Title: Forums
Post by: fjaz1 on February 26, 2021, 11:52:44 pm
This is for those who post on here that don't know the difference between a Forum and a Questionnaire:

The definition of a forum is a place or a method for discussion. An example of a forum is an online message board. A law court; tribunal. ... (Internet) An Internet message board where users can post messages regarding one or more topics of discussion.

No where does it indicate asking frivolous binary questions nor is the word question even in the definition.

This is just an FYI, but it would be nice if we can have more topics or subjects for discussion.  :highfive: 8)

Maybe I'm incorrect but I assume you are talking about a specific poster, that has filled the forum, (especially in off-topics) vvith nevv threads.   I've thought about replying to this poster about it but afraid I might come off rude, so I didn't.  plus I assume he/she is a nevvbie, so cut them some slack.

LOLOLOL, not you cateyes.   The one I'm thinking of (janesue, i think)  might start up 20 or 30 threads in 1 day.  Kind of comes off like annoying spam.    :turkey:

I just skip them when I see who they are from, but sometimes the questions are fun.

I didn't realize how many there were, now I am skipping when I see the name.  Sorry that they don't understand what the forum discussion group is for.

Maybe she is trying to help give people something to respond to so they can get their 30 posts in.

If anything, I thought she made these threads so she can get her 30 posts for the month.

Yeah but at this rate she'll end up having over 300 posts per month and in the meantime our forum (especially OFF-TOPIC )  is cluttered up with a lot of stupid BS spam.    ::)

I don't think anyone really cares about you and your differences of contexts.

Technically the OP needs a crash course in definitions. "This" is not a forum.  This is a thread in a forum. The posting area is a forum. And starting a thread with a question does not make it a "questionnaire".

Everything could lead to discussion. But most leads to fighting. Thus why the forums are dead in activity. I don't even click on the stupid questions that are riddle with misspelled words.  Not to mention the questions are foolish.  People want to complain about them but the same people respond to the thread.

I think the bigger thing needing explaining is this is not Facebook and nobody cares about the petty issues people want to complain about. Like oh my life is so bad. I have to home school my kids cause I am scared of a fly virus and I would rather watch soaps. Of woe is me. ::)

The same could be said to you. I really don't think anybody cares about your opinion. But obviously you do care.
You cared enough to respond. Twice!

I absolutely care about the differences of context, I 100% agree with the original comment, and I've added a thanks to fjaz1 for the enlightened opinion.

I have seen several one or two word posts from a certain person.  I have answered a couple of them, but getting tired of these type of posts.  No matter how many this person puts on the forum, if she doesn't have a certain amount of content in the post it will not count when they submit the posts.
