Title: A Dog Birthday Party
Post by: sherryinutah on October 01, 2017, 01:05:37 am
On Friday night I went to a dog birthday party.  She was 1 year old.  That was a first, for me.

My neighbor lady treats her little Shih tzu like she's her baby so I guess it's fairly easy to understand.  We even sang "Happy Birthday" to the dog after her owner lit the candle on her birthday cake.

I guess it was better than spending Friday night in front of my computer.

Have you ever been to a dog birthday party?

what a cute dog!
No I have never been to a dog birthday party. I know dogs are considered part of the family so,i guess I shouldn't be surprised.I would have thought the request for the party may have come from the child not the owner.
did you have a good time? :rainbow: :pumpkin: :peace:

No, I have never been to a dog birthday party before, but just about any excuse for a party is OK with me, especially if there is fun stuff to eat available!

We have had birthday parties for dogs "in the family" but never invited anyone but immediate family - like the ones in the household. haha.  And def did not sing Happy Birthday.  I do think some people go way over board with treating an animal like it is human. But hey you got free cake.

I have never had parties on behalf of any of my pets before.  Although I have heard of this.  In fact I've had customers place custom orders for cakes for there pet parties.  I don't know if the cakes I'm doing for them are for the dogs or the humans...I just do what I'm asked.  The weirdest one was a picture of a Momma nursing her litter. My boss came in and saw what I was working and says, "So they are eating there puppies?"  Again I say, "I just do what I'm asked."

lol I done this once.  It was a regular cake I got at the grocery store. I had them write Happy Birthday and the dog's name. :D

I sure do give parties for my pets.  Although all my pets are rescues, I'm not sure of their real Birthday, so what we do is take their 'adopt' day as their birthday and the vet can give an educated age on the pet, so that's how we can kind of guess the age.  Not the real birthday bug that's ok with us.

I thought that was very thoughtful of that pet owner to host a party for her dog. I know that some people do not view pets on the same level as they do people. But for some individuals, pets may be all that they have for companionship.

We used to have a birthday party for our beloved Bichon, Tommy, before he passed away.  He was so much a part of the family that it seemed only natural that we celebrate his birthday!!

My dogs & cats have always had birthday parties, they LOVE them.  They also are included in a big way in Christmas and all the other holidays.  They're family, so they're included.  They've added the "special" to sooo many cherished Birthday & Holiday memories.

I have never been to a dog birthday party but it sounds kind of cool.  I always at least acknowledge my dog and my two cats birthdays with some kind of treat.

I think if I planned a party my hubby would think I have really lost my mind .. LOL

My brother and sis-in-law give their dog one of those dog ice cream bars every year on her birthday.  And every year she gets diarrhea from it.

The first time I've ever heard of a doggie birthday party.  Nice and it seems to bring people together.

I had a birthday party for my dog one year.  I forgot how old she turned.  I got her a huge bone a hat and some doggie ice cream.  It was just me and my father to celebrate.  I actually tasted her ice cream it tasted like Bit O Honey candy.

People do treat their dogs like they are their children, even getting married, now that's carrying it a bit far.

People say pets are part of the family so I guess a party would be in order along with a good meal.

My girlfriend has a birthday party for her dog. I forget what they do but it is pretty much like a regular birthday party for a person.

Never have been to a dog birthday party. I will never host one, but I may get my future dog a new toy on its birthday every year. But I think the hype on dog birthday parties is too much.

How cute. I always celebrate my animals birthdays. They don't get a party, but they get extra spoils on the day.
