He has just revealed he has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. That is probably one of the worst cancers with little hope of beating it.
-
I was so shocked to learn that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Prayers for him and his family.
-
I just heard this earlier.I couldnt help everytime ive seen him either on game shows or commercials he was going to live forever.
How mortal we all are.I wish him well as well as others suffering.
-
I heard about this. I feel so bad :( I watch Jeopardy all the time and would've never thought he had that. He will be in my prayers.
-
That indeed is sad. Nobody has ever survived pancreatic cancer yet.
-
Alex is such a classy man. It was hard to hear the bad news about his condition. He has always been a favorite of my Mother's. If I remember correctly, she would use the word galant to describe him. I will wish him the very best.
-
That is so sad,, watched him the beginning
-
Sad to hear this. Pancreas cancer is a fast killer. My prayers are with him for a quick recovery.
-
I've lost a couple people to pancreatic cancer. Its a horrible disease.
-
I've lost a couple family members and neighbor to that disease. I like Alex Trebek. This is so sad.
-
I just read that online. Special prayers for him. I've known two people who had been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. One lived a few months after diagnosis, the other one lived 1 1/2 years. He had gone all over the country for special treatments (he had lots of money).
-
I just saw the announcement this morning, prayers for him
-

But he has a really good attitude. I liked that he has asked everyone to pray for him. That tells me where he stands and that when he does die he is ready to go.

Yes they have. The rate is low but there have been people to beat it.
-
I was surprised to hear this. He was one of those celebrities that never seemed to get older. He appears to have a great sense of humor and outlook on life. I think that makes a difference, even if only a minor one, in fighting and surviving something so tragic. I wish him and his family all the fortitude it takes to get through this.
-
Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is apparently one of those cancers that they don't even usually find until it is too late. I wonder what the symptoms of it are. Alex Trebek is so positive and upbeat, though, he makes it hard to think he isn't going to make it, but the odds are, he won't.
-
So sad a terrible disease
-
Alex Trebek deserves all the prayer and love of the country has been a upstanding person and a example of a great person
-
So sorry to hear about his cancer but he is a fighter and with God you can beat anything. I pray he continue to fight, my brother die ofthat cancer.
-
I find it amazing that he plans on working through treatment while beating this Cancer thing. That's an amazing attitude to have. My father passed away from Pancreatic cancer... the treatments were horrid. Praying for Alex. Praying for medical advancements for all affected by Cancer and the side effects from treatments.
-
Hope the best for him. :peace:
-
sad to hear, brave the way he told about it.

There are no symptoms until it reaches about stage 4. This is why it is usually a death sentence.
Your negative attitude is something he does not need. I remember a church I use to attend and this woman asked for prayers for a woman that I think had cancer. So they pray and I swear she stands up and says "well she is gonna die anyway." I was like then why did you ask anybody to pray for her. If I am ever sick please don't pray for me.
Attitude makes a lot of difference and so does not believing. There have been people, very few, but there have been people who have beat this disease. He very well could be one of them. He has a strong faith in God. God very well could use this well known man to show what He can do.

I agree. Just because an illness is considered deadly doesn’t mean you should seriously doubt anyone with the illness will live much longer. We all will die, but we have to keep our life expectancies maximal so we can live until it’s really supposed to be our time to die.

True. Alex has a great outlook. If he was saying "oh I am gonna die, this will kill me" then yeah he would probably die pretty soon. Your words are very powerful.
There was a woman who worked at our local Walmart who was having surgery. There was an excellent chance she would make it thru the surgery. But all she said from the time she found out she needed surgery until the day she went in was "I will die. I won't make it through the surgery". AND.... she didn't.
-
I saw that video today that he made. He has a good attitude and is planning on fighting instead of just giving up. I admire him for his attitude and it will go a long way during his illness to get him through it.
-
That is reallyo too bad. Pancreatic cancer has such a low survival rate. I hope he can hold on until his contract is over.

That is 3 years. If he makes it that long he needs to just live to be an old man. lol He said he couldn't die because he had 3 years left on his contract. haha
I am just curious as to how he can keep doing the show and go thru the treatments. They are pretty rough.
Maybe they will work with him.
Has anyone else ever hosted Jeopardy? I could not imagine if he no longer hosted the show someone else doing the show. Or liking it.

Art Fleming was the original host.

lots of prayers to him and his family. i have several friends who have that and right now they are doing well.
i have no doubt he will put up a fight and wish him the best :rainbow: :peace:
-
Sad to this and he announced it with such class and grace; prayers to him and his family.
-
Alex should continue his optimism and he should be ok, prayers for Alex Trebek!    :angel11: :angel11: :angel11: :angel11: :angel11:

Oh wow that's terrible and sad to hear. My mother's friend had it. Found out around July/ August and was gone around November.
-
Sad to read the news about him. Always love watching his show. Praying for him and his love ones to pass this situation in life.
-
Let's hope that he can survive. This type of cancer is hard to treat. But I do hope he can make it.
-
This is awful. :( I'm really praying he can beat the odds, but that cancer is the worst you can get. I love Alex Trebek, ugh.
-
very sad to hear but as he said he can beat and besides he has to cause he has 3 more years on his contract but all prayers sent his way
-
I was so sad to hear this on the radio the other night. My prayers go out to his family. I know that's an especially nasty type of cancer but I hope he beats it.

I do not know who that is. I never knew anybody but Alex to host it. I will have to look that up. :D
-
Praying for him.
-
That is such a shame.
-
sad indeed....and such a rare disease to beat
-
Alex yrs earlier hosted Concentration. He was quite good on that show too.
-
Very sad news indeed.... He's going to try and fight it, but I don't see it lasting very long.
-
This was a shocker when announced it. I really pray for the best for him.
-
I read 2-6 weeks is the norm for someone diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I do not understand how you can be that sick and not know it. Like I already said they were talking about a man at church that went to the doc and he thought he had something like a cold and he is completely eat up. They gave him 2-6 weeks. That is so sad.
-
We all have our challenges, he conquered many things he just may conquer cancer too.
-

He very well may. And he has already been public about his faith in God and knowing God can heal him. He could be a real testimony. Either way - He is a winner!
-
I was/am very saddened when I heard of the news. I watch Jeopardy every day, and even on weekends when they are repeats. I just hope that if the worse comes for Alex, that they cancel the show. There could never be anyone to replace him

They will not cancel the show. It is a big show. Kind of like Family Feud. They just got a new host. It is all about the almighty dollar. I cannot imagine anyone else hosting that show though.
-
Bob Barker got replaced on Price is Right by Drew Carey and i think Drew does a good job and even seems to have more humilty with the contestants.
We are all replacable even tho i think since Johnny Carson has been gone from the Tonight show i have NO interest in other hosts.
But Alex was good.We all wish him well.
-
I love and admire him so much> Such a horrible throw at a great man. My hopes are medicine has come a very long way and that his treatments go successfully!
-
I felt really bad when I heard that. I always liked him and I really liked watching the show.
-
I think that is what Patrick swayze had, very sad.
-
It was sad to see that. I hope they find a way to treat Cancer because too many people are getting it. It is very scary you just never how it is going to affect you.
-
When I learned of this tragic news, I immediately thought about Patrick Swayze (who passed away from the same disease years earlier). Trebek has a very optimistic outlook (which is always a positive sign). I hope he can successfully beat this insidious disease. Damn you, cancer!
-
He recent won the fight of cancer only to find out he now got pancreatic cancer. This cancer seems to be frequently found on Celebs & famous people. Didn't this cancer killed Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Aretha Frankin..... With so many studies on cancer research , why haven't there anything developed? If nothing else a procedure to detect the cancer before finding out about it & it's too late to do anything. I hope Mr. Trebek survive this new challenge & have strength to fight the good fight. Hope the Force surrounds him during his time of need.
-
i admire how he is trying to beat it
-
As long as Alex stays optimistic, he will be ok.
-
That is so sad. My best friend just passed of cancer the beginning of the month.
-
I hadn't heard about Alex Trebek's cancer diagnosis. Pancreatic is one of the worst for being able to treat and beat.
I have always enjoyed watching JEOPARDY with him as the host.
-
Hearing someone has cancer is terrible. My sister had leukemia and survived. Chances of surviving are not good but there is that possibility . Trying to be positive doing little things and hoping for the best is pretty much all you can do. Hopefully Trebek can beat his cancer and survive because that dude is a classy guy and if you ask me deserves to win this fight
-
It is sad that he has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
-
I was very sorry to hear this too. Alex Trebec is such a class act, he is handling the news beautifully. I have never heard of anyone surviving stage 4 pancreatic cancer but this man sure is going to try. It's really inspiring.
-
Very sad news to hear... he is a TV legend..... Very horrific way to go. I lost my mother to pancreatic cancer years ago and it still remains untreatable.
-
I read that on TMZ about 2 weeks ago. My prayers goes out to him and his family.
-
I have been sending positive vibes his way. I cannot imagine anyone else hosting Jeopardy.
-
I wonder how he is doing now?

Bless him. I really hope he pulls through. :(
-
That is such a shock and so sad. Prayers for him and his family. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Jeopardy was one of my favorite game shows and he was the perfect host. I even had the Nintendo video game when I was a child. Pancreatic cancer is devastating. I hope he holds on. It was very sad to see what it did to Aretha Franklin last year when she passed.
