Title: Word game
Post by: linderlizzie on April 09, 2018, 08:41:35 am
So I looked up isomorphism in order to understand the comic page today. Here is the online definition:

"Isomorphism is a very general concept that appears in several areas of mathematics. The word derives from the Greek iso, meaning "equal," and morphosis, meaning "to form" or "to shape." Formally, an isomorphism is bijective morphism. Informally, an isomorphism is a map that preserves sets and relations among elements."

Whew! ??? I still don't get the joke unless he means he must be equal to God or something like that. Can anyone enlighten me? I don't think I can use this in a sentence intelligibly.

And I hate not getting a joke. Because if you have to look up stuff or ask, it loses its humor altogether. Right?

I actually stopped reading the daily comic a few months ago. There were occasionally a few good ones, but it seemed like more often they were either confusing (like the OP says), ho-hum not really all that funny or clever, or outright offensive.
I only used it as an avenue toward achieving the daily PTC, so I now just skip over it and click on one of the other links.  I find the daily weather or local gas prices to be more worthy of my click!
