a phone .. No way am I gonna waste my money on a device that I use basically for calls and texts.

I think Apple is getting way over priced.  I have never had an I phone and with their prices it doesn't look like I ever will.

Yes, I intend to buy it but not until a long time from now when the price has gone way down. My IPhone 5c is still in good shape - I've had no problems with it whatsoever for 3 years so I plan to hold on to that one until it dies, hopefully not until another year or two, then look at the IPhone X at that time.

Some of you have good sense to turn down this phone. But, there are so many people out fixated on outdoing someone that they would likely buy it. And I image that whoever does buy it, will wind up dead, maybe this is Snow White's poisoned apple, over all the other Apple phones, this one ought to be a sure fire hit 1st and foremost.

If I had a $999 I certainly wouldn't be buying a phone.

I have about $1000 of work on my car or more.

That money could be used as a deposit for a new place.

I could give my kids a really good chirstmas

I could pay for 6 months of car insurance.

I could go on a vacation with my family and make tons of memories.

AND the list could go on and on....... but I have so many things that I could use that money for

There are some people who can afford it will get it just to say I have a $999 phone, but who in their right mind will put out that time of money for a phone, it's got to have extra features other than an IPhone, if it can't tell you the future or what is happening at that moment, it's not worth paying almost a $1,000 for.
