Title: How early is TOO EARLY to celebrate someone's 90th Birthday?
Post by: jkhanson on March 18, 2020, 04:44:41 pm
Every year our family has a Reunion in June.  It is always scheduled for the next year right after the current one is held.

This year it will be June 28.  My Mom will be 90 in August.

Since everyone will already be making the trip to Iowa, we plan to celebrate her big day in June.

Officially she won't be 90 for 5.5 weeks.  I hope no one has issues with us throwing her a celebration a bit early.

You can celebrate any birthday on any schedule you want to (at least as a goal). I have a friend who is 94 and every time I see her I congratulate her for getting closer to 100.

We will proceed with reunion plans and Mom's 90th Birthday celebration......hopefully by end of June Corona will allow us to gather.

Stay safe everyone!

I would definitely celebrate her birthday, how wonderful to reach 90!  If it were my mom, and I’m sure you will do the same, celebrate in June then again in August.  Best wishes, congratulations and Happy Birthday early to your mom. 🎉🎂🎈🎁

as long as it won't put anyones health at risk , i would celebrate it then. 5-6 weeks early doesn't really matter if it were 6-9 months early that might be a little too early. :rainbow: :peace:

That plan sounds lovely! I'm sure she'll enjoy it, and nobody in your family should have a problem with it. As a matter of fact, they should be glad that they get to be included in the early festivities! Hope you and your mom and your family has a lot of fun at the reunion/birthday party in June!  :peace:

When I first read the subject line, the first thing that came to mine was, 30?  haha  I'd say go ahead and celebrate it.

Well I was going to day before they are 90 lol.  But I say do whatever YOU want to do. If the family will all be there the month before I would absolutely include the birthday party during that time frame.  You can always have a small something on her actual birthday for the ones who are right there. And when you are 90 you deserve 2 parties.

If it is on your private property I do not see why it would matter or how anybody would know. But in Nebraska they have idiots calling 911 to tell on people who have what they think is more than 10 people together.  They were posting on social media to please stop calling 911 to tell on people for being in a crowd.  I wonder if the same idiots go to the grocery stores?

That's definitely close enough.  Family is much more important than a number on a calendar.  Have a good trip and enjoy your family and mom.
