New Years used to be such a big deal to me and I wouldn't think of not planning on going somewhere and celebrating. Boy, do things change as you get older! Now I don't want to be anywhere but home or at a small gathering nearby. I usually don't even stay awake all the way to midnight anymore. My preference is to spend New Years at home in my PJs!
-
Midnight is early for me. I rarely go to bed before midnight anyway.
-
I went to bed at 11:30 last night. My husband and I planned to pop a bottle of Asti at midnight, but neither of us could stay awake any longer. We're getting old! LoL!
-
No, I didn't bother because it isn't cause for celebration. Its just another year and its not like it won't come to pass.
-
:cat:
Yes!, watched the BallDrop And saw the New Year in with my local fireworks! Win Win!
-
I fell asleep at about 10 p.m. and missed the whole thing. But Happy New Years Everybody anyways!!
-
I use to set up and watch the ball drop. Don't any more. Don't really care anything about staying up.
-
I stayed awake with my fiancé. <3
-
I was asleep by 9:30. It just isn't a very big deal to me these days.
-
My husband and I always did but after he became ill and subsequently passed I don't bother. I hope for a better year and then go to sleep.
-
My spouse was already out like a light but I stayed away until about 1 because we have a dog that can't stand fireworks and they always blow them off for the new year.
-
We went out to a small gathering with friends. It was a good low-key occasion.
-
stayed up to about 1am then hit the bed.
-
When I was younger there was no way we didn’t go to a party and stay out almost all night. Now, we watched the ball drop in our home, and went to bed by 12:10. Big party people, lol
-
Stayed up and watched old Sanford and Son....
-
I went to bed around 3:30AM on news years holiday. I could not stay awake any much longer since I was too tired and been hanging around with family.
-
Yes I always make sure that I'm awake to ring in the New Year.
-
I never stay awake because I am usually doing something else.
-
I went to church and brought in the new year with the church family. We always get out by 12:30 before the bars close and all the crazies and drunks get on the road. This year was great no gunshots in my area and I was in bed by 1.
-
Nope, in bed by 10pm as usual.
-
Last night, I fell asleep. My phone rang just after midnight and I could hear fireworks outside. So, I did not see the ball drop.
-
We used to celebrate it, but it appears to be just another excuse for everyone to go out and get drunk. Not interested in that and not interested in trying to dodge all the drunks out driving after celebrating.
The new year comes in anyway. We stayed up to watch a movie and said "Happy New Year" to each other at midnight. Just as good. Right?
:fish:

Stayed at home! Cooking peas for "good luck" and cabbage for "money" leading right up to midnight central time. I like to watch the NYC Times Square ball drop, but had to see replay. Dallas has joined the big cities by sending off fireworks on Reunion Tower (aka "The Ball" for those of you who may remember the opening sequence to the series "Dallas").
-
:BangHead: Almost always still up at midnight but last night, thanks to vodka was asleep by 11:45 pm.
-
Usually stay up till 1am so yeah awake at midnight. Not so loud only about 10 minutes of bombs going off.
-
I usually am up until after midnight anyway so New Years was no different but my husband decided to go to bed at 11:40. I was like really you cannot wait 20 more minutes.
-
My son and I stayed awake. We like to see the moment the New Year comes in, make goals for the upcoming year, and discuss the goals we made the previous years, did we reach them or not?. He is 12 years old and I think this really helps him make and achieve goals in life
-
I do like to stay up for New Years. I always have. It just doesn't seem like New Years to me if I don't stay up until Midnight.
-
i too had no problem as i rarely go to bed before midnight and was watching a christmas movie after the new years celebration was over
-
It's been years since I've stayed up until midnight to bring in the new year. Last night I was in bed by 10:00!
-
Yes I'm a night owl so I'm usually up that time anyway.
-
We stay home for New Years and as a family do stay up until midnight. We toast to the New Year and wish each other Happy New Year! Small celebration, but we have done this for years.
-
Yes, I stayed up to watch fireworks and ring in the new year. Then I had to take a bus home so by the time I arrived it was 1:30...then I had tolrouble falling asleep until almost 4...lol...just got to live in the moment sometimes....this only happens once a year...
-
No, I've seen many, many new years. I just can't seem to stay awake that late.
-
We use to always stay awake to watch The Ball Drop. Now that we are in our forties and My Husband is Fifty, we always go to bed at ten at night.
-
I went to church and then got home to see the New Year come in.
-
I didn't stay up for New Years. I was in bed by 11:00.
-
i used to stay awake and bring in the new year with *bleep* clark..but since he passed it wasn't the same...usually stayed up anyway...but this year i was in bed sick...hope that doesnt mean i will be sick all year...still sick...

This was the first year in decades that I did not make it to Midnight. At nine in the evening I drove my son, and one of his friends, to a concert venue that was about twenty files from our house. My wife was passed out when I got home so I decided to take a small snooze. I set my alarm for eleven fifty five but the alarm was unsuccessful at waking me up. My son took a ride-share service home which ended up costing one hundred and twenty dollars. I stopped going out on New Year's eve several years ago for precisely this reason. Every business jacks their prices through the roof and I am a penny pinching, tight wad.We spent yesterday getting massages, eating and relaxing with the children. I am headed back to working jobs two and three today.
-
No, My spouse and I usually order Chinese food, watch the Twilight Zone marathon and then at go out onto the deck and watch the fireworks.
-
Not anymore, I went on to bed as always.
-
But I'm a light sleeper so I ended up waking back up when all the gun shots started. I fell back to sleep alright though.
-
I had a little sparking wine around 11:00 p.m. Its New Year's somewhere.
-
I was awake, but I really didn't make an effort to stay up.
-
Yes... but not by choice -- I have kids who were into the whole countdown & making noise outside at midnight, which is a thing where I live.
We stayed up, played board games, ate snacks, watched the ball drop, made noise at midnight & then put pennies in the windows & then New Years Eve was over & I went to sleep.
-
I did watch the ball drop, gave the wife a kiss and then I dropped shortly thereafter.
-
I use to always stay up to see in the new year, but this year I could not hold my eyes open. I made it to 11:45 and then I fell asleep.
-
LOL You almost made it
I use to always stay up to see in the new year, but this year I could not hold my eyes open. I made it to 11:45 and then I fell asleep.
-
I am always up all night anyway but I really have no interest really in New Years.
-
i have not stayed up to see a New years in in several years. This year was no different.
I just hope 2020 is a great year and even better decade :rainbow: :peace:
-
I stopped staying awake for the magical "Ball Drop". Honestly, I went to bed early and didn't celebrate New Years.
-
Yes,but it wasn't exciting
-
I was at church for New Year Eve, so yes I was awake.
-
Since I usually stay up until 2 AM, it was no big deal for me to stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve. My husband originally said that there was no way he would be able to stay up until midnight, but he managed to stay awake, give me a kiss, have a sip of champagne, and then go immediately to bed at midnight! I guess he doesn't want to feel old, LOL! :peace:
-
This was the first year in quite a while that I made it up to midnight on my own. Usually I fall asleep and the kids wake me up a little before midnight to watch the ball drop. I do miss *bleep* Clark.
-
I was at church for New Year Eve, so yes I was awake.
I went to a church a long time ago that had a New Year Eve service. I had forgotten about that.
-
I rarely stay up to help ring in the New Year. This year I worked on New Year's Day so I went to bed as usual on New Year's Eve.
-
Nope, I don't stay awake for new years anymore. I'm usually in bed before 9pm
-
I'm pretty much nocturnal during that time so yeah I'm awake and doing other stuff.
-
Back in the day I use to but not anymore, I hear my bed calling me early :)
-
Not anymore. I have to be at up at work at 5am and work long shifts, I need my sleep.
-
I try to but honestly this year I don't believe I did.
