so they cancelled Roseanne because of racist tweets. liked the show now all those people are out of work. she is a comedian so I think she stepped over the line without thinking. liked the original show better.

I liked the show. That being said, it's a shame but the tweet was pretty vicious. Valerie Jarrett isn't black.She's born in Iran. Her and Roseanne have a terrible history.
The thing the gripes me the most is ABC was so quick to cancel her show yet other shows are left on the air to trash people on the right (conservatives or Republicans), saying they need to "investigate." Look at Jimmy Kimmel and SNL. Do they get canceled? Nope and their shows can be vicious.
It IS a double standard. I see it more and more every day. Won't be watching ABC anymore. I only watched her show so they've lost out again. (I don't watch late night idiots, DWTS, The Bachelor or Bachelorette, or whatever other shows. They are not worth the time They used to have great shows but not anymore. Bye once again, ABC! .

Might have to sign up again and be his buddy...had a facebook page, went to sign in and they said had to change my password.
When I did, sent me to a completely new page...couldn't get on my old one....emailed them and they never got back to...my old page is out there somewhere... ??? ::) :(

The pairing of the Muslim Brotherhood with the Planet of the Apes is pretty obvious racism.

Didn’t like the show when it originally aired so haven’t watched the return. Guess I won’t have the chance now.

I don't care for Roseanne much but I do think it is a bit much to cancel her show. I mean isn't there another way to make her fix the problem? I feel bad for the staff.... I wish people would think before they talk, tweet, whatever. I am sure Roseanne feels bad, and it was a very hard lesson learned, but had she thought before tweeting, she would not be in this situation.

Roseannes tweet was very bad. At the same time I think what Channing Dungey (ABC ) did was pretty bad too....I think he cancelled the show too quickly....he didn't consider all the people he was putting out of work...people who had nothing to do with this. ::) ::)

Rosane was never one to not be a little controversal shes been that way for a long time but the tweets completely killed it though

ABC knew what they were getting into with her, but I think they were hoping they could "contain her" for the sake of the show. She didn't, and she gave them a reason to cancel it. I feel for crew members that are now suddenly out of work because of her actions.

Well the writers quit, without them there is no show. Plus I am sure the advertisers would have had something to say and that would have been the end. ABC is owned by Disney these days. Disney has a family image. I am sure the staff/crew will get a severance package or put on the replacement show. It is not as if that was the only show. Personally I think it is a great example to the younger generation that your actions (even if it is "just words") have consequences.

I honestly don't care. She has a right to her opinion. They all make racist comments. Just depends on who and what you insult. If you insult Trump not a word will be said. If you insult Republicans not a word will be said. If you insult Christians not a word will be said. Insult the opposite of all that and all h*ll breaks loose.
As for cancelling the show and everyone being out of work - they could have just killed her off. I thought of that this morning. But the people on that show all have plenty of money and they all will be doing something new in a week or two so no big deal.

I'm so bummed, this was the first show in a long time that I've actually been enjoying. The original was great and this was going pretty good, especially Jackie and Darlene. What she tweeted was bad but wow they really took immediate action. Guarantee if Roseanne was liberal and that tweet was directed at anyone connected to Trump, there would be no thought at all about axing her show.

I agree Sendmicheck, good grief, Trump says racist crap all the time and is constantly tweeting. But they sure haven't canceled him :) I heard he was advocating for her haha. But the thing is, I didn't think it was all THAT bad, and she did apologize and removed the tweet and closed her account. Sheesh, they could at least give her a warning first. They didn't hurt the cast near as much as the fans. I love the show, always have, always will, and I also heard that FOX might pick it up. I'm all for that!!

And I like Wanda Sykes and all, but I kind of thought the writing wasn't near as good as it was before. Shoot, I'm sure they can find new writers easily enough.

I have never liked her and pretty much always thought she was offensive. I finally looked last night and saw the tweet that is in question and I don't really see a problem with it. There have been a lot worse tweets, cartoon, and jokes made about Republicans, Donald Trump, and Christians and everybody says it's freedom of speech.
Somebody made the comment that this is just a distraction to take people's mind off real problems and that makes sense. Half the flippin country is bent out of shape over this and so worried about it. WHO CARES! Look at HER official twitter account. She is an offensive loud mouthed blowhard. She attacks everyone who doesn't agree with her. She insults everybody coming and going.
They could have kept the show and just killed her off. The tweet was not half as bad as a lot of the other stuff I see so canceling the show, her talent agent firing her, and everything else that is happening because of ONE tweet that she did apologize for seems extensive.

She apologized. Not a lot more she can do. I am sure the person the tweet was about has done things just as bad. People are too vengeful these days. They are out for blood. Even in the little people in the world. A man wanted a cashier fired from her job because she refused to accept an out of date coupon. IF she accepts the coupon and it is out of date then SHE gets in trouble. But he goes on a rant and wants her to be fired from her job? People are too full of hate these days.

Racist is a word like bully it is way over used and mostly used incorrectly. I wonder why you don't think the racist tweets made by the butt of this joke are racist. No that is freedom of speech. Well Roseanne has the same freedom of speech everyone else does.
Do you laugh at the jokes and memes making fun of Donald Trump? Or do you laugh at them? This country is so divided it is unreal and it is never going to change. People are too full of hate. This stupid tweet has people every where who had nothing to do with it fighting, calling each other names, insulting each other, and out for blood and it doesn't even concern them.
I have read where other networks have already offered to pick up the show. Like will go on. And all this attention even the ones meaning it for negative will do nothing but further her career.

A person doesn't HAVE to like black people or white people or Christians or Atheists or Muslims or LGBTQ or women or men or liberals or conservatives. But it's better for everyone if you keep that to yourself. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
I stopped watching/reading the news and I quit all my social media accounts, because I'm so tired of everyone tearing everyone else down. The internet has really exposed how savage people can be.

I wasn't a big fan of the show when it first came out and had no absolutely no interest in the re-release, especially when I heard that hit had a political bend to it which wasn't the initial aim/focus of the show when it was originated. The media is up in arms citing other comedians that have said inappropriate things. I may be wrong but these other comedians made these statements while entertaining people that paid for, and expected, this behavior while Roseanne made her inappropriate statement from the confines of her home and could be taken literally for her intention. I did find the response from Ambien (the drug company that RoseAnne blamed her behavior on) humorous-"racism is not a known side effect". I am thinking that more went into the show cancellation than one poorly thought out comment.

The same thing happened recently with me and Facebook. I was perfectly happy with my page and had it for some time. Everything was going along perfectly well until one day Facebook decided I had to either receive a code by text or email. Well, guess what? I never updated my old phone or email. Both were long gone. So I tried to contact them but nothing happened. I set up a new page thinking I could just deactivate it once they got back to me. I had provided my new phone and email. But, no, nothing happened. Now I have two Facebook pages it looks like and it is sort of a pain in the ***! Only the newest one streams on my smartphone. I know there must be some way to fix it, but frankly, I just haven't felt like it yet.
Yeah...me neither....I'll get around to it someday...maybe...kinda...sorta... ??? ;)

I believe she deserved to be fired for the inappropriate / racist tweet she made. She should have thought about it before posting it. I don't understand how she wasn't expecting a negative backlash especially with the ABC president being black. I also feel that her apology was not sincere after she posted more tweets after and in the following days going back and forth. I watched Roseanne when I was younger and liked the show; I didn't want the newest season. I hope they do bring the news show back without Roseanne because all the cast & crew shouldn't be affected by her bad choices.

What she tweeted was no worse than what everybody else tweets. There was a horrible tweet about Trump's wife made by a liberal and nothing has been said about it all all. Called her a something c--nt. People just laughed at it. Said she has a right to her opinion. Well so does Roseanne.
Face is people are horrible to each other and social media is the absolute worse. If someone has a problem with someone else or if you go to McDonald's and the cashier doesn't just honey drop kiss your butt then you go online and trash them and demand they be fired. And if you get enough people to jump on your band wagon then you get that person in trouble when in reality they done nothing wrong. This world is pathetic and getting worse.

Boils down to money talks. And the two businesses had nothing to do with each other. She just knew where the other person worked and went to her superiors and basically told them I want her fired or I will not do business with you any longer so they gave her what she wanted.
People are just down right evil.

Then half the people in tv land needs to be fired. Others have said worse than she did. It depends on who you insult. And she did apologize. She didn't go back and forth on that. Unfortunately I did read some on her Twitter account and she did argue with some people who were attacking her. YOU would defend yourself as well if people were attacking you. Anybody would.
Celebrities do this type of things ALL the time and then immediately apologize. I doubt any of them are sincere.

It's 2 different things. No, just because you can say something doesn't mean you should. But technically she can say what ever she wants. Like I said before, I do not like her, I never have, but if you are going to punish her for what she said then you need to punish the rest of them. THE ONLY REASON she was fired and the show was cancelled was because she supports Trump. That's it.

Sometimes you can google and find out why they changed. I guess they think you won't really notice. And a lot of people wouldn't. There have been other shows that done that. Usually it is just not the same at all with the new one.
Have you ever seen the orig first episode of Leave it to Beaver? It had several characters change. The older brother and the dad both changed and seems like somebody else did. But I like the new ones better. Prob because that is all I ever saw. I don't remember where I saw that orig. Seems like it is on the DVD the first season.

No, they changed maybe in about the 3rd season? Maybe later? I didn't watch the show that much but did catch that they changed that character. I have always thought she was offensive. The show was okay more when the kids were younger. I didn't like it at all after they got bigger.

I never liked her and I really didn't like the show either so I am glad it got cancelled. I don't know why anyone was surprised about what she said. I mean just look at her show.
So everything that I don't like I should wish it would get cancelled? We are not all the same and everybody likes different stuff. There were a lot of innocent people who lost their jobs here.

She was incredibly stupid to make a racist tweet on twitter. I did enjoy her show but I'll never watch anything with her in it again. I would consider watching an adaptation of the show with all the actors except for her ...

But you get to keep your show on TBS if you call the Presidents daughter a "C*nt" . That is certainly wrong in my book but I guess it's not "racism" so it didn't get the attention Roseanne did

I thought it was his wife. All depends on who you insult. If you insult a Christian, a Republican, something like that then it's not a big deal.

Sometimes you can google and find out why they changed. I guess they think you won't really notice. And a lot of people wouldn't. There have been other shows that done that. Usually it is just not the same at all with the new one.
Have you ever seen the orig first episode of Leave it to Beaver? It had several characters change. The older brother and the dad both changed and seems like somebody else did. So many people tend to step over boundary lines and making racist statements. I have never liked her shows but she somehow thought she could say anything and get away with it.
