Bette recently stated that she was relieved Joe Jackson had died in so many words. She says she hated every minute he lived. That wasn't nice to say. What do you think? Freedom of speech? Evil? Or should she had just kept that comment to herself?
-
I have no idea why she would say such a thing. I've always loved Bette Midler's music and her outspoken nature. But this is one of those times she should have considered how it would have made his survivors feel. She probably should not have tweeted her feelings about the man. That's one of the issues with Twitter and other social media sites, people will post their feelings without thinking.
-
Did she know him personally? Did he do something to her? It's weird to say she hated every minute he lived like he actually did something to her.
-
Allegedly he molested his daughters - at least two of them. It is alleged that he set his son Michael up to meet "business men" when Michael was still a kid/teen and that he would leave Michael alone with these grown men. One of his brothers (I forgot which one) said that Michael would come home after these meetings and be sick for about a week. So it sounds like Joe Jackson set up his son to get molested/raped for money- allegedly.

I didn't know about that. Thanks for that info.

Hmmmm, that sounds odd coming from someone like her. Seems that there must be more to the story we don't know.
-
"If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"
-
Its such a definite statement. Seems like she must have a good reason to say it.
-
This is freedom of speech, even if what she said wasn't nice.
-
She should have that kept those comments or thoughts to herself, no one should say things about hating death on a person, no matter how you feel about them. Karma will visit her, she needs to repent.

I know he was suppose to be "hard" on his kids and would hit them with belts, but I didn't hear or know he sexually abused them. If he did, where was Kathrine (his wife) I think if your husband is abusing your kids you are 100% aware of it. You can either do something about it, or turn a blind eye to it. I know what I would do and its not turning a blind eye.

I think people just need to keep their comments to themselves
-
I wouldn't know what the truth is because I didn't see the tweet. Did anyone else? When I did a search, all I got was rumor mills. Plus the fact that anyone can hack someone's Twitter account. Other well knowns have had their accounts hacked, even Trump. None of this came from her directly so I am being cautious.
I do know one of the daughters did come out and had some not so nice words about Jackson that weren't nice but I guess that story was hidden from view. .Only time will tell.
-
Doesn't sound like something that should be said to the public but then again, not knowing the reasoning behind it, it's hard to really say. From what I've heard he was a really awful person.
-
That was not a nice to say by Bette Midler. Whether Joe Jackson was good or bad he is in a better place now.
-
people can't keep their mouths shut anymore, very rude
-
No I don't personally think it is freedom of speech more like rudeness and cruelty. I think people who are famous begin to think they can say anything they want. And I guess they can and do but it certainly lowers my opinion of them.
-
Sometimes we hate others so much that we want them dead, but that doesn’t mean we’d get rid of them forever. We could bump into them again in Heaven!
-
I am so tired of the "freedom of speech" card that people play whenever they say some very inappropriate remarks (such as the case with Bette Midler). Especially since she is a celebrity, her words will be scrutinized heavily by the public. She better be prepared to suffer whatever backlash she receives as a result of it. Give it a few days before her publicist releases a statement (or she releases one herself) for apologizing for her remarks. Regardless of the controversial style that Joe Jackson used to raise his children, no one should be rejoicing over the man's death.

Hello! :D :)
First of all rest in peace to Joe Jackson. Now I think we all are in title to say whatever it is we want to say she just have to take responsibilities for her words. I personally think that is inappropriate to say about a dead person. Nonetheless, we don't know the reason behind her statement. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

She must have really knew his personality to express such hatred towards him after death! Not nice but freedom of speech is her side here in the USA!
-
Bette never knows how to shut up.
-
Really strange thing for her to say and very rude and unnecessary.
-
Hmm, that is a strange statement coming from her.
-
Who cares if it's not . He was an sob and did not deserve respect for the things he did.
-
I don't know what she said but it's her opinion, she knows better that family.
-
She probably should have kept the comment to herself... at least for now :-X Maybe in time she could've expressed exactly why she feels that way about the man, but now is too soon. :o
-
Shrug. It's her opinion, it wasn't inciting violence toward him. People have always been glad when people they thought vile or hated died. ISTM I heard the talk of him molesting his daughters before, too, but I can't recall where.
-
I am surprised that she would say something like that. Look what happened to Roseann, so I guess it is good that she does not have a job, because she would probably be fired.
-
I think if some one hurts kids, they need to be called out and be the truth be known.
-
I too have always liked Bette Midler. Who knows what's true and what's checkbook journalism anymore. But the way I see it anyone (celebrity or not) has the right to say what they want. When they want. With that there are consequences. Rosanne comes to mind. There is also judgement. Not our place but our human nature is to judge. Everyone. Dead or alive. More importantly there is judgement from the man upstairs... ultimately we'll all have opinions but there is only one that has the power to judge.
-
Bette Milder, I don't care what she said about Joe Jackson. I don't even know who Joe Jackson is.
-
Some people make comments they later regret.
