Title: Remove Contests
Post by: JediJohnnie on April 12, 2019, 11:37:07 am
Why do we even have a contests part of the forum anymore? It's been defunct for the better part of a year. Remove it, otherwise it's just a reminder that we don't have any cool contests anymore, since Kohler moved on.

I second that emotion.

I really love using FusionCash, but I have noticed that it takes a little while after an offer option is no longer available before it is removed from the site. I know maintaining this site is not a simple task, but it does get kind of annoying sometimes.

I have to agree with this one. As a new member, it was a little confusing to see that section without anything new in it.

I've noticed that too.  Long after Radio Loyalty had discontinued, the tab was still on the offer page.

Just now I went to the various offers to see if it was still there.  It has been removed but it did take some time for that to happen.

You're probably right in that it does take time and work to maintain the FC site.  So if there is a need for a clean up on aisle one, it most likely will take a while.

To everyone on this thread: I echo every one of your sentiments. Radio Loyalty is essentially dead on this website...yet it is still available to click on. And the forum contests, also dead, are still on here. What gives? The other thing that grinds my gears a bit are some of the Paid to Click videos. Most of them, on Offertoro, are unavailable. I understand that FusionCash has nothing to do with it, but it was just aggravating me.

I agree, I came into this thinking they were a thing and got really excited!

I agree, I am curious why Fusion Cash never responds to any of the questions or comments about offers that have gone away.  Those of us who have been here for awhile know that there are some offers that just aren't available any more.  It would be so nice to have an "announcements" thread, where FC admins could give us a heads up on things like that...it sure would save a lot of time with people sending in tickets about issues.  If FC becomes aware of an issue (like the recent Tap Research glitch), it would be great if they would acknowledge it and give us the heads up.

I also second the idea of removing the contests and promotions thread.

I miss those contests.  The money earned was just an added bonus.

It would have to be in a form of a ticket they rarely if ever have responded to much if anything on the forums if ever since ive been on the panel and people actually have to send a ticket in not talk about it

Not only that, they were fun!! It's one thing that they are dead in the water now, but the fact that no one from admin would even post any explanation about it is so disheartening. Just tell us what the deal is for cryin' out loud!! :)

Found this to stimulate your Word Chains, great for car trips!

WORD SERIES MVPs: THE CHAINS OF WEEK 1299
In Week 1299 we posted a list of words that were recently added to Merriam-Webster’s Scrabble dictionary, and asked the Losers to take any two of the words and create a word chain to link them, by meaning, similar sounds or both. Hildy Zampella’s elegantly pithy “LISTICLE > *bleep* > NUTJOB” made the Empress wish she hadn’t stated a minimum of six words in the chain.

Kjstrukel, your idea is excellent!  I can't help but wonder why it (or something similar) was not implemented before Kohler left.  I think most people know when someone works at a startup (assuming Kohler was part of the admin group that answered support tickets early on when FC was only a couple of years old), when that person leaves all that experience goes out the door with him/her.  And the business has usually evolved in such a way that it will save money by not replacing staff as employees resign, instead asking more of the people who remain.  I suspect Kohler was the "last of the Mohicans," but I really don't know because I didn't discover FC until 2015.

It should not be hard to add an "Announcements" subforum unless it was Kohler himself who developed the entire FC forum setup to begin with and no one has touched it since.  He certainly was active back in 2007 going forward, which you'll discover for yourself if you go diving into topics (threads) you'll find in this forum from the past.  It's all there.

And please clear out the mini promos (sports related and non-sports related) section or find someone willing to continue posting the trivia and sports events offering the extra pennies (and fun) it always provided.

There are a lot of things on the site that no longer work that need to be removed.  They obviously do not update their website.  I maintain a couple of websites and the one that is for an organization I update it at least once a week.  If there are any issues I fix them as soon as I know about them.

Simply put the person running the site either got bored with doing it or just is to busy to do them anymore. I do agree if its not going to be used it should be taken off the forums. No need for it

I fully agree. I keep getting excited about these contests only to look and see they're super outdated :-(

They definitely need to remove these. People get excited when they first see it just to find out there is nothing there.

So why was the contest removed? I am very new to this just wondering.

^They weren't really "removed" they just kinda stopped showing up. There was an admin/user who posted them to the forum every week. We all had the opportunity to take part and submit answers/predictions - then would receive ¢ credits for our correct answers. But over time the contests slowly went away and eventually stopped altogether when they were no longer being posted.
