There are people who don't feel comfortable putting their money in the bank; so I found an article listing some places that people stash money:
1. Freezer
2. Between books
3. Buried in the ground'
4. In a pill bottle
5. In a paper towel roll
6. In an outside shed
7. In an old pair of shoes
8. In a kleenex tissue box
9. In a hygiene box
10. In a stuffed animal
11. In the top part of the toilet
12. In the cat litter box
13. In a trailer hitch
14, In an old bottle of wine
15. In a box of dry pasta
On this list, the freezer and stuffed animal are two that I have heard people of doing.
Have you heard of any of these places? Do you know of other places not on the list?

I have many places around the house I stash money. In fact, while cleaning I love coming across places even I forgot I had. Ha ha ha :D Now, I tend to keep them in only a few places so this doesn't happen as often. I figure this is best as I am getting older! ;)
-
Well I don't have that to worry about, don't keep any money left over after paying bills.
-
I have a few places here and there where I hide money. I remember once, a long time ago, I had put about 30 or 40 bucks in an envelop then put it in a safe place. 8)
I had completely forgotten that I had the cash. Many months went by when I was pleasantly surprised by what I found in my dresser ( or wherever it was ). :o
Now I have become more careful about where my cash stash goes. It's one thing to stash money away; it's another thing to forget you had it in the first place. ::)
-
What cash??? I can't seem to hold on to it long enough to stash it. I do keep some hid in a couple of savings accounts...
-
I honestly can't remember the last time I had cash. I use a card for everything. Even vending machines have card readers now.
-
I wish I had some cash to stash
-
I have heard about most of these places. I have used books (I don't anymore) but still when I get rid of a book I turn it it upside down and shake the pages to see if anything falls out. LOL
-
I stick to the Bank or my pocket.
-
ours is mostly gone after paying the bills...so ours stays in the bank...
-
I have three places I keep emergency money. I also need to keep some money in my car. A few times I left my wallet at home and could have used that money.
-
Have a few places around the house and also keep loose change (mainly) quarters in the car; they do add up and take the weight of my purse!
-
I use the bank. However I do have a five gallon jug which I throw only silver coins in. I have it marked on the outside when its near 100.00 dollars. Just after passing that line I usually cash it in for bills. Thinking of letting it get half filled then cash it in. Wonder what it would add up to.
-
I have a huge pickle jar where all of the loose change goes, Sometimes I drop in a few bucks . I don't empty it for a long time. Last time we did we had almost $600.00 in it. Enjoyed the vacation. A friend and I went to clean out her Aunts house after she passed. We had to check every pocket on clothes and all of the furniture She had envelopes taped everywhere. money in her clothes under the mattress and just about anywhere you would think . It was a little on$12000.00. And some of the clothes had already been donated. Wonder what we missed.
-
In safe place, like travelers checks, so no thief comes and steals
my hard earned money.
-
I have heard of some of those places, butnot many of them. Take you money to the bank.
-
I can't say that I have ever stashed my money around the house. That's an interesting list though.
-
Why would you hide cash in any of these places?

TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS?

I have a coin jar where I throw my change when it gets to cumbersome in my wallet. When its full, it can be about $500.
-
I have never been one to stash actual cash. We do have a growler that we fill with change, but that's actually in plain sight.
-
If I stash any cash it takes me a very long time to find it.
-
some interesting places people store money around the house
-
For the most part I use the bank, I know my husband stacks some somewhere but he never tells me, he knows I will spend it LOL so it is safe to say that I do not have a place where to stash cash.
-
I have one place where I stash some cash in the house.
-
It would be too dangerous for me to stash cash like that. My memory is so terrible I would forget where it was. My grandma used to hide cash around the house and I'm positive some of the books etc. given away once her memory started to go had cash in them.
-
I just have a coin jar I keep hidden in my room. There isn't much cash in it, but there is some in case I need it someday. It is good to have.

I had a giant Mason Jar full of pennies on my fireplace and when we moved I had to carry a bagful to the bank several dozen times because I could not even pick it up. It had $220.17 in pennies, so it does add up.

I find my wallet a good place to hold my money.
-
Some really weird places.
-
If you stash money around in the house, who do you think will find it?
-
Deep into a hole in my bed and somewhere in the closet within a shoe box.
-
I have no need to stash money anywhere but I know people who hide it under the mattress
-
I try to keep my money in one area because I will forget at times where I put it. I have found money in my pockets or in other purses when I switch bags.
-
Those are all interesting places that's for sure....I have a couple places.....not too much because I don't like to carry much cash, and I obviously won't reveal those places.....
-
My change always goes on a jar that sits on my desk.
When one of my friends still lived with her parents, her brother often snuck into her room to steal her money. She had a collection of dolls on a dresser, so she stuck money in a little tin box inside of a tin box (tin box inception :P) and stuck them behind the dolls. She never lost money every again!
-
it if not often that I have extra money to stash in any other place other than in my purse ready to spend.
-
If you are looking to hide it, and it's bills, I've heard some put them in socks. You just have to remember which ones and not try to wear them. I personally stick them underneath drawers in an nightstand or end table.
-
I've heard of people, especially senior citizens, storing their money under a mattress. Um, I will stick to my wallet and a bank/credit union, thank you very much, LOL.
-
I had heard of a couple of them we never have cash left at the end of the month.
-
The old 'under the mattress' seems to work...until you have to change sheets.
-
I guess I never thought about it. There are some creative ideas in this list though.

I have heard of a number of the cash stashing locations in your list. Most are certainly not places a burglar would think of checking....at least I wouldn't think of looking in a feminine hygiene product box or in the cat's litter box.

at work or in a safety deposit box
-
I stash my extra spending money in one of my lingerie bags in a bra.
-
I never have enough cash to stash, I use my debit card 99% of the time, even for small amounts, so I dont carry cash
-
Usually a hidden box also I was thinking don't those pencil case bags or boxes even kind of look like a place you could put some haha.
-
I try to stash cash away and pretend it doesn't exisit. Half the time it works because I forget where I put it some times.

Hello!
Very interesting indeed. Since a lot of my money and my things have been stolen over the years I only feel safe leaving my money in the bank. I currently have two brick banks, two online banks, and two other money-saving platforms. With that said the many different places that people stash their money is it really safe? If it is that's great but no matter what you choose to do there is always a risk. I just don't want to leave a large stash of money at home as it is just too much of a risk. I remember watching a crime show about a retired grandfather who mistakenly let out his distrust of banks to his family. His granddaughter ends up killing him to try to find the money. Money was not found but he lost his life.

What happened to under your mattress :)

Seeing as I am a true crime junkie, I have heard of most of them. I even used the freezer, myself, once. However, nowadays, I use the bank, investments, and my safety deposit box.
