This post is probably oriented toward women more than men, but men can surely respond. The question is whether you would rather find a new doctor or a new hairdresser? Which would be the bigger stressor?
Myself, I have trouble changing hairdressers and have done this the most often. I have been with my doctor a little over 10 years. Having medical background, I guess I would just feel comfortable interviewing doctors. However, finding a competent hairdresser at a price that is not ridiculous is no easy matter. Right now I am settling in with a new hairdresser I have seen about 4 times but I am still not sure as her prices are a bit high. Her skills seem fine so we'll see...

I can't afford either one of them.

I'd rather stick with my physician than have to find a new one. I go to Rob Roy to get my haircut, so whoever is there cuts it. Besides hair always grows back.

I would prefer to stay with my doctor; but if it came down to me having to find a new one then I would; try to stay on top of my health as for hairdresser not as important anymore; since I am retired and no longer in the workforce full time; I can always go to the local beauty school and that would be fine with me as well as less costly.

I'd rather find a new doctor then a new hairdresser.

I would rather find a new hairdresser right now even though as you mentioned finding a hairdresser can be very difficult. For us getting good medical care has been more difficult over the years thanks to our limited insurance. We had several issues for years with doctors until most recently finding a decent one who we hope we can stay with for the foreseeable future. Also as much as I want my hair to look nice at a good price I value my health more since I've had a lot of health issues in recent years and want to stay healthy as possible. I know what you mean about price. In all our years of dealing with hairdressers we only had one that really gave us great prices. Everybody seems to be so expensive nowadays. I liked to get my hair braided and that is so expensive that I can no longer afford it. I hope your hairdresser works out for you.

I just hate getting my hair cut so I will pick doctor. I go to a new doctor everytime I turn around any way. I can probably count on one hand all the people who have ever cut my hair.

My hairdresser is my niece and I rarely go to the doctor, so that's a easy choice for me.

I'd rather a new hairdresser. I only go to one once a year because of the cost and my hair no longer grows as fast as it used to back in the day. My hair used to grow more than an inch in 6 weeks. Now it grows an inch in 6 months.

I don't have either one. It's been about 10 years since I've been to a salon, and probably 5 years since I've been to a doctor.
-
I would much rather have the same doctor cause they know all your history. Having a the same hairdresser is nice, but not necessary.

I would definitely keep my doctor. I just changed hairdressers a few months ago. My 'old' one really wasn't giving me the cut i wanted and the kind she gave me for years. I got tired of giving money and not being satisfied. I found a new one and 3 cuts later still like her. I would not give up my oncologist and my GP is my next door neighbor and she's a great doctor.

If I am not happy with my doctor, definitely, I would replace her. That is more important than a hairdresser. But if I had to replace a hairdresser, yes money is a big decision but I need to make sure that I would be getting my money's worth.

I do not like to change anything..LOL I just get stuck in routines. But I have had to change doctors because of insurance.I have had the same hairdresser for 30 years.

I rather stay with my Doctor. I like stability. You can find a hairdresser anywhere-almost next door to each other.
-
Seeing that I don't go to a salon (used to but stopped years ago) I guess it would have to be doctor.

I agree with you - I think new hairdressers for a reasonable price are harder to find than a new doctor would be. Here in northern NJ, doctors are everywhere and most of them are pretty good, but a good hairdresser at a good price is a real find.

I prefer to stay with my doctor or find a new one... than a hairdresser, because I can sometimes do my own hair
