I am so sad to hear of Anthony Bourdain's suicide. Emotional issues and depression are real as well as treatable in a variety of ways.
We must remove the stigma, come to the table and engage in an honest and open dialogue about the issues and seek, practical, productive treatments and solutions.

Yeah, I was sad too about him.. I just hope no one else copycats his suicide. There are ways to get help and live. You can be happy. :) :)    :peace:

This was so sad yet another person committing suicide not sure where your mind has to be to want to do this to yourself but I pray for his family and his friends

well like they say money can not buy happiness

I was sad to hear this too. I heard on the news that Suicide is number 10 on the list of what kills children. Sadly it's one that we can control to a point.

WHO?
Google him, he was an amazing man that gave us a look into foods and culture of other countries. He was a humble and kind man.

I really liked Anthony a great deal and watched many of his shows. He was intelligent and able to relate to all kinds of people and situations. I have to say I was somewhat sad when I first heard this and have continued to think a bit about him off and on. I have wondered what drove him to it. He seemed to have a great life and have a wonderful attitude. I guess something was going on beneath the surface. RIP, Anthony. I think you are missed more than you might have expected.

WHO?
The chef who said he would poison the President of the United States with Hemlock if he catered a summit....
worked for CNN, enough said.

He was much more than an employee of CNN

I think that it is sad that he chose to take his life and even sadder that he is getting so much attention for it. Sadder yet is the potential for a rash of copy cat suicides to follow. People with not as much going for them in life as Anthony Bourdain will see him as someone who had everything life could ask for yet deemed it not worth living. How will that make the person, with seemingly less going for them, value their life? Suicide is a selfish decision with very little thought for the surviving circle of influence. In this case it appears that more public light is being shed on a choice that takes so many lives each and every day. Maybe someone will read about the warning signs that sometimes crop up, when someone is thinking about taking their life, and actually be able to help someone else that may be thinking about doing it. Any death is a loss and it is sad that people mourn the loss of a television actor-someone that they have never met who has made a decision that my belief system says is not a decision for us to make.

Depression is at an all time high. It’s very sad that so many people suffer. I try and make sure I discuss this with my kids so they know they can come and talk to me. Very sad.

I think some people are just too proud to reach out for help. I don't know if that was the issue here, nevertheless he must've felt that there was no hope for him. :(

Thank you for your thoughtful, insightful, responses.

Yeah, he said cracking down on people with dirty kitchens was gonna suck and also he didn't want to feed everyone in the world. He died because of you. What are you gonna give him?

Very unnecessary to bring anything political into this. I never heard that he said such a thing. He was a great chef with a wonderful way with people and different cultures.
